Moss Bresnahan, with intern and fellow fan naohiro numata

I’ve said it before—I enjoy public television for its ability to tell a story, and no one tells a story like Ken Burns. For more than 30 years, he has brought history to life with films like Jazz, The War, The National Parks and the most-watched series in PBS history, 1994’s Baseball. As a lifelong baseball fan born within walking distance of Boston’s Fenway Park, I’m especially excited about this month’s premiere of The Tenth Inning on September 28 and 29 at 8:00 p.m. The Tenth Inning picks up where Baseball left off, chronicling the changes, challenges and triumphs of the game since the mid-’90s: the players’ strike, an influx of international players, record-shattering performances clouded by allegations of steroid use, and the first World Series victory for the Boston Red Sox in 86 years. To warm up for The Tenth Inning, we’re welcoming Ken Burns to Seattle for KCTS 9 Night at the Mariners on Friday, September 17. Come see Ken throw out the first pitch, catch a sneak preview of The Tenth Inning, and enjoy a late-summer evening game at Safeco Field. It’s a chance to show your support for public television and meet fellow KCTS 9 members and staff. You can find more information about how to get tickets on the next page—I hope you’ll join us.

important! Thinking of switching service providers? Be sure they carry all three of KCTS 9’s channels. And if they don’t, request that they do!
