Card 1 

APPALLED(Verb)

 Definition: to make someone have strong feelings of shock or of disapproval Example

Q’s tags: Oh , my god! It was an appalling horror movie, mainly because of the special effects, wasn’t it?

BORE(Verb)

 Definition: 1. To make a hole in or through, with or as if with a drill  2. To form (a tunnel, for example) by drilling, digging, or burrowing.

Example

Past tense: They bored a hole in the ground to search for minerals.

Card 3 

DAM(Noun)

 Definition: A wall built across a river that stops the river’s flow and collects the water, especially to make a reservoir (= an artificial lake) that provides water for an Area.

Example

Past tense: The Nile dam is the biggest in Egypt and around the world.

DISMISSIVE(Adjective)

 Definition: Showing that you do not think something is worth considering

Example

Past tense: Mario’s positive attitude is as dismissive as Fernando’s attitude.

 Definition: Something that you have to do because it is part of your job, or something that you feel is the right thing to do.

Example

Reported questions: She asked me, what time are you on duty tomorrow?

 Definition: surrounded by walls, objects, or structures

Example

Tag Q’s: Mario is afraid of enclosed spaces, isn’t he?

FAKE (Noun)

 Definition: 1. an object that is made to look real or valuable in order to deceive people 2. someone who is not what or who they say they are

Example

As: As a damage watch that painting is a fake.

GRIND(Verb)

 Definition: to make something into small pieces or a powder by pressing between hard surfaces Example

Used to: My grandfather used to grind the grain into flour by using two large stones.

 Definition: a violent person who fights or causes damage in public places Example

Like: Nowadays children, like criminals, sprayed a new car all with red color..

 Definition: done or said without earlier planning or preparation Example

Future They will never find out that it was an impromptu party. “WILL”

 Definition: an evergreen plant (one that never loses its leaves) that often grows up trees or buildings Example

Modals: To cover those fences they might use the plant Ivy. “MIGHT”

 Definition: to move from side to side or up and down with quick short movements, or to make something do this 

Example

Conditionals: If the door won’t open, try jiggling the key in the lock.

 Definition: 1. a piece of solid substance, usually with no particular shape. (noun) 2. t put together in a single group without discrimination (verb) Example

Would: The Teacher would lump the shy Mateo into the Students in order to avoid desolation.

 Definition: To try to change or have an influence on thigs that are not your responsibility, especially by criticizing in damaging or annoying way.  

Example

Should: People should not meddle in other people’s affairs or problems.

 Definition: A flat piece of glass, used in a window or door. Example

Future: I will buy a window pane for my bed room. “WILL”

 Definition: 1. the fact of an animal that has claws or nails such as a cat, dog or bear. 2. a human hand

 Definition: a thin, pointed piece of metal with a raised edge twisting round along its length and a flat top with a cut in it, used to join things together, especially pieces of wood Example
