The Eurest identity symbolises our approach and commitments, it consists of two elements: the swirling Eurest Symbol and the Eurest Logotype. Together they show who we are and indicate the values we represent.

Brand Values have been developed for Eurest to set us apart from our competitors. Our values make Eurest unique and therefore we must protect them in everything we do.

Logos

The Eurest Brand Signature is made up of the Eurest Symbol and the Eurest Logotype, written in an unique typestyle.

The standard Eurest Signature is Eurest Blue and Eurest Red on a white background. The symbol and logotype appear in two signature configurations:

1. The preferred version stacked vertically (portrait)

2. An alternative horizontal version (landscape)

The horizontal version should only be used where restricted vertical space prevents the use of the preferred signature.

3. The signature should no appear smaller than 10mm, measured by the width of the logotype.

Artwork for the Eurest Signature is supplied on Mercury, the Compass Group intranet site.

4. For single colour reproduction use Eurest Blue on a white background. The signature may also appear white on a background of Eurest Blue.

5. Where Eurest Blue is not available for single colour use, the signature may appear in black on a white background or white on a black background.

Logo rules

To help maintain the visual integrity of the Eurest Signature, it should not appear to be crowded by or linked to any other elements. The signature should not be placed very close to the edge of any item or application.

Always observe at least the ‘minimum clear space’ around the signature, indicated above by the blue key lines.

The minimum clear space is calculated using the cap height of the initial E in the Eurest Logotype.

Never redraw or change the arrangement of the signature elements.

3. Never modify the signature elements e.g. by adding a shadow.

4. Never add another element to the signature elements

5. Never replace the symbol or logotype with an alternative image or text.

The Eurest symbol may not normally be used alone. Only in special circumstances may the symbol be used on its own as specifi ed in this manual.

1. The signature may also appear in Blue and Red on light colour backgrounds of 10% tint value or less.

2. The signature may appear in white only on photographic backgrounds, which are dark enough to provide good contrast.

Logo - use with additional lines

Strapline and Country NamesA strapline may be added to the Eurest Signature if desired. See examples to the left.

In these cases the additional words are typeset in ITC Garamond Book Italic and arranged with the Eurest Signature as shown to the left. Straplines should only be used with prior agreement from Group Market Development .

1. How to position Eurest as a foodservice provider when it is introduced into a new territory e.g. Eurest Foodservice Specialists.

2. No other typeset or confi guration is permitted, and no information other than an authorized ‘strapline’ may be placed below the Eurest Signature in this way.

3. Where required, country names e.g. Eurest Scotland should be typeset in Frutiger Roman as part of an address block.

4. Where it is necessary for country businesses to position Eurest in sectors other than B&I, this should be done through title wording on sector specifi c communication materials using the standard Eurest Signature.

5. The Eurest Signature should not be directly associated with other sectors (e.g. healthcare, education), through the use of a strapline.

Do not refer to the sector by amending the signature.

Logo - joint ventures

Where we operate under a joint venture model, we ask that you adhere to the following guidelines.

Each situation is different and the country businesses are encouraged to contact Group Market Development to discuss and work through the local issues together, adopting solutions which may have been successful elsewhere in the business.

When using more than one logo it is important to respect the exclusion zone around each logo. Two sample arrangements are shown here.

Logo - use of the symbolas a super-graphic

The Eurest Symbol may be used as a decorative Super-Graphic for brochures, folder and document covers, menus, invitations and other similar items.

See the literature section for examples of applications and colour use.

For corporate applications the Super-Graphic should appear in an 8% screen tint (or equivalent) of Eurest Blue on a white background. Other subtle fi nishes such as blind embossing or varnishing may be used.

Artwork for the Eurest Super-Graphic is available on Mercury, the Compass Group intranet site.

1. For all shapes and formats, the symbol should be cropped in the special way indicated, bleeding off of the top and left edges of an application.

2. The Eurest Super-Graphic may be used alone.

3. In combination with the full Eurest signature.

4. Additionally with other text information.

Colours

Primary coloursFor reproduction in spot or special colours, Eurest Blue and Red should be matched to PANTONE® 286 and PANTONE® Rubine Red. PANTONE® is a registered trademark of Pantone, Inc.

Secondary coloursTo enrich the appearance of some Eurest branded items, a palette of secondary colours has been selected. These may be used in conjunction with the corporate colours on literature and other applications.

The secondary colours may be used as a background for a white Eurest Signature, but should never be used to reproduce the signature itself.

The secondary colour palette is achieved using the Pantone colours listed below:

Typography

Eurest and its suppliers must purchase the corporate typefaces.

The standard typeface for text is ITC Garamond Book or Light, with ITC Garamond Book Italic used for headings and emphasis.

