Introduction to NSX-T 2The VMware vRealize Operations Management Pack for NSX-T allows you to retrieve alerts and findingsfrom NSX-T to vRealize Operations Manager.

Installing NSX-T 3The VMware vRealize Operations Management Pack for NSX-T consists of a PAK file that containsdefault dashboards for the objects that the solution identifies.

Prerequisites

n Download the PAK file for VMware vRealize Operations Management Pack for NSX-T from VMwareMarketplace.

n Save that PAK file to a temporary folder on your local system.

Procedure

1 Log in to the vRealize Operations Manager user interface with administrator privileges.

2 In the left pane of vRealize Operations Manager, click the Administration icon and click Solutions.

3 On the Solutions tab, click the plus sign.

4 Browse to locate the temporary folder and select the PAK file.

5 Click Upload. The upload might take several minutes.

6 Read and accept the EULA, and click Next. Installation details appear in the window during theprocess.

7 When the installation is completed, click Finish.

Configure an adapter instance for the management pack.

Configuring NSX-T 4After you install the management pack, configure an instance for NSX-T.

Procedure

1 On the menu, click Administration and in the left pane click Solutions.

2 Select NSX-T Management Pack and click the Configure icon.

3 Configure the adapter instance.

Option Description

Display Name The name for the adapter instance.

Description (Optional) The description of the adapter instance.

NSX-T Manager Enter the FQDN, the IP address, or the Virtual IP of the NSX-T manager.

Credential Select te credential you want to use to sign on to the environment from the drop-down menu. To add new credentials to access the NSX-T environment , click theplus sign.

n Credential Name. The name by which you are identifying the configuredcredentials.

n User Name. The user name of the NSX-T instance.

n Password. The password of the NSX-T instance.

4 Click Test Connection to validate the connection.

5 Click Save Settings.

The adapter instance is added to the list.

What to do next

Verify that the adapter is configured and collecting data by viewing application-related data.

Alerts in NSX-T 6The following alerts are triggered when any of the monitoring resources in NSX-T display an unexpectedbehavior.

Triggered when the management service on the NSX-T hostis not running.

Please log in to the NSX-TManager and restart the failedmanagement service.

Logical Switch's admin state isnot UP

Triggered when the admin state is disabled on the logicalswitch.

Please log in to NSX-T andenable the admin state if it isintended so.

Edge Node Controller/ManagerConnectivity is not UP

Triggered when the edge node connectivity status is downin NSX-T.

Please check the Edge nodeconnection status with ControllerCluster and Manager Clusterand fix the broken connection.

Edge Host node is in Failed/Error state

Triggered when the host node in NSX-T is in error or failedstate due to one of the following reasons:

n Edge configuration error

n Installation failure

n Uninstallation failure

n Upgrade failure

n Virtual Machine deployment failure

n Virtual Machine power off failure

n Virtual Machine power on failure

n Virtual Machine undeployment failure

Edge host node is in failed/errorstate, please check the hostnode state and fix the issue.

BFD service is disabled Triggered when the BFD service is not enabled on thelogical router.

BFD Service for a TIER0 routeris not enabled even thoughneighbors are configured.Please enable the BFD service ifrequired.

NAT rule not configured Triggered when the NAT rule on the logical router is notconfigured.

Please log in to the NSX-TManager and add the NAT rulesfor the Logical Router.

Triggered when all the controller nodes are down in NSX-T. Please check the status ofcontroller cluster.

Triggered when the guest file systems usage of theController Virtual Machine is more than 85 percent.

Dashboards in NSX-T 7The NSX-T Main dashboard provides an overview of the network objects. It displays the topology of aselected object, how it connects to the elements in the network, and a view of related alerts.

NSX-T Instances Displays the list of environments that are being monitored. When you select anenvironment in this widget, the other widgets in the NSX-T Main dashboard displaydata for the selected adapter.

Environment Overview Displays a top-level view of the selected environment and following keycomponents.
