Chess CampLearn a new game or sharpen your skills. Open to all experience levels from complete beginners to tournament players. Zombie Adventure CampMeet at BRCC and move into Harvester Park.

Learn basic survival skills and how to prepare for a zombie “disaster” in this day camp for adventurous kids! You’ll learn to build a shelter, find your way in the wilderness

(Harvester Wetlands), live off the land, and assemble the necessary tools to survive any

situation, particularly when zombies are lurking. Participants will have daily zombie patrols and participate in daily stealth contests to see what they are learning. On the last day, you will test your zombie survival skills with a water gun war of humans vs. zombies. Dress appropriately for muddy conditions and bring a water bottle. Snacks will be provided daily and participants will receive a camp t-shirt.

Safe at HomeChildren will learn the importance of behaving responsibly and how to handle themselves when confronted with a challenge, such as answering the telephone or the door when parents are away or occupied elsewhere in the home. Topics covered include safety in the home, proper use of keys, what to do in case of an emergency, how to respond to strangers, and general house rules. Fee includes workbook.

Disclaimer: This course does NOT endorse children being home alone; that responsibility lies with the parents. This course simply prepares children to be safe and careful when parents are not immediately available. Babysitter TrainingPlan to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly provide care for children and infants in the absence of parents. Develop leadership skills, learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep yourself and others safe, help children behave, and learn about basic child care and basic first aid. Certification for this class includes participant workbook, emergency guide, and American Red Cross Babysitters Training certificate. Rookies CampIn this camp, 6-7 year old beginners will learn about different rock instruments and begin their introduction to music theory and appreciation. Ear training, song structure, rhythm patterns and group playing are all part of this week-long introduction to music. In this camp, students will learn about all the different rock instruments and begin their introduction to music theory and music appreciation. This summer camp is designed for 6-7 year old students who have little to no experience with music. By Design, there is no end of camp performance. This allows for the camp’s focus to be solely on acclimating students to rock music, becoming familiar with instruments and enjoying their first experience learning music in a group setting. We will produce and share fun videos to give you a peek into what students experience during the week.

Classic Rock Rewind Performance CampCome learn the music of the 60s and 70s rock icons such as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones in our Classic Rock Rewind summer camp. In addition to songs, students will learn about rock history and the stagecraft needed to perform on a stage. At the end of the week, students will put on a live performance. Songwriting CampIn this special 5-day camp, students will analyze some of the greatest compositions of the last 60 years and learn how to write their own songs. Students will analyze some of the greatest compositions of the last 60 years in order to develop their own tunes. They will learn about chord progressions, arrangements and other tricks of the trade. We’ll spend Monday through Friday learning and writing songs, all culminating in a live performance. Great for students 10-18 years of age who have had previous instruction.

Best of the 90s Performance CampCome celebrate bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Weezer and many more in our Best of the 90s summer camp. The 90’s were one of music’s most important decades as grunge and alternative music took over the airwaves and pop culture. Come celebrate bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Weezer and many more in our Best of the 90s summer camp. Students will spend Monday through Friday learning and practicing songs from the 90s, all culminating in a live performance. Little Wing Camp will include a wide variety of large and fine motor activities, crafts, “sound” experiments and games designed to develop a love and understanding of music through play! Campers will also be introduced to each of the main rock band instruments (guitar, bass, drums, piano/keyboard, and vocals), so they have an understanding of how the instruments produce sound and what makes them distinct. The best part of camp is our band “updates” with video & photos of what our band has been rehearsing together! Your child will come out of camp singing songs like “Come Together” & “We Will Rock You” from day one. That’s definitely a level up from “ABCs!”

Rock 101 Performance CampRock 101 Camp is for beginners 8-12 years of age. Want to play in a band on stage? Our Rock101 camp is designed for beginners 8-12 years of age. No experience necessary! Students will explore their instruments through musical games and activities. Our nurturing environment makes this the perfect camp for budding musicians. Students will work on songs Monday through Friday and the camp will culminate in a concert at the end of the week for family and friends.

You will use graphic editing techniques and stop motion animation, add music and your own voices to make your movie unique. Instructor Mike Smith was born in Chicago and started his career in 1985 as an Industrial, Commercial photographer, working with many Fortune 500 companies. In 1986, he was recognized by the State of Illinois for his documentary work in China. He attended College of DuPage, receiving an Associate in Applied Science Photographic Technology with Honors in 2016. His body of work ranges from Nature to URBEX. Since 2011, Mr. Smith’s projects have been exhibited at the Louvre Museum in Paris, France, as well as several galleries in the United States and abroad. His teaching skills are utilized by several park districts in Illinois, and at Waubonsee Community College where he is an adjunct instructor.