For stationery, forms, technical and numerical information and charts and graphs use Adobe Frutiger Light or Roman, with Adobe Frutiger Bold or Black for headings, titles or additional emphasis.

Snell BT Regular may be used where a script typestyle is required. The use of this typeface is limited and should not be used for large amounts of continuous text matter.

The use of handwriting in Eurests’ communications will help to reinforce the human and personal service we provide. The style should be calligraphic and elegant.

Handwriting can be used for one-off applications or frequently updated information, for example, invitations or menu cards.

Handwriting may also be used on printed materials in the form of large graphic elements to highlight key words or messages.

Using endorsements

The Compass Group endorsement logo is used to give authority as an endorsement to the highly successful group of operating companies and foodservice brands for which Compass Group is the parent.

1. This endorsement logo combines two elements: the Compass Group logo and the endorsement text ‘A member of Compass Group PLC.’

2. The Compass Group endorsement text only version uses just the text line: ‘A member of Compass Group PLC.’ The text only version is used as an alternative to the endorsement logo, particularly when space on stationery and literature items is restricted.

3. Use of the endorsement text with sector brand logo.

4. Example of endorsement logo use on back cover of brochure and example of text only endorsement on business card.

ColourThe Compass Group endorsement logo can be printed in black and gold or in black only.

TypefaceThe endorsement text, whether used as part of the endorsement logo or on its own, may be set inHelvetica Neue 55 Roman or to match the operating company’s house typeface. In all cases ‘PLC’ is set at 0.5 pt less than ‘A memberof Compass Group’ and never in an italic version of a typeface.

Minimum sizesTo determine the minimum size of the Compass Group endorsement logo use the length of the Compass Group logotype as a unit of measurement.

This value represents ‘X’. The minimum size for ‘X’ is 16mm wide. The minimum point size of the Compass Group endorsement text only version (‘A member of Compass Group’) is 5.5pt, (‘PLC’) 5 pt.

Paper

For office stationery: We highly recommend you use Conqueror CX22 Smooth Brilliant White paper (which is suitable for litho offset and digital printing).

The Conqueror range is produced to ISO 9002 and 14001 standards using cellulose free of chlorine. It is also resistant to aging and appropriate for archive storage (ISO 9706).

Its quality allows us to use a lighter weight paper.

For brand literature: Brochures and leaflets are essential to our business, but can use large quantities of paper stock.

In order to minimise Compass Group’s impact on the environment we insist on using a high percentage recycled paper such as Revive.

The Revive range maintains a quality feel and high environmental standards. Revive products are fully biodegradable and recyclable and produced in mills which hold ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accreditations.

When you print using this stock, please always use the relevant environmental endorsements on the rear cover, to re-assure our customers of our considered approach.

If required, covers are sealed using matt laminate. Do not use gloss laminate, UV, gloss or matt varnish.

Our Group’s strategy is to communicate with our clients through our sector brands (e.g. Eurest, Eurest Services, Medirest, Scolarest) and our foodservice brands (e.g. Caffè Liscio, Delimarché, Amigo). All of these brands and services are offered through companies which are members of Compass Group and should follow the relevant guidelines.

Communication to our clients and consumers is managed mainly at a local level, on a country-by-country basis and for consistency follows agreed corporate and brand standards.

At the same time it is extremely important that the Group has a consistent presence on the web, as an international and highly visible means of communication.

Country Websites Larger businesses within the Group that have a sectorised model, will usually have one web site for their business using the group identity and a similar architecture (site map) to the Group site (www.compass-group.com).

Registration of new website domain names and renewal of existing ones should be managed through the Group Legal team based at Chertsey.

Guidelines for Compass Group branded websites are available from Group Internal Communications. These guidelines should be used for all new sites and those existing sites being re-designed after the beginning of 2009.

For countries that have Eurest as their holding company, the Eurest identity should be used.

Note: A link to the Group site should always be made, rather than extracting or repeating information in the local site. Information for investors MUST only be included on www.compass-group.com, as all investor relations activity is managed centrally for the Group.

Branded items

Promotional and gift itemsPromotional and gift items should be branded with the Eurest Signature. Where vertical space is limited the horizontal version of the signature should be used.

The full range of Eurest background colours may be utilised for these items, including the secondary colour palette.

Where required, on special promotional or gift items, the signature may appear in a range of ‘non-colour’ fi nishes, for example silver, gold, embossed, engraved and etched.

In addition to the signature, the Eurest Symbol may be used as a decorative super-graphic, appearing in combinations of the secondary colour palette.

Examples shown are for illustrative purposes only.

UniformsAppropriate items of uniform or work clothing should be branded with the Eurest Signature.

A full colour signature may be stitched or printed directly onto white clothing or be part of a name badge.

On badges, the signature used and layout will alter to fi t the badge format. Names and titles should be typeset in ITC Garamond Book and Book Italic.
