Dear Applicant, RE: Home-Start Breastfeeding Peer Supporter Home-Start Oldham, Stockport and Tameside is a registered charity that provides support to families with at least one child under the age of 5. We are part of a network of over 300 independent local Home-Starts that support families throughout the UK and in British Forces in Germany and Cyprus. All Home-Starts are responsible for their own governance and for their own funding, meaning that we all operate in a similar way but have the ability to respond to local need. We are currently commissioned jointly by Tameside & Oldham MBC (Public Health) to offer a breastfeeding peer support service across Tameside & Oldham. We work in partnership with The Breastfeeding Network (BfN) and have a combination of paid peer supporters and volunteers offering support to new mothers in a variety of settings, including on the hospital ward, in community support groups, at home-visits and over the phone. We are seeking to recruit someone with experience of working or volunteering with BfN in order to provide ante-natal and breastfeeding peer support. The successful candidate will work closely with the rest of the paid team and will help to support our team of volunteers. The post is to cover a fixed-term for a period of just less than 2 years, until the 31 st October 2019.
