Introduction to Video Paper Builder (VPB)• Video Paper Builder is a multimedia creation

software▫ Java-based and runs in Mac or Windows

environment.▫ Accepts inputs such as HTML documents, video

and image files.▫ Generates the final published document in HTML

form which can be uploaded to the Internet easily.

Why VPB?

• Web-based. Students will be able to access the material anywhere.

• Allows for video-capturing in published product.• Text and slides alongside video aids in

explaining and the understanding of the process flow.

Problems solved by using VPB

• Video recorded is a close substitute of the actual explanation covered during tutorial.

• Student can replay the video repeatedly to help in his understanding.

• Thinking process and analytical skills are demonstrated.

• CamStudio – free video capturing software that allows us to capture the video in .avi format

• Delicious.com ▫ a social bookmarking web service for storing,

sharing and discovering web bookmarks.▫ through delicious.com, we believe it will be easier

for students to get access to the links and spread the word.

Combining the various technologies

• VPB provides the template for videos and notes.• Cam Studio allows easy capturing of videos from

tablet PCs.• Delicious.com stores the bookmark for easy

access and sharing.

Methodology

• Non-randomized pretest-posttest design.• Pre-test is given.• Viewing of video-papers via internet. • Post-test is conducted with questions of similar

standard.• Pre-test and post-test scores are collected and

analyzed.• A survey was also conducted after the whole

exercise.

• More time is spent on explaining difficult concepts during tutorial.

• Tutors did not have to re-explain previous concepts during tutorial but refer students to the videos.

• Students with different learning abilities are able to follow the concepts during the next tutorial.
