Visionary Solutions encoders produce full-motion, full-resolution standard or high definition video streams inMPEG-2 or h.264/MPEG-4 formats. Video and audio areprocessed in real time for digital delivery to private orpublic viewers connected to high speed LANs, WANsor the Internet. Advantages include:

VSI encoders provide audio/video quality that rivals competitivebroadcast equipment costing up to five times more. Depending on the product, our encoders can provide from1.5 to 15 megabits per second (Mbps). MPEG-2 at 4 - 7 Mbps is roughly equivalent to what you’d see from adigital cable feed or home satellite dish and very close to a DVD. Higher bit rates give you a little moresharpness, fewer artifacts and crisper color. They are recommended for the most critical applications.

The latest compression standard, referred to as h.264 or MPEG-4 Part 10/AVC, is up to four times more efficientthan MPEG-2 and can deliver standard or high definition video with a huge savings in bandwidth.

Each AVN unit encodes one channel of standard or high definitionvideo and audio and streams it at extremely high quality over LANor WAN infrastructures. Each encoder connects via a standardRJ-45 Ethernet port and provides 30 frames per second and fullscreen resolution of 720 x 480 (or 1920 x 1080)–or you can streamat a reduced resolution to conserve bandwidth. The MPP1700 is a 3RU rack mount chassis that houses Visionary Solutions’ IPTV Media Processing Platform. The Media Processing Platform is a high density blade style system for IPTV transport. The MPP1700 can be filled with VSI blade products such as the AVN220 or AVN420 encoder blades. Use one PSA200 or add an optional second PSA200 for dual redundant power supply support. The MPP1700 is designed to be mounted in a standard 19 inch rack and oriented such that the blade insertion, cabling and indicators are facing out the front of the rack. Only the AC power connection is located on the back of the unit.

Slots 1-17 on the chassis can be filled with any VSI blade product. Slots 18 and 20 can be filled with power supplies. At least one of the power supply slots must be filled. For dual redundant power supply support, both power supply slots must be populated.

The MPP1700 has top and bottom vents in its cover to allow for proper cooling. Airflow is directed out of the rear of the unit. Three fan ports and ample airflow throughout the unit ensure fail-safe thermal management of the Media Processing Platform. The dual redundant power supplies and all other modules are hot swappable.

The PSA200 power supply is an international AC input (100-240VAC, 200 Watt) unit provided for use within Visionary Solutions,Inc.’s IPTV Media Processing Platform. This platform complieswith the compact PCI standard and is 3RU high by 8HP wide.Housed within an MPP1700 chassis, this power supply can beused singly or in tandem for dual redundant support. As withother Media Processing Platform modules, the power suppliesare hot swappable.

The PSA200 powers Visionary Solutions’ Media ProcessingPlatform, populating slots 18 and 20 (see below). The multi-cast loader is installed on a Linux PC at the head-end, and transmits the software image in a continuouscarousel, ensuring rapid start-up regardless of the number ofset-tops in the system. It is therefore completely scalable.

InstallationThe AmiNET125 is supplied with a country-specific plug-toppower supply, and a choice of video cable. An external ADSLor other modem is required for connection to the broadbandnetwork. Installer configuration is on-screen via internal HTMLpages.
