Good company and all things cowboy and cow-girl visitors can roundup for the junior high rodeo finals andan evening concert with up and coming country bands.
MAYLocalFest. Hosted annually by the Sublette Local Food Al-liance, this week long event brings together hundreds of in-dividuals from across the Rocky Mountain West, who areengaged in all aspects of "localness" including localeconomies, local food and local distribution. Theconference includes hands on workshops, keynotespeakers, a film festival, and visits to local farms,henhouses and community gardens.
JUNEPinedale Farmers Market. A weekly mar-ket held in the summer months for localand regional growers, artisans and gour-mands. Markets are held on Thursdaysfrom 4:00pm - 7:00pm downtownPinedale between Rock Rabbit andthe Visitor's Center.
Annual Horseshoe Pitch. Sincethe 1976, the Pinedale Boat Clubhas hosted the tournament thathas attracted competitors andspectators alike the first Satur-day in June. Registration be-gins at 10AM and pitchingbegins at 11AM. This is a blinddraw doubles tournament with$500 added purse. Entry feeincludes club membership andtournament fee $50.00 and isheld at American Legion Park.
JULYGreen River Rendezvous.Pinedale’s oldest and longest standing cultural event is heldannually the second weekend in July and is enjoyed by visitorsand locals alike. The four day celebration includes the GreenRiver Rendezvous Pageant, in which local participants re-cre-ate an authentic rendezvous in full costume to give a lively, his-torical performance of this unique time in Pinedale andAmerican history. Vendor Street Fair, Museum of the Mountainspecialty tours and demonstrations, Kids’ Fishing Derby, “Spiritof the Winds” Fireworks Show, 3-on-3 Rendezvous BasketballTournament, Rendezvous Parade, live music, and the NativeAmerican Dance performances makes this Pinedale’s biggestsummer event. www.sublettechamber.com.
AUGUSTWind River Rodeo Series. Friday nights at the PinedaleRodeo Grounds fans get to experiencean authentic rodeo. These rodeosharken back to the earliest roots of ourcowboy history with events like RanchSaddle Bronc and Team Doctoringwhile embracing the competitive na-ture of today’s modern rodeo withBronc Riding, Bull Riding, BarebackRiding, Team Roping, Tie-downRoping, BreakawayRoping, and BarrelRacing. A favorite ofthe night is to excitethose little bucka-roos with the Mut-ton Busting and aCalf Scramble. Itall takes place intwo hours of ac-tion-packed ex-citement and fun forthe entire family. Sailing Regatta on FremontLake. The sport of sailingembarks on Wyoming’ssecond largest lake thesecond weekend of August. Often times racers have to travelfar to compete, so it's exciting to have the annual two day,five-race competition right here in our backyard. SEPTEMBERPinedale Half Marathon at Fremont Lake. At autumn’s peak,the Pinedale Half Marathon draws all walks of life, even therunning ones, annually on the fourth Saturday of the month.The event includes a run/walk for the entire half (13.1 miles),a 10K (6.2 miles) or a one mile course. A FREE CommunityBBQ is open to everyone after the race. Visitors from all overthe states are drawn to this family friendly marathon, espe-cially participants with young ones…quality childcare is of-fered from the Pinedale Aquatic Center to children ages 6weeks to 12 years old on race day. Turn left onto Highway189/County Road-181 and continue for approxi-mately 32 miles. Follow all signs and stay on US-189 for approximately 95 miles. Take slightright to Highway 191 and travel 10 miles to enterPinedale.
MUSEUM OF THE MOUNTAIN MANDuring the years 1824-1840, the Pinedale region was atthe heart of the Rocky Mountain Fur Trade, which supplied precious beaver pelts to the fashion industriesof Europe and the eastern United States. Mountain menlike Jim Bridger, Kit Carson, Thomas Fitzpatrick andWilliam Sublette carved their legends here, and openedthe way for the pioneers of the Oregon Trail. The Museum of the Mountain Man shares a comprehensivecollection of Rocky Mountain fur trade journals, relics suchas Jim Bridger’s Rifle and the finest Native American sheephorn bow still in existence. AMERICAN LEGION PARKThe American Legion Park is a beautiful setting that attracts locals and visitors daily with its lush grass, healthyestablished trees, walking path, gazebo, seating areas, 24/7public restroom and proximity to the peaceful flow of PineCreek. Pinedale is a community that cares about its veter-ans and its history as seen by the Veteran’s Memorial mon-ument. 68,000 pounds of granite, large glossy blackgranite panels engraved with the names of those whoserved surround a central column that is topped with abronze sculpture of two soaring eagles with the inscription“Honor, Service, Pride.” Members of Fremont Peak VFWPost 4801 conducted extensive research with veterans’names going back several generations to the SpanishAmerican War.
