Cheers till next issue. Hi to all the Elite Pool Leagues in Western Australia, Victoria and South Australia, my name is Paul Morelli (PREZ) and I am the Captain of “All The Presidents Men”. As the winners of the Tri State Challenge of 2005, we were the team that visited New Zealand in April 2006. Auckland to be exact. My team consisted of Alec Evreniadis, John Barton, David Ewing, Richard Lamont, Chris Lilly and myself Paul Morelli. Our trip started at Adelaide’s new airport at the un-godly hour of 6am on the 6 th of April 2006. We flew to Melbourne where we met Kerry Zealand team and the members of Jimmy’s venue. Tea being provided at the venue and 20% of drinks was well received by all that attended. Well on with the 9-Ball, a very even first round New Zealand jumped us early taking a 2 nil lead, Australia hitting back and leveling at 2 all, New Zealand moving again out to a lead of 6 to 2 before Australia won the final 4 frames to level at 6 a piece at the end of the first round. The second round was also very tight, Australia winning the first 2 frames and leading for the first time, only to be caught and pass by the New Zealand team, but we were able to put together a couple of frames at the end of the second round to once again draw level at 12 a piece. A good tight struggle all the way, until jet lag set in and the wheels fell off of the Australian team, losing the third round 10 – 2 and being 22 – 14 down. I gathered the team together and gave them a harsh talking to but things didn’t change and we lost the next round 11 – 1, starting the fifth round down 33 to 15. After pretty even last two rounds New Zealand took out the 9-Ball leg 46 – 26. With the 8-Ball results New Zealand won overall 77 – 66, Australia finishing a creditable second. After a short presentation by Kerry, a thousand photo’s and lots of hand shaking, several shooters, winners trophy being filled with what ever and drunk and wives being awoken it was time to head back to our Motel as we had a long trip the following morning to Tokaroa, where the Trans May 2006- Page 1 Continued on page 2 De pardines and Brenton Collier who were also going to New Zealand. We had about 2 hours to kill at the airport so out came the cards and on with the rummy for a few of us. Well enough of all the crap, we arrived in Auckland at about 5.30pm on Thursday the 6 th April. Kerry arranged for a couple of taxi buses for us to travel to our accommodation at the Aristotle Motel on the North Shore, and a couple of us arranged for our own transport and picked up cars at the airport. Then onwards to the Motel, and what a trip that was! Two buses, two cars, a five lane Freeway/Highway (the M1) and peak hour traffic. Cars, buses going every where, and that was just our lot. After losing each other several times and then catching each other again, some how we made it to the Motel, arriving at around 7.30pm. We checked in to the Motel and back in to the cars and 1 bus and off to the Cossy Club.(The Cosmopolitan Club), where we meet up with Jimmy Hendry and the New Zealand Team. We ordered tea and had several practice games on the 3 8ball tables and 2 snooker tables. After a lot of discussion on whether we were going to play the 8-Ball leg of our challenge that night or the following day, it was decided that we would play a Knock out, at a cost of $10NZ. that night and play the 8-Ball on Friday starting at 2pm at the Cossy Club, followed by the 9- Ball leg at Jimmy Hendry’s Pool Room that night. After a very interesting tussle in the 8- ball Australia led 41 – 31 a ten frame lead into the 9-ball. After a short comfort break back at the Motel we gathered at Jimmy’s Pool Room where we were welcomed by the New The 2006 Premier/New Zealand Elite Challenge Champions - The Auckland bulls, L-R: Chris Bowman, Jimmy Henry, Matthew Mc Innes, Werner Fontein, Tony Defontenay and Tony Van Wijk.

IMPROVEYOURPOOL.COM is beingdeveloped by a team of programmers basedin Sydney, Australia - our online Pool coachingsite is aimed at teaching the game of Pool topeople across the globe and creating a funand interactive community of Pool playersand enthusiasts.

Some of the world’s leading ProfessionalPool Players have endorsedIMPROVEYOURPOOL.COM. WorldChampions from past and present, as wellas names you are bound to hear a lot aboutin the coming years (if you haven’t already)have been eager to provide their support toIMPROVEYOURPOOL.COM as theyrecognise the benefit a world-class OnlinePool destination can bring to the sport.

