ContrastImage 1

✪ Typography Design & FontNumerous typeface choices are present where some parts of the text are displayed in uppercase letters or otherwise. Most of the text are also in black, causing a lack of contrast.

✪ Layout Design/AlignmentThere seems to be a lack of contrast within the entire layout of which the only primary color being utilized is black. With the entire textual content filled in black, readers are not able to discern the main points from other extraneous information.

✪ Color BalanceColor balance is present with black and white as the primary color. Contrast is only achieved via the orange fill for each subtopic.

ContrastImage 2

✪ Typography Design & FontContrast is achieved via the size of tont and its typeface. All subtopics are in bold with distinct colors to provide contrast.

✪ Layout Design/Alignment The layout is attractive with a range of colors that provide contrast to the entire piece. The colorful floral elements aid in providing the white dull spread some liveliness. Alignment of text on two sides differ (straight vs. curve) inducing contrast.

✪ Color BalanceColor balance is present, essentially grey and white balance. Text are filled with two different colors and are used to indicate the distinction between the different central topics splayed on both pages.

REpEtitionImage 1

✪ Typography Design & Font There are inconsistencies of which the uppercase and lowercase letters are not distributed evenly, causing the spread to have no form of repetition. There is also an inconsistency in the usage of font type (varying from Sans Serif and Script Type font).

✪ Layout Design/AlignmentInconsistencies exist within the alignment of paragraphs of which some are aligned left while others are centered. The only repetitive elements are the arrow symbols and the blue circles.

✪ Color BalanceRepetition by means of color is very minimal with only subtopics colored in with orange fill. Much of the text and other elements are black and with the lack of repetition, it is not visually appealing.

REpetitionImage 2

✪ Typography Design & Font Repetition is found within the typography design of which a standard font was utilized for the central topics, sub topics, and content text. Readability is also enhanced when the font is clear and crisp.

✪ Layout Design/Alignment The overall design brings good repetition via its design elements (floral elements on both sides of the spread). Consistency is also seen in the width and height of gaps in between text and images.

✪ Color BalanceRepetition of color is present and is utilize for the function of linking the central topic with the subtopics as well as highlighting the important points with colors that are within a similar color range of the specific central topic/subtopic.

ALIGNMENTImage 1

✪ Typography Design & Font Vertical alignment of typography is inconsistent. Certain paragraphs are aligned flush-left while the bottom portion does not belong to either the left or right column.

✪ Layout Design/Alignment Although the multi-column layout design appears to be appropriate, but as the text is not fully justified – the white space between both columns appear to look uneven, causing the entire layout to appear disorganized.

ALIGNMENTImage 2

✪ Typography Design & Font The layout exhibits the consistent usage of one particular font, as shown for the document’s headline and content portion with a Sans Serif Type font. The The overall alignment of text is consistent with a horizontal (flush-left) and vertical alignment, allowing the formation of equal margins and about the same amount of overall white space on both sides of the page.

✪ Layout Design/Alignment Images within the spread are also aligned uniformly on both pages with equal white spaces between each image. Such images have a placement at a specific portion on the spread, enabling readers to distinguish the different content.

ProximityImage 1

✪ Typography Design & Font There is a lack of proximity as information is not organized clearly, considering that different font types, sizes, and typeface exist within the entire piece.

✪ Layout Design/Alignment The overall layout lacks proximity as textual elements are not group accordingly – this might ultimately lead to the spread’s incompetence in conveying its central message. The flow of the text is disrupted with the two protruding paragraphs at the bottom that may cause reader confusion. The images on the top right and bottom left of the poster have no semblance and bears similar relevance.

Page 10: Visual Journal 2

ProximityImage 2

✪ Typography Design & Font Proximity is achieved as textual elements (‘Welcome’ and ‘Feature Events’ page) are grouped according to specific colors and typeface for the central topics, subtopics, and highlighted points, enhancing readability.

✪ Layout Design/Alignment There seems to be good proximity as elements are grouped accordingly to their topics. The images displayed are also of significant relevance to the message/topic being delivered.
