    and must be used for all applications made on or after that date for the pur-

    poses stated on this page and listed in section 2.

    should read before making your application:

    Our application forms change periodically. If you obtain this form some time

    before applying, please check that it is still the version which must be used

    when you are ready to apply.

    Applications on this form may be made by post or in person at one of ourPublic Enuiry Offices. To apply in person, you must make an appointment.

    Alternatively, you may wish to use the Settlement Checking Service oper-

    ated by a number of local authorities which is generally a faster service than

    the normal postal application process. Please see the UK Border Agencys

    website to see if you can use this service when applying on this form.

    PAYMENT GUIDANCE

    The fee

    The current specified fees for applications on formSET(F) for Child or Adopted Child under the age of18 of a parent, parents or a relative settled in the UKare 972 for postal applications or 1350 for the pre-mium service at one of our Public Enuiry Offices.For Parent, Grandparent or Other Dependent Relativeaged 18 or over of a person present and settled in theUK, applying under para 317 of the immigration rulesthe fee is 1814 for postal applications.We offer a premium service to people who applyin person at our Public Enuiry Offices (PEOs) forParent, Grandparent or Other Dependent Relativeaged 18 or over of a person present and settled in theUK, applying under para 317 of the immigration rules.This service is available only for applications whichare straightforward and do not reuire further enuir-ies.     WhO MAY APPLY WITh YOU?

    The immigration rules for the categories for which youmust use form SET(F) do not allow any dependants.In view of this, nobody may apply with you as yourdependant on form SET(F). They must apply sepa-rately in their own right.See the separate guidance notes mentioned on thefront page of this form for more information.

    You must pay by one of the methods specified below.

    DEFINITIONS

    For the purposes of answering uestions 6.3 to 6.7, the following information provides guidance on actions

    which may constitute war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide, or terrorist activities.This guidance is not exhaustive. The full definitions of war crimes, crimes against humanity and geno-

    cide can be found in Schedule 8 of the International Criminal Court Act 2001 at www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/

    acts2001/20010017 or purchased from The Stationery Office (telephone 0870 600 5522). It is yourresponsibility to satisfy yourself that you are familiar with the definitions and can answer the uestionsaccurately.

    War crimesGrave breaches of the Geneva Conventions committed during an armed conflict. This includes an inter-nal armed conflict and an international armed conflict. The types of acts that may constitute a war crimeinclude wilful killing, torture, extensive destruction of property not justified by military necessity, unlawfuldeportation, the intentional targeting of civilians and the taking of hostages.

    Crimes against humanityActs committed at any time (not just during armed conflict) as part of a widespread or systematic attack,directed against any civilian population with knowledge of the attack. This would include offences suchas murder, torture, rape, severe deprivation of liberty in violation of fundamental rules of international lawand enforced disappearance of persons.

    GenocideActs committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group.

    Terrorist activitiesAny act committed, or the threat of action, designed to influence a government or intimidate the public andmade for the purposes of advancing a political, religious or ideological cause and that involves seriousviolence against a person; that may endanger another persons life; creates a serious risk to the health or

    safety of the public; involves serious damage to property; is designed to seriously disrupt or interfere withan electronic system.

    Organisations concerned in terrorismAn organisation is concerned in terrorism if it commits or participates in acts of terrorism; prepares for ter-rorism; promotes or encourages terrorism (including the unlawful glorification of terrorism); or is otherwiseconcerned in terrorism.

    REHABILITATION OF OFFENDERS ACT 1974

    The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 enables criminal convictions to become spent or ignored after arehabilitation period. The length of the rehabilitation period depends on the sentence given. For a cus-todial (prison) sentence the rehabilitation period is decided by the original sentence, not the time served.Prison sentences of more than two and a half years can never become spent and should always be dis-closed.     Your police registration certificate if you have been asked to register with the police.

    Document(s) showing the relationship between you and your parent(s) or sponsor, such as full birthcertificates showing the parents names or an adoption order if you are applying as an adopted childunder 18.     S E C T I O N 8 - D O C U M E N T SYou must provide the documents specified below which are relevant to your application. If you do not, we

    reserve the right to decide your application on the basis of the information and documents provided. Tick

    passport/s along with photocopies of any pages that contain personal details, visas or immigration stamps

    in 8B.

    Two recent identical passport-size photographs of yourself with your full name written on the back ofeach photograph. Please see the separate photograph guidance on the approved format.

    S E C T I O N 7 - P H O T O G R A P H S

    It is mandatory to provide the photographs specified below. Please note that this application will be invalid if

    you do not provide them.

    The photographs must be in the format specified in the separate UKBA photograph guidance provided with

    this form. If they are not, they may be rejected as unacceptable and you will have to provide others which

    are acceptable. This will delay consideration of your application.

    Note 2 Since 25 November 2008 , Residence Permits have been issued to certain foreign nationalswhen they have been given permission to remain in the UK. Unless reported lost or stolen, theyshould be enclosed with any application for further permission to stay in the UK.

    8 B Parent, grandparent or other dependent relative aged over 18

    If you are applying in one of these categories, you must provide the following in addition to the rel-evant documents specified in 8A.

    Document(s) showing that you are wholly or mainly financially dependent on your sponsor.

    Credit transfer slips or other document(s) from your sponsor as evidence of the support that they

    have provided to you over the last 6 months. (Please note that this evidence should demonstrate

    money transferring from your sponsor to you.)

    A doctors letter or certificate with relevant details if you have any condition(s) for which you reuire

    medical treatment (see Note 5).

    Note 5The document(s) must be from a Registered Medical Practitioner or General Practitioner and mustcontain information about the nature of your illness or condition, the treatment reuired and its esti-mated duration.

    Evidence of finances. Bank statements, building society savings book(s), pay slips or other financial

    documents as evidence that you can and will be maintained and accommodated without recourseto public funds by your parent(s) or other relative who is sponsoring you (see Note 4).

    Note 4The documents showing the finances available to you and/or to the person sponsoring you shouldcover at least the last 3 months. We do not accept internet or cashpoint statements as evidence offinances.

    Note 3

    If your sponsor or parent(s) is a British citizen without a passport, you must provide his/her full birth

    certificate (showing the parents names), accompanied by at least one other formal document as

    evidence of ordinary residence in the UK for the last three years. Anyone born in the UK on or after

    1 January 1983 will only be a British citizen by birth if a parent is a British citizen or settled in the

    UK at the time of birth. In that case, we will need evidence of the nationality or immigration status

    of his or her parents at the time of birth for us to be satisfied that he or she is a British citizen.

    If your sponsor or parent(s) is a non-British citizen without a passport, you must provide a HomeOffice letter or other document showing that he/she has been granted indefinite leave to enter or

    remain in the UK, accompanied by at least one other formal document as evidence of ordinary

    residence in the UK for the last three years.

    The following are examples of formal documents that may be provided as evidence of ordinary resi-

    dence for the last three years: notice of income tax coding, driving licence, building society savings

    book(s) /bank statements, National Insurance or National Health Service registration issued by the

    Department for Work and Pensions or a local health authority.