There are three main goals ofImproveYourPool.com

1.To educate players of all ages on how toimprove their game

2. To increase the profile of Pool on aglobal scale

3 To help Pool make it to the Olympics. The idea of ImproveYourPool.com was

born from a desire to create a central onlinedestination for Pool players of all degrees ofexperience and from all corners of the world. The web site would create a globalcommunity of Pool players and provide anenvironment that would allow people toimprove their game, and ultimately lead to ahigher profile for the sport.

This initial vision quickly evolved into the

Cont. From Pg. 1:Tasman Cup and a 9-Ball single knock out was being run over the weekend. But that’s another story. I wish to thank my team for the effort over the long day of 8-Ball and9-Ball, well done guys. In closing I wish firstly, to thank Mandy Collins for all her support at ourhome venue EMPIRE, and without it we would not have been in the position to representAustralia in New Zealand………THX. Mandy lots of luv. from all of us.....XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO.

And now for Kerry, what a person (I really wanted to say sweetheart, but that would bepolitically incorrect ). Firstly for running the Elite over 3 States, what a marvelous concept, then arranging for the winners of each State to gather and play-off for the right to go to NewZealand all paid, flight and 5 days accommodation, thanks Kerry. Then to travel with us asour major supporter, (sorry to the wives and girlfriends that went), her organization of all theevents over 3 states and buses in New Zealand, the 8-ball and 9-ball, virtually leaving nostone unturned to make sure that everything went well. Many, many thanks Kerry from notonly “All The Presidents Men” but the whole group from Empire.

Thanks for your total involvement in cue sports, without people like yourself in our chosensport; the players that aspire to represent Australia at any level would not have the opportunityof a life time, many, many thx once again. PREZ.

One ProudMamma Chook!!

What a pleasure to be a part of theextraordinary 2006 Premier V New ZealandChallenge! To all of the Presidents Men thatmade up the Aussie team, you sure did me& Premier Oz proud. With twelve rounds ofmatch play, by the end of round Nine we haddeveloped & maintained a 10 point leadagainst the Almighty Kiwi’s and I started toget a touch Cocky (or Chooky should I say)teasing the Kiwi’s saying that I was takingour trophy home for some well neededmaintenance & polishing after having left itin Kiwi Land for the three years prior! Wellmore fool me with only 3 three rounds of 9Ballto go that only seemed to spur the Kiwi’s on,them turning the score line around to defeatus by 10 points – final scores being, 77 theBulls & 67 the Presidents Men. What a rush!!!A huge thanks to Jimmy Henry the Proprietorof the Spectacular Pool Barn & Vice Captainof the Kiwi Team, your hospitality was secondto none as always and to the rest of the KiwiBoys, I take it all back you can keep theChallenge Trophy for another year you boysare awesome Sports Men & brilliant Cueists!Cheers to the gallant effort fielded by the SABoys, I have no doubt our Day is Nigh. Inclosing with out the tremendous supportfrom our two Major Sponsors ‘AustralianBilliard supplies (ABS)’ &‘Improveyourpool.com’ this event would bemuch harder to co ordinate, Leaguies, Eastto West I encourage you to support thosethat support us. Hi, My name is Renee’ I’m 24 years old andhave a 9 month old son Tarrjh, who you probablyall would have seen around here at some stage. He’s a part of the furniture & a little Miss Q’smascot. I live in Mandurah, but originally come

from Qld. Going from working in a bank to Miss Q’s has been aneye opener. The atmosphere here is so much more relaxed. It’sbeen great watching Miss Q’s get bigger and better over the last fewmonths. Our function room is going off at the moment; the bookingskeep coming in, so if you want to have a party up there get in quick!!I love the atmosphere here especially when we are run off our feet, the busier we are the more fun the staff have. My workmates aren’ttoo shabby either!

With so many new faces coming through the doors it’s gettinghard to remember everybody’s names, so if I forget your name I’msorry! The more you come in the more chance of me rememberingyour name though. So come in more often!

