VOL 28 ISSUE 2 President’s Message I struggled writing this article. I wasn't sure what kind of message makes much sense in this crazy time. Someone once said when you don't know what to say, stick to gratitude. I am grateful for my parents, who in 1967 moved from the east side to Parma. I am sure they didn't realize at the time what amazing opportunity they were providing for their children. That opportunity came in the form of Parma Senior High. I know I will never forget the teachers and the wonderful experiences at PSH. That is why I wanted to come back and teach there. I can tell you that the teachers, administrators and staff are still the greatest! During this pandemic they are all still going the extra mile to provide for the children in our school. I would like to wish all of you a happy and healthy holiday season . Cont pg 1 Letters to the Editor: - when the two new buildings are finished. Answer to a question from a teacher. In 1993 at Homecoming I remember a women was presented a Homecoming crown she was supposed to get as Homecoming Queen in 1953, but she was stricken with polio. Do you know the full story about her? Yes we wrote a full story about her in the second edition of the Tradition Newsletter in1994. Here name was Carol Kneebush Vaccariello. She was presented her Homecoming Crown at Byer’s Field that night,40 years after she was to receive it. Her good friend Clair Justice Eckles, stood in for her on the field that night. In 1953, a group of close friends went to her hospital bed at City Hospital Polio ward and Crowned her Homecoming Queen of the class of 1954. She never attended a day of her Sr. year at the brand new PSH High, or a game at the brand new Byers Field. Carol went on to graduate from BW and taught Speech therapy there. She married had 1 child and 2 grandchil-dren .

Cont pg1 Editors Desk Get out the last reunion booklet and find a number or email of a classmate you may have talked to at the last reunion. Doctors and phychologists have stated that depression caused by the pandemic can, in part, be directly attributed to a lack of contact with family and friends. Lets make a difference. Make The Call, Text or Email. Cont. pg1 Principal - The twist and turns of this pan-demic keeps everyone on their toes. The ever chang-ing schedules and learning settings are very frustrat-ing. The teachers have poured their hearts and souls into adjusting to entirely new way of teaching. We are putting a strong focus on student mental health and wellness. The isolation of online learning is

a struggle for our students. The Parma Sr High hope Squad acts as student ambassadors to help support moral and mental health. Students still have the opportunity to participate in athletics and extracurricular activities. Our fall athletic season has just come to a close and we are hopping to open our Winter season in the next week or so. We are hoping the pandemic slows, allowing our students to return and be in classrooms once again.
