Environment Virginia State University is a co-ed school Rural environment “Virginia State University uses the term "Residence

Hall" rather than 'Dormitory', which is derived from the Latin word "dormitorium" which means "place to sleep". A residence hall is considered a home-away-from-home, a campus community, not simply a place to sleep.”

Admission Requirements Students are expected to complete a college-preparatory or an

Advanced Studies Program in high school 3 units of higher mathematics (must include Algebra I,

Geometry and Algebra II) 4 units of English 2 units of Science (must include a laboratory science, i.e.

Biology, Chemistry or Physics) 2 units of Social Studies (History, Government, Civics,

Geography) 2 Units of Foreign Language recommended They “Super Score” SAT and ACT scores so they recommend to

take it multiple times Average GPA : 2.80 SAT/ACT Average : 25th / 75th Percentile

Housing First-year undergraduate students are required to live

on-campus, unless their permanent home of residency is within a 25 mile radius of VSU, the student is 21 years of age or older, married or previously married, or has completed a tour of military service

Housing assignments are random for first time freshman and transfer students

About 3000 students live on campus Single rooms are limited but there is plenty of housing

for roommates Rooms are furnished with basic furniture, cable TV,

internet, air-conditioning

Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Unless coordinated earlier, report to the

Office of Admissions located at 20708 Fourth Avenue

Presentation followed by a tour of the university (about an hour and a half long)
