Anglesea Futures Draft Guiding Principles for Consultation The Victorian Government, Surf Coast Shire and Alcoa have come together to develop draft principles to guide the future use of the Anglesea power station and coal mine. The draft principles have been developed based on feedback received from the community to provide an overarching framework to guide the future for the site. Guiding Principles Value and complement the natural environment Support a diverse range of future uses and outcomes Honour the various cultural and heritage values of the area. Compliment the future of the Anglesea Region. Provide a safe and stable land form for future uses. DELWP will commence the strategic land use planning for the Anglesea power station and coal mine in 2017. A strategic land use study is required to determine the future use of the site, except for areas known to be added to the Great Otway National Park. Once completed any recommended changes to the zone of the land can be implemented through an amendment to the Surf Coast Planning Scheme. Alcoa is undertaking community engagement on how these draft guiding principles specifically relate to the Revised Mine Closure Plan and Draft Master Plan. The information collected by Alcoa from their community engagement will be considered during the strategic land use planning process. Local community members are encouraged to comment on the draft guiding principles from 22 March 2016. Feedback received back from the community will

The Victorian Government, Surf Coast Shire and Alcoa are all committed to working with the community to better understand the community’s views, vision and hopes are for the Anglesea Region and to ensuring that individuals, community and those with an interest in the future of Anglesea have the opportunity to participate in the process to guide the future land of the area.

The State Government, Surf Coast Shire and Alcoa are committed to working with the community use the following principles in our conversations and to consultation with the community:

• TransparencyShare adequate information regarding a range of issues including future land use, water, planning and the long term vision for the Anglesea Region,

• InclusivenessEnsure participation techniques are suitable to meet the requirements and expectations of the variety of individuals, community and ensure those with an interest in the future of Anglesea have the opportunity to participate in the process to guide the future use of the site,

• AccountabilityEnsuring the community understand our consultation process is for the future of Anglesea and we meet those expectations and demonstrate that the results and outcomes are consistent with the commitment made at the outset of the process,

• Responsiveness to communityBuild and maintain relationships with the community to better understand the community’s views, vision and hopes are for the Anglesea Region and, acknowledge differing viewpoints and concerns and ensure that they are given due consideration in the future use of the site,

• AlignmentWork in partnership to achieve the objectives of the Anglesea Futures Community Conversations and be consistent with other community forums within the Anglesea region.