ELKHART PARKElkhart Park is the highest trailhead in the Wind RiverRange starting at 9,100 feet and the surrounding peaksclimb to 13,000 feet. Elkhart trailhead is approximately15 miles northeast of Pinedale with good paved road access and a parking lot. The first four miles of trail guideshikers through fairly dense forest. After five miles is Photographers Point, which offers a glimpse at the Divide and is an excellent day hike. Begin descendingdown towards a series of small lakes and ponds. You willcontinue past about three small lakes, all of which offerfishing possibilities. The trail continues past Seneca Lakeand Little Seneca Lake and over another small pass.Throughout the hike there will be many places to replenish your water with the exception of the first fivemiles. A favorite spot to fill up is just before the ascent toSeneca at Fremont Creek. This is about the half way pointand the water is cool and clean.
CCC PONDS RECREATION AREAThe CCC Ponds Recreation Area holds historical significance as one of the nation's first Civilian Conservation Corp camps, Camp Fremont, during the
New Deal Program in 1933. Locally appreciated for opportunities to shoreline fish, hike, picnic, bike ride, crosscounty ski, observe wildlife…all possible in a day’s visit. Toget to the ponds, take Fremont Lake Road to FS Road749 to FS Road 111 and enter on the left.

A 1.5 mile drive on Fremont Lake Road welcomes you to the rolling foothills and backdrop ofWind River Mountain’s spectacular peaks. Fremont Lake is12 miles long, half a mile wide, and 600 feet deep, making it the second largest natural lake in Wyoming andone of America's deepest. This stunning example of glacial geology was named for explorer John C. Fremont(1813-1890). It should come as no surprise that FremontLake is the recreational hub of Pinedale. It’s a beautiful,pristine and an undeveloped destination that offers easyaccess to outdoor activities summer and winter and is afocal point for popular annual events.

PINEDALE AQUATIC CENTERThe “PAC” is a 71,000 square foot recreation facility forall ages. Patrons find the competition lap pool with a diving board and the leisure pool complete with a three-story spiral waterslide, spraying submarine, tumble-buckets, hot tub, and a current channel as sure favorites. Designed as rugged as Pinedale’s surroundingmountains, the PAC has an array of activities; a 32-footclimbing wall, cardio areas, fitness classes, racquetball, anindoor walking track, a multi-purpose gymnasium, outdoor tennis courts, and child care services. KID’S FISHING PONDVisitors to the Pinedale area have unique fishing opportunities for young children or those with limited
time to fish can throw in a line at the stocked Kid's Fishing Pond at Boyd Skinner Park. The park features aplayground, picnic tables, a paved walking bath, Harmony Bridge over Pine Creek, and public restrooms.Kids 13 and under can catch up to six fish without a license if accompanied by a parent. From Highway 191turn south on Franklin and travel two blocks.
WRANGLER SKATE PARKStreet and freestyle athletes will particularly want to takea break here and it’s best to try to catch it earlier in theday before the locals show up! The skateboard park is located across the street from the Sublette County Library. It includes the skateboard park, beach volleyballcourt, picnic tables, a basketball court and restrooms.
SANDY BEACHSandy Beach is located on the southeast shore of the pristine Fremont Lake at an elevation of 7,400 feet, justthree miles northeast of Pinedale. Sunbathers, swimmers,kayakers, paddle boarders, snorklers, ice fishers, and crosscountry skiers will cherish the easy access to enjoy a bitof Fremont Lake on their travels. From Highway 191, travelnorth onto Skyline Drive for 2.5 miles, turn left onto Forest Service Road 749. Follow the road to the left at the"Y" intersection, and continue for a half-mile to the entrance of Sandy Beach. Sandy Beach glacial water isPinedale's drinking supply and dogs are not permitted onor around the shoreline of the lake.
RENDEZVOUS GOLF COURSEVisitors will be awed by the breathtaking views of theWind River Mountains golfing at Rendezvous MeadowsGolf Course. Surprisingly this golf course includes a proshop, driving range, putting green and the 19th Hole Barwhere you're likely to see the widest demographics ofgolfers: from ranchers to drillers to children, everyone iswelcome on the nine hole course. In the winter, two 1-mile loops are groomed for cross country skiing to provide a convenience for skiers. Trails can be accessedon Country Club Lane across from the Sublette IceArena. SUBLETTE ICE ARENAHome to the Pinedale Glaciers, Wind River Skate Club,and Wind River Archers Archery Club, the Sublette IceArena hosts several programs, tournaments and specialclinics year round. Visitor's find the facilities and ice tobe outstanding, and often return for public skate.
