Village Insider: A 2018 Preview

The High Point Village Board of Directors announced Friday, January 19th, that Doug Spearman is assuming the role of Executive Director of

the organization. Doug has been serving the organization since September 2017 as Assistant Executive Director and assumes his new role from

Becky Critz who is retiring.

The Board thanks Becky for her exemplary service to High Point Village. She has been instrumental in the growth of the organization over the past

seven years.

Architectural planning is under way for a 10,000 square ft. expansion on the east side of our Enrichment Center. The first phase of construction consists of adding 4,000 square ft. of finished classroom space with an additional 6,000 square ft. of unfinished building space that will be finished during phase two of our expansion project. The first phase of construction has an expected completion date of late 2018 or early 2019. We are excited about this project because it will allow us the ability to add day programming and provide services to a greater number of Villagers in the Lubbock and surrounding area.

Grace Gomez, High Point Village’s board-certified music therapist administers music therapy in individual sessions to accomplish

individualized goals using music interventions.

Adding music therapy increases the range of people we are able to serve. Music therapy serves all ages and disabilities. Our reach now includes
