2014 conTracT for careTakerThe Municipality has accepted Benoit Soucy’s bid for caretaker of the Town Hall, library and Recreation Centre for 2014. Mr. Soucy has been caretaker for municipal buildings since 2011.

purchase of MoBile radios for roads deparTMenTGiven that the current communication system is inadequate for the needs of the roads department, the purchase of nine mobile radios was authorised. They will be installed in municipal vehicles.

requesT To The MTq for sTop signs aT The corner of The 138 and roy sT. and speed reducTion To 50 kM / h.Roy St. has become very busy as a result of rebuilding the Centenaire Bridge. A number of drivers use it as a bypass and this increases the risk of accidents. The Municipality has asked the MTQ (Ministry of transport) to install stop signs at this intersection and reduce the speed limit from 70 km to 50 km in this area.

A recent response from the MTQ (Ministère des Transports du Québec) indicates that they maintain their stance of refusal to install stop signs that were requested by the Municipality.

closure of roy sT.Following a fatal accident last November 29th at the intersection of the 138 and Roy St., the Municipality decided to close access to Roy St. from the 138 while the bridge is being rebuilt. Along with the MTQ’s implementation of a shuttle bus, this initiative involves many changes in the habits of citizens, but we are counting on everyone’s collaboration to ease the situation.

group insurance conTracT for 2014Because the group insurance contract with Desjardins Financières Inc. terminated December 31, 2013, the Municipality requested offers of service. The offer from “La Capitale” has been retained for 2014.

exTension of The posiTion for assisTanT-inspecTorGiven that the position of assistant- inspector was to terminate in December 2013, and because several files remain to be updated, it was decided to extend the position until the end of April 2014, at two days per week.

conTracT for archivisTThe Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec regulations state that documents must be sorted and archived. For three days at the end of each year, the Municipality employs the services of the firm Gestar which specializes in managing municipal archives.
