POST: Senior Independent Living Coordinator – Lewisham Lead
SALARY: £26,000 per annum
HOURS: 36 hours a week
RESPONSIBLE TO: Safe and Independent Living Manager
PURPOSE OF JOB: To be responsible for the effective coordination, development and promotion of the Age UK Lewisham and Southwark (AUKLS) Happy Feet and Help at Home services, matching workers to clients to ensure the needs of older people accessing these services are met.

The AUKLS Happy Feet Toenail Cutting Service currently plays a valuable part in contributing to the comfort, mobility and wellbeing of older people in Southwark by providing Workers to visit them in their homes, or in clinics, to cut toenails and to provide general advice about foot care and support to access additional local services through our Safe and Independent Living (SAIL) scheme.
Our Help at Home Service offers domestic support including cleaning, laundry, shopping and escorting to and from appointments to help keep older people independent in their homes.
Due to the success of our ‘Help at Home’ and ‘Happy Feet’ (toenail cutting) services in Southwark, a new post has been created to coordinate the development and expansion of the services in Lewisham.

Key tasks and responsibilities
Service Coordination- Lewisham
Coordinate and effectively manage appointment bookings, reappointment dates and staff allocation for all existing and new clients, necessitating good relationships both with external organisations and Happy Feet and Help at Home Workers in Lewisham
Supervise and coordinate work load of Happy Feet and Help at Home workers
Liaise with the Independent Living Coordinator responsible for Happy Feet and Help at Home in Southwark concerning deployment of workers
Maintain and develop efficient recording systems for new and existing clinics and to ensure that requisite information is entered onto AUKLS database, Carista
Develop/improve the service offered through new and existing clinics as necessitated by AUKLS seeking CQC registration for the Service and ensuring that best practice and established protocols are adhered to within clinics
Business Development
Develop and deliver a targeted advertising campaign across both Lewisham and Southwark to promote the service in collaboration with the Southwark Help at Home and Happy Feet coordinator
Make strategic alliances through visits to sheltered housing schemes and/or their tenants’ groups; care homes and organisations working with older people across both boroughs but especially within Lewisham, to establish a number of new Happy Feet clinics
Undertake market research on existing services available in both boroughs to establish a new pricing structure
Develop and implement effective administration systems and procedures
Ensure that the service meets set targets in terms of numbers and quality

Staff Management
Responsibility for line management (including regular person centred supervision, training, coaching and development) of the Southwark Help at Home and Happy Feet Coordinator
Work with the HR manager to report on sickness, absence, annual leave and inform the finance team monthly of any changes to payroll
Recruitment
Responsibility for the recruitment, supervision and management of Happy Feet and Help at Home Workers
Arrange training days and support the trainer with the delivery of some aspects of training around AUKLS policies, procedures and expectations
Recruit, train and supervise a small team of Volunteer Quality Checkers and support with the coordination of their visits to older people using the service
Monitoring and Evaluation
To record and collate service statistics, including follow-up and outcomes for monitoring purposes, and produce reports, at all times meeting requirements for customer consent and Data Protection.
To monitor customer satisfaction with the quality of service provided
To work according to the standards of Age UK Lewisham and Southwark especially in relation to the confidentiality, equality and diversity and Health and Safety policies and procedures.
To raise the profile of Age UK Lewisham and Southwark and older people within the voluntary, private and statutory sector and within the community in general.
To be an active part of the office team and to assist in the smooth running of the office when other members of staff are unavailable or on holiday.

Additional duties
To respond politely and efficiently to all enquiries and referrals for older people who require Independent Living Services including the Handypersons, Help at Home and Happy Feet Services
To maintain effective relationships throughout the Independent Living Team , supporting the out of office workers to effectively meet the needs of older people
To respond to initial enquiries from individual members of the public, our staff and volunteers, other professionals and external organisations, referring on to the Help at Home, or other support services.
To help provide older people with accurate, up-to-date information taking due consideration of relevant legislation and issues such as confidentiality, Data Protection and customer consent.
Ensure that payments made by service users for cash and cheque payments are recorded promptly for banking in accordance with Age UK Lewisham and Southwark's procedures
