Summary Workstation

1. Reread the week’s reading. While you are reading, think

about what is being read.

2. Discuss with your group what information from the

reading you believe to be important. Include specific

examples.

3. Use the information from what you read and what you

discussed with your group and create a complete summary

including specific examples. Show details. Think about all

the major events of the assigned reading.

VisualizationWorkstation Directions: Visualizing helps you make a movie

in your mind of the words/scenes you are

reading on a page in your book. After reading,

draw in detail a major scene that you

visualized. Below your picture include a short

summary or description of your visualization. It

must be colored! I can make a movie in my mind to support what is happening in my story.

Group Discussion Workstation DIRECTIONS: Discuss the following questions with your team. AFTER you discussed them,

write what you discussed in your booklet. You must show evidence to prove your answers.

1. What did the author want you to think about the main character? What scenes

or events in the story made you think this is what the author wanted

you to think? Prove why you think as you do about the main character using examples from the book.

2. What motivation(s) does the character have to do the things he/she does, the

decisions he/she make, and the things he/she says? How would the story be different if that

motivation was different?

3. What was the cause and effect of any one of the happenings/events in

the story? In other words, what made events happen? Was it something someone

did, or said, or something that just happened? Basically, the cause and effect of

something happening.

Poetry Workstation

story/section of one of the

characters or events. The poem

must be at least 12 lines long and

must use at least 4 different

elements of figurative language.

releasing it out through my mouth. I fill my lungs with big air again, hold it, and release it slowly. After ten inhales and exhales, I reach to hit the light switch and notice my fake black spider chillin’ behind the soap dish. I snatch it up and shove it in my pocket.
