    y In 1982, Randolph Fields, an American-bornlawyer, and Alan Hellary, a previous chief pilotfor Laker Airways, set up British AtlanticAirways as a direct successor to Laker Airways.Fields met Richard Branson at a party inCentral London during which he proposed abusiness partnership between Branson andhimself to get his fledgeling airline off the

    ground. Fields agreed to a reduced stake of 25%in the airline (renamed Virgin Atlantic) andbecame Virgin Atlantic's first chairman.

    y Sir Richard Charles Nicholas Branson (born 18 July1950) is an English entrepreneur, best known for his Virginbrand of over 360 companies. Branson's first successfulbusiness venture was at age 15, when he published amagazine called Student. In 1972, he opened a chain ofrecord stores, Virgin Records, later known as VirginMegastores in late 2007.