Be quick to try our Berry Bombs though because once we are outyou miss out. We have new drinks for you all to try though like theFreddy Kruger, Bullnut and Jager monster!!!! They all sound prettygood to me!

This is the first time I have seen the Elite league, WOW is all I cansay about that. If you aren’t playing in our leagues you better havea really good excuse!

I met my fiancé by chance whilst trying to play pool against himnearly 2 years ago. My game has improved a bit, but I still get my asskicked nearly every time. I can’t play pool but work in a poolroom GOFIGURE! I have fun though, which is the main thing.

I love to go fishing, I am pretty good at getting snags and catchingseaweed, but every now and again I actually catch a fish (even if it isthe size of a guppy). I am also having fun learning to play poker atthe moment. One thing I am not fond of is FROGS!! They might lookcute to everyone else but frogs and I don’t get along no matter howlittle and cute they seem to everyone else. Kez used to have a froghere named ning ning, can’t say I was that upset when he went tofroggy heaven! Well that’s it for me for now, I had better go and dosome work before Kez gets here.

C-me later Renee’PS- Don’t forget we have a pretty purple jar on the counter for

tips!! Don’t be scared to use it. Hehe haha

On the Sunday coming down to the nitty gritty part of the Tournament, it was serious time.We had the Pool TV Crew filming on one table all day and the place really came to life comingto the Top 4. In the Semi’s we had the Victorian’s “Steve Gray” and “Marc Robertson” play, where “Steve” won 5-3. In the other Semi, we had a SA match where “Mark Williams” played“Alec Evrenadis” “Mark” got up 5-3. Rumour has it that someone is getting marriedand everyone I ask is not sure how true it is. Forthose of you dying to find out well Im not tellingand NO its not me.

Who of you saw Sharons Black Eye? I knowshe would like it if I made up this extravagantstory as to how it happened like, Aliens tried tomake her their Queen, but to become the queenshe would have to leave The Pool Room and shejust couldnt do that. OH NO. It all happenedone Saturday Night dancing with a family friendwhen round goes Sharon, then down goes Sharon, after hitting a metal pole. A few of our bar staff(Loz and Ally and maybe a few more I dontknow just yet) are going over seas to meet upwith Rachel in Asia, but only for a few weeks. Some of them may even go back later on for anextended period of time.

One Wednesday night some of you peopleshould hang around, because you just never knowthe adventures that some of us will get up to,especially when sitting at the bar talking. Onething leads to another and the next thing youknow there are a numerous number of Condomsfloating around. So what is thelogical thing for one to do withthe condoms but to, Yes you gotif Blow them up. But very hardto pull it all the way over your head. A word tothe wise, When Condoms are full they tend toexplode, and leave a lot to clean up.

At the Pool Room Saturday May 27th is thegood old theme night and the next one isWoodstock. If you have any good of bad ideason a theme just let me or Todd or any of the barstaff know. Congrats to all the people who playedand won in the Anzac Day Tournament, and toall the winners no matter how big or small youare.

Thats all from me Cheers, Ange

Thanks to the Pool TV Crew doing such afabulous job for the weekend

Anzac Weekend, where do I start..? I arrivedat The Pool Room at9.30am and I was feelingreally good and ready toplay. I was playing ontable 7 and so was Ben

Nunan and then the nerves set in for thewhole day. I didn’t win a game on Saturdaybut still came back on Sunday for the BlonksCompetition. I won 1 frame but didn’t makeit through to round 2.

I had a great time watching some reallygood players and I learnt a lot about thegame. I stayed and watched the Finals whichwere really interesting. Congratulations toSteve Gray who won the Anzac Tournament.

I had a great weekend and will enter againnext year and hopefully do a lot better.

I play in a Social League atThe Pool Room ever yWednesday. I enter ed thewomens knockout on the Fridaynight and played Kolbe Poole forthe first round, whos a highlyranked player, and of course, Ilost. At the Anzac Day

Tournament I was on table 13, I was the Captain and theonly girl on the table. I didnt win a game, but it was a lotof fun, I learnt a lot by just watching the games and got tomeet new people. It was a close day on table 13, we had 3people in a play off so 1 could go through to Sunday. I thencame back on Sunday and entered the Blonks Competition, twice and again, I didnt win a game! I did get interviewedby the Pool TV Crew but all in all I had a really good time.

