Villanova Basketball ExperienceHome Court Edge

Villanova’s on-campus home is the Pavilion, a 6,500 seat venue that has been sold out for the Wildcats’ last 82 regular season con-tests in the building dating back to the 2000-01 campaign.

In addition to being the Wildcats’ home for basketball, The Pavilion also features a Wildcat men’s basketball locker room, a Cinema added in 2002, two additional locker rooms, an indoor five-lane 200-meter track, additional basketball, tennis and/or volleyball courts, a state of the art media room, and one of the East’s finest indoor swimming and diving facilities.

Built at a cost of $15 million, the Wildcats opened their new home in a grand fashion by upending ACC power Maryland 64-62 on February 1, 1986. In 1999-2000 the Wildcats went past the one million mark for total attendance since the building was opened. More than 1.5 million people have passed through the Pavilion’s turnstiles in its history.

In the 23 seasons that the Wildcats have competed in The Pavilion, Vil-lanova has compiled a 199-54 (.787) overall record, and a 87-35 (.713) Big East Conference record. VU was a perfect 11-0 in the building during the 2007-08 season.

The facility has truly become one of the most exciting in the league, with winning becoming the norm and paid sellouts a common sight. Since the 1994-95 season, Villanova has compiled a mark of 138-22 overall (.863) in the Pavilion, including a record of 63-17 (.788) in the Big East Conference.

Year-By-Year at the Wachovia Center

Wachovia Center

The Wachovia Center is Villanova’s home away from home and the site of some of the most exciting victories in recent seasons. Last season, Vil-lanova upended LSU, 67-66, in a dramatic contest that included a furious rally from a 15 point deficit in the game’s final three minutes. The Wildcats also upended nationally-ranked Connecticut 67-65 in February.

In 2007-08, the Wildcats average attendance at the center was 19,018. Since 2005, Villanova has averaged 19,028 in its home games at the Center.

The Wachovia Center is also the home of the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers and the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers, and has hosted the largest hockey and basketball crowds in Pennsylvania history. The Center hosted the NBA Finals in the spring of 2001, the NBA All-Star Game in 2002 and the NCAA Tournament in 2001 and 2006.

The Wachovia Center features 30 concession stands on two separate levels and has 23 ticket windows. The building has a unique oval design which ensures no obstructed views for all 20,456 fans. It is also home to the studios of Comcast Sports Net.

Villanova will also help bid farewell to the Wachovia Spectrum, its for-mer home away from home, in its final season as well. The Wildcats host Northwood University and coach Rollie Massimino in a Nov. 6 exhibition game and Pittsburgh on Jan. 28.

Villanova Basketball ExperienceUniquely Villanova

The bond between the Villanova Men’s Basketball program and the community it represents is acknowledged in a series of traditions developed in this decade

Through the Nation’s

HeartlandAt each Pavilion home game, the Wildcats enter the arena before tipoff through the 1,500 seat student section as a sign that they are very much a part of the student population.

Thanks For the Support

Following every Villanova home game, win or lose, the Wildcats appear before the student section as a unit with their fingers in the sign of a “V” to say thanks for bringing energy to the arena.

Farewell Seniors

On Senior Night, the Villanova Basketball seniors meet with their fellow classmates prior to the game to express their appreciation for the four years of passionate cheering on their behalf.
