1623 A German Astronomer, invented the
first mechanical calculating machine in 1623 which we now call the computer.
1840 The first camera was invented May 8,
1840 by Alexander Wolcott. Photographs were taken prior to that, But it really wasn’t a camera to take photographs.
1867 The first machine to show animated
pictures or movies was a device called the “Wheel of Life” in 1867 by William Lincoln.
1876 The first microphone was invented in
1876 by Emile Berliner for Alexander Graham Bell . This was used as a telephone voice transmitter.
1895 Frenchman Louis Lumiere invented the
first motion picture camera in 1895. He invented a portable motion picture camera, which is a film processing unit and projector called the Cinematographe.
1897 The first television camera was
invented in 1897.
1906-1920 Color film began as early as 1906, but
wasn’t as perfect until 1920.
1906 Montreal opened one of the very first
movie theaters in the world in 1906.
1923 The Walt Disney Company was founded
October 16,1923
1933 The first sound system was made in
1933 by Alan Dower Blumlein.
1951 The world’s first demonstration of the
video tape was November 11, 1951 by Bing Crosby.
1956 The first digital video camera was
invented April 14, 1956 by Ray Dolby, Charles Ginsberg, and Charles Anderson.
1956 The first video tape recorder was
introduced in 1956 by German scientists in World War II
1975 The first commercially professional
video cassette recorder (VCR) was introduced in 1975.
1977 and 1979 Nickelodeon was founded on December
1,1977 as (Pinwheel) then later changed the name to what we now call Nickelodeon.
1982 The first computer based teleprompter
appeared in 1982.
1900s Hitachi introduced the MDV (Mini-
Digital Video) cassette in the 1900s for higher quality images.
1990 The first projected sound film came out
in 1990 in Paris. Sound film was a motion picture with sound which opposed silent film.
1992 On October 1,1992 at approximately
12 p.m ET, Cartoon Network was launched as an outlet for Turner’s considerable library of animation.
1995 The first digital camera was invented in
1995 for video quality at home.
1996 The first DVD video format was
introduced by Toshiba in November 1996.
1997 The DVD discs were released in 1997
shortly after the video tape for the VCR became a thing of the past.
