Russian Railways plays an active role in the Working Group on Railway and Road Transportation operating within the framework of the transport dialogue between Russia and the EU
Russian Railways plays an active role in the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Inland Transport Committee (UNECE ITC) on issues relating to railway transport, intermodal services and logistics, transportation of hazardous freight, transport-related customs matters, etc.
RZD is Russia’s official representative in the UNECE Trans European Rail Network set up to integrate the railways participating in the project into the common European network andpursue a coordinated railway infrastructure development investment policy
Russian Railways is a fully-fledged member of the International Union of Railways (UIC), where it supervises matters of international transport corridor development and oversees establishment of quality standards and certification procedures
Russian Railways participated in preparing the Trans-Asian Railway (TAR) NetworkIntergovernmental Agreement within the framework of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP)
Russian Railways is a member of the UIC’s ERA (European Railway Agency) – OSJD (Organisation for Cooperation between Railways) Contact Group

The terms for cooperation have been determined by placement of the Russian part of the shares (50%) under trust of Russian Railways for a five-year term (as stipulated by Decree No. 965 of the President of the Russian
Federation dated 22 August 2009 and Resolution No. 1529r of the Government of the Russian Federation dated

The Agreement on broadening cooperation between Russian Railways and the Ulanbaatar Railway signed in February 2008 governs activities to improve Ulaanbaatar Railway’s performance through
Equipping Mongolian railways with the required rolling stock units Rebuilding the track superstructure Introducing innovative transport and information technologies on the Ulanbaatar Railway Ensuring integration of the information systems used by Russian and Mongolian railways Boosting transit services from China to Europe and back Training and retraining of professionals in fields particular needed by the Ulanbaatar RailwayTwo Russian Railways representatives have been members of the Ulanbaatar Railway Management Board
since 2010: Vadim Morozov, Senior Vice-President of Russian Railways, was appointed Chairman of the Ulanbaatar Railway’s Board of Directors
In May 2009, the Mongolian Government andRussian Railways set up the InfrastructureDevelopment Company (RZD owns 50% of theventure).
