When you hear the words medical malpractice, the immediate image formed is that of a physicianbeing accused of misconduct, negligence, or dereliction of duty. However, as the landscape ofmedicine has changed and continues to change, especially in light of the Covid-19 pandemic, allmedical professionals, including nurses, are susceptible to the risk of a lawsuit. Nurses carry their ownrisk of exposure to claims, whether they perform medical services alongside other medicalprofessionals or perform such services independent of supervision. This course will examine the topareas of liability for nurses and how to navigate the steps of a medical malpractice lawsuit. This coursewill help nurses and their employers understand the litigation process and what processes should beput in place to help protect employers and employees from lawsuits and assist in mitigating liability.
