Each week perform in front of your peers and rapidly strengthen your chops with the support of an experienced jazz vocal coach and accompanist. Discover the mechanics of singing essential to the vocal art, learning to sing in close harmony with others and vocal improvisation! Various styles from the jazz idiom will be introduced in the spirit of great ensembles like Take 6, Lambert, Hendricks & Ross and New York Voices. Concerts for Vocal Ensemble! Each semester culminates with a public performance backed by a professional jazz band and community showcases. Ages: 14 – 18 Level: Intermediate Auditions: Pre-placement required Instructor: Tamara Mayers Tamara Mayers is a caribbean jazz vocalist, composer, arranger, and educator with a passion for sharing jazz with the younger generation. She is a recent graduate of the Michigan State University Jazz Studies Master's program. Her philosophy about working with young vocalists: "I want every young singer that I teach to find their own voice and their own style.