Just to make things worse, I subbed for Social Leaguethat Sunday night and again didnt win a game! It was notmy weekend for winning, but it wasnt about that. It wasabout having fun and a good experience. I stayed andwatched the Finals and gave a big Congratulations to SteveGray.

The Tournament started off on Friday night witha $20 knockout best of 5 frames where I made thesecond round before being knocked out by AlecEvrenadis, score 3-1. Considering how good Alecis, I was kinda satisfied getting one frame off him.

The Saturday went fairly well where I won 5 outof 8. Problem being is that three others finished on5 and two people finished on more than 5, whichmeant that a play off was on the cards. It took 2½hours for the organisers to decide whether we playedoff or automatically got through to Sundays draw.Fortunately we all went straight through to theSunday. I failed dismally on the Sunday, been beaten3-2 by the Suede.

Drinking heavily on the Saturday night probablydidnt help my cause aswell as having about 3 hoursof sleep. I then spent $10 to play in the Blonkscompetition to be drawn toplay Steve Tran. That was$10 well spent! All in all thetournament was a success andCongrats goes to Steve Grayfor winning the mainTournament and specialmention to Ken Carelli forwinning the blonks.

Michael Cracknell

Well this was the 1st

tournament that I have playedin, and I expected to not wina game. After bringing myhuge mug from home and my3rd cup of giant coffee, andsetting my alarm on myphone for 11am when the barwas serving grog. I had 2practise games 1 of which I won. So as far as I wasconcerned that was all I was going to win. But tomy amazement I won a game. It was a great day. Totop it off in my last game Jamey Suede said that if Ibet him he would never play pool again.

Cheers, Ange

The Anzac Tournament established itselfas another ‘big’ tournament on the poolplayer’s calendar this year- filmed by ‘PoolTV’ for the first time. Whilst everyone wastrying to get their 15 mins of fame, some ofus were struggling to qualify. After anunsuccessful Saturday, not qualifying, I optedfor the bar... As for the Sunday… all I can tellyou is that I made the semi of the Non-qualifiers comp (losing to eventual winner,Kenny), I vaguely remember watching thefinal (congratulations Steve Gray and MarkWilliams) and after the that, the rest is anabsolute blur- all Iremember was taking theday off for work onMonday!

Well done to allthe leaguies that put theirhand up for the comp andqualified. To all theleaguies that didn’t makeit… see how much fun Ihad!!

News from A-TownTurn it up; hope everybody is doing well, April was a massive month all over the country, in fact a few countries so I’ll stop

talking crap and get straight into it. Our lovely winning Elite team “All the Presidents Men” embarked on their trip to NewZealand at the beginning of the month, albeit with plenty of free loaders following them (slug this means u!!). It seems likea great time was had by all, despite the fact that the trophy had to stay in sheep shaggers land for at least another year. Iwon’t bore you with the details, seeing as 1; I don’t really know them all and B; (yes B always follows 1), you can read allabout it in Kerry’s editorial and the glowing report from the champ of all champs, Prez. A big cheers to our South Aussie boys, who despite

returning defeated, still put up a good performance. After the Premier tournament was completed theboys were “lucky” enough in their timing to be able to compete in the Trans Tasman, which you can readall about in Slug’s informative report (which I’m sure has more to do with wild BBQ ribs than anythingelse, but as long as that was the highlight….). A big shout out needs to go to all those from SA whotravelled over to The Pool Room in Vic, for the ANZAC day comp in a month littered with public holidays.A great weekend was had by all (so I heard), and it was great to see Pool Players Inc. represented by somany in the last rounds. Bad luck to Mark Machine Williams, who as the rumour has it, didn’t drop aframe all day until he was defeated in the Grand Final by Steve Gray. Congratulations on a great tournament

