Certificate I in Construction
Subject Description:
This qualification provides an occupational outcome and a range of support tasks applicable to a majority of construction work sites. Occupational titles may include: • Trade assistant • Builder’s labourer • Construction assistant The full qualification will take one year to complete. This course delivers skills required to work on a variety of construction projects both on and off site from site preparation to completion of the structure (steel framed house and shed construction are typical). Most construction skills will focus on steel fabrication rather than timber. MCC FACTTC does building work for real customers. On the job work
available depends on the project needs of the customer.
Cert I in Construction is clustered with common units in Cert I in Engineering (MEM10105) and Cert I in Resources and Infrastructure Operation (RII10109) for delivery and assessment. Students will be training off the job and in a simulated workplace setting where necessary. Off the job training will be done in the Trade Training Centre under the supervision of a trainer. Work simulation projects are typical construction or fabrication jobs which provide skills and expertise. Projects may include volunteer jobs to assist with a community need.
The course is delivered on Wednesdays from 8.30am to 4.30pm at the
Trade Training Centre, Marrara Christian College.
Entry:
Students complete an Expression of Interest form and submit it to the VET Coordinator. Enrolment in this course automatically includes enrolment in Cert I in Engineering. An orientation day will be held at the beginning of Term 1 2014. Subject Description:

This course delivers skills required to work on a steel fabrication work. Typical work will be related to fabrication as required by the on and off site construction industry and other metal fabrication projects as required. This training can lead to employment in the Construction, Light Fabrication, Oil and Gas, or Mining Industries. MCC FACTTC does building work for real customers. On the job work

Subject Description:
This qualification provides competencies to perform basic work activities
such as identify and use a range of components, accessories, materials,
tools, equipment, technologies and customs for carrying out work in the
Engineering industry.
Training is delivered on Tuesdays from 8am to 4pm at Kormilda
College. The program will start in week 2 Term 1 and completion by
week 5 Term 4.

Subject Description:
This course has been designed as the standard entry level qualification
for the retail industry. It applies to those wishing to develop skills and
knowledge to work within the retail industry. Likely functions within the
retail industry for those who achieve this level of qualification include
working within clearly defined contexts and under supervision. It involves
interacting with customers, performing stock control, operating point of
sale equipment, balancing the register and minimising theft. Career
Opportunity: Employment as a Sales Assistant, Check-out Operator or
Retail Customer Service Operator.
This program will be offered in a number of formats including; Simulated
Workplace, Flexi-Mode, Actual Work placement and workshops.

Certificate I in Automotive Vocational Pathways
Subject Description:
This course is designed for beginners who would like to learn how a
motor vehicle works. It is also appropriate for people looking to pursue a
career in the Automotive Industry as it provides students with practical
skills and knowledge used in the automotive mechanical trade. It
provides a working knowledge of safety requirements, theory and use of
hand tools and equipment and the production of power for motor
vehicles. At the completion of this course students will be able to service
their own vehicle and do minor mechanical repairs. Career
Opportunities: In completion, students will have received training that
will make them more attractive to find an apprenticeship in Light & Heavy
Vehicle Motor mechanics, Auto-electrician, Small Engines, Marine or
Panel Beater/Spray Painter. This will also assist with finding a job as a
Service station operator or assistant or Spare-parts retailer.
This program will be offered through Simulated Workplace in block
intensive mode and will incorporate hands on practical activities.
Certificate I students who successfully complete the course will be
considered for Certificate II in Automotive for Semester 2.
This course will be offered twice each week. Students must choose
either program 1 OR program 2. Program 1 will operate on Tuesdays

Subject Description:
This qualification provides competencies to perform basic work activities,
including identifying and using a range of components, accessories,
materials, tools, technologies and customs for carrying out work in the
Automotive industry.
Successful completion of this qualification will provide a direct pathway to
Certificate II Automotive Qualifications.
This course will be delivered on Wednesdays, from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm
at Kormilda College. The program will start week 2 Term 1 and
completion by week 5 Term 4.

Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Pathways
Subject Description:
This course is designed for beginners who would like to learn how a
motor vehicle works. It is also appropriate for people looking to pursue a
career in the Automotive Industry as it provides students with practical
skills and knowledge used in the automotive mechanical trade. It provides
a working knowledge of safety requirements, theory and use of hand tools
and equipment and the production of power for motor vehicles. At the
completion of this course students will be able to service their own vehicle
and do minor mechanical repairs. Career Opportunities: In completion,
students will have received training that will make them more attractive to
find an apprenticeship in Light & Heavy Vehicle Motor mechanics, Auto-
electrician, Small Engines, Marine or Panel Beater/Spray Painter. This will
also assist with finding a job as a Service station operator or assistant or
Spare-parts retailer.
This program will be offered through Simulated Workplace in block
intensive mode and will incorporate hands on practical activities.
This course will be offered twice each week. Students must choose either
program 1 OR program 2. Program 1 will operate on Tuesdays only.

Course Description:

Subject Description:
This qualification provides an introduction to the construction industry, its
culture, occupations, job roles and workplace expectations. The units of
competency cover essential occupational health and safety
requirements, the industrial and work organisation structure,

materials. The qualification is built around a basic construction project
unit that integrates the skills and embeds the facets of employability

Certificate II in Hairdressing
Subject Description:
This course is designed for those people who want a career in
hairdressing. Students who complete this course will have completed
the training requirements of a salon assistant and will be are able to
work in a salon under supervision. This Certificate II in Hairdressing
qualification does involve structured work placement and may also
lead to an apprenticeship (Certificate III in Hairdressing). The units of
study completed in Certificate II will be credited towards the
apprenticeship training program. Career Opportunities: There is no
distinction between men's and women's hairdressing in this course.
The aspects of hairdressing covered include reception, basic blow
drying skills, industry knowledge, braiding techniques, client focus,
communication, shampooing and removal of colour products from the
hair. When you have completed the course and the workplace training
component you will have the skills required to work as a salon
assistant in a hairdressing salon or barber's shop, or you may
continue as an apprentice to complete Certificate III in Hairdressing.

Certificate II in Construction (Pathways)
Subject Description:
This qualification provides an introduction to the construction industry, its
culture, occupations, job roles and workplace expectations. The units of
competency cover essential occupational health and safety requirements,
the industrial and work organisation structure, communication skills, work
planning, and basic use of tools and materials. The qualification is built
around a basic construction project unit that integrates the skills and
embeds the facets of employability skills in context. Career
Opportunities: Learners will obtain the required ‘White Card’ which
enables them to enter a work site, it will also enable them to be able to
pursue a career in building and construction as a Tradesman assistant or
the skills’ achieved will assist to facilitate entry into an Australian
Apprenticeship.
This program will be offered through Simulated Workplace in intensive
mode and will incorporate hands on practical activities.

Recreation Training Package. The course is for students who wish to

Subject Description: This qualification provides students with
competencies to perform basic work activities, including identifying and
using a range of components, accessories, materials, tools, equipment,
technologies, and customs for carrying out work in the Electrotechnology

Subject Description: This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for
an individual to be competent in a range of well-developed tourism sales,
operational and tour delivery skills. Work would be undertaken in an office
environment where the planning of tourism products and services takes place,
in the field where tourism products are delivered or a combination of both.
The field includes any destination, local or regional area, tourist precinct, site,
attraction or on-board form of transportation.
Career Opportunity: The qualification is suitable for an Australian
apprenticeship pathway. Individuals with this qualification are able to work in
multiple tourism industry sectors and enterprise types. The types of enterprise
to which this qualification may apply include tour operators (e.g. coach,