guys, only hope I can be there next year! Now lets get stuck into good old A town. Sunday Green League wrapped up at the beginning of themonth with some crazy results!! Our new leaguies Popcorn Playaz, knocked out front runners, Empty Pockets, and then went on to knock outSCUBROC. Stickmen made it to the grand final but in the end the title went to our father and son team, Special K.In our singles finals aftersome awesome games the Grand Final came down to two team mates Richard & Tory of Stickmen battling it out. Tory felt he deservedthe win as they both seemed to think they lost the teams finals due to Richards poor form! And as fate would have it, Tory took out top spot. Welldone to everybody, some great games played, and it’s great to see a league of players that compliment eachother in so many ways!! Our Blue league mid- season knock out took place only last week and it was great tosee some of out newer players doing so well (Joanne I’m talking to you - you’reawesome sweetie keep up the good work!!). In the end our old favourite Kennywas graciously defeated by our Team Tasman player, Gump. Well done guys.Monday Red league is into their finals as we speak, and it seems to be a repeatof last season with the same three teams representing in the last round of finals.Good luck boys, lets just hope that Rob and Ricky can escape home detention forjust one night otherwise we’ll have to give the trophy to 3 Bags full (formally Empty Sacks (that’s why you really

shouldn’t let boys name their own teams)). The Johnnie Walker Classic is only days away guys, so all of those who wantto take that little step further come down and give it a go. Tournaments are an awesome experience not to miss out on,there really is nothing like getting your ass whipped by some drunken gambler who has spent thebetter days of his life playing 8ball, eating fried food and being drip fed Jagerbombs (Jonesy I’mlookin’ at you!!). Before I go special mention needs to be made in regards to a few of our leaguies.Danny Summers of our Monday Red League was recently nominated by Tom Hannah of the KentTown, for the Hospitality Group Training awards. Danny was recognised for his talent and hardwork with the award for Most Improved Apprentice of 2005 and walked away with a free set of knives(no really he did get a free set of knives)! Congratulations Danny, I know you work almost as hardas you party mate, and you deserve it. Another set of congratulations are in order, this time for Mat

Johns of our Sunday Green League, who just got engaged to the lovely Christina Birbck. May you guys have a longand celebrated life together. Guys, I’d love to hang around but to be honest today is Chuckles’ Birthday and we’ve gotsome serious drinking to do. To my little santas – Guy (Chuckles) and Anthony (Slug), hope you guys both have greatbirthdays and I hope you both get so drunk you can’t stand up. To all my leaguies, hope you all had a great easter, good luck in the JW Classicand see you next time!!

New Zealand here we come. It was an early morning start. At the Adelaide airport by 5:45 am! I was very excitedas it was the first time checking in by myself, and going overseas without my parents. Of course someone was late and ithad to be the one and only J.B. We set off for New Zealand arriving at about 5:30 NZ time. We went to the North Shore CozzieClub (like our R.S.L clubs we have here.) Cheap piss and scored some wicked BBQ PORK RIBBS. Hung around Aucklandfor the next day then set off to Tokaroa Saturday morning all fired up to play 9-Ball. Firstly, we couldn’t find our motel so wemade a 2 and a ½ hour trip take about 5 hours. It was good fun any way. Finally checked in and headed to the pool hallhosting the Tournament. Had a little hit, then went and had dinner. At the tournament there was some fierce competition asthere were a lot of good players qualifying for only 32 spots. I finished 3rd in my group and made it though for the final day.

I drew Brenton Collier first up, and had my chances but sadly lost to the better player. I can at least say I played well in my first internationaltournament, finishing 17th - what a great experience! We drove back to Auckland that night, chilled out in the motel until we had to get up andgo to the airport to come back to Australia. All in all a fantastic trip and experience and definitely going back next year.SLUG.

Ok, wait for it guys cos I know how exctied you get; but May

saw a massive 39 Pink shirts walk through Empire’sdoors. What an absolute joke! and to the man who saidpink shirts would decrease with the colder weather (ie

Alec aka Dad), I say “cram it with walnuts buddy!”

And as for this guy; he justcan’t seem to stay sober.

This was a Thursday NightElite effort, where Garlic

walked away from the tablewith 0 wins from 6 frames.

Nice one.
