Intersessioniswhenourschooltakesabreakfromournormalclassestostudynewtopicswewouldliketolearnabout.ThisyeartheseclasseswillbeheldbeforeWinterBreakonThursday,December21st,andFriday,December22nd.Duringthesedayswewilltaketwotothreeclassesweareputintoforafewhourseachday.Thatwaywecanlearnnewthingsthatarefunbeforeourlongbreak.Notsayingotherclassesaren’tfun.

Forthemostpart,classesareheldwithyourgrade.Onlyafewoftheclassesaremixedgrade,justlikeournormalclasses.Therearealsoalotofopportunitiesforvolunteers.Infact,thisisourbiggestopportunityoftheyear!Somakesuretoaskyourparentsiftheywouldliketohelp.

So,I’vebeennoticingthatsomeartists,andgreatonesmightIadd,havenotbeengettingrecognizedforhowgoodtheyare.I’mnotgoingtonameany,forthesakeofprivacy,butIfeellikegoodartistsshouldknowthatotherpeopleenjoywhattheydo.Asanartistmyself,Iknowthatitalwaysfeelsgoodwhenpeoplesaythatitlooksgood.Andwhenpeopledon’tpayanyattentiontomywork,anddismissit,itdefinitelydoesnotfeelgood.Sothat’swhyIwantstudentstotellartteacherstorecognizeartistseveryweekintheformArtistsoftheWeek,orA.O.T.W.,forshort.NoticethatIsaidArtists,plural.Iwantteacherstopickatleastthreestudentswhotheythinkworkwellandaregoodartists.TheneveryFriday,attheendofthehour,theywouldannouncetheartiststhatwon,andmaybeevenputsomeoftheirartonthewallorabulletinboardoutsidetheclassroom.Butit’snotjusttheteachers.It’salsothestudents.Iwantstudentsto,whenevertheyseeadrawingthattheythinktheartistdidgoodon,tellthem.Iknowthattheywouldappreciatethat.Itwouldjusttaketwoseconds,andwhatbetterwaytospendthattwosecondsthanbeingkindtoanotherhumanbeing?

Haveyouevertrieddoingtheschool'sTalentShowbyyourself?Well,whenIwasnineIreallywantedtodotheTalentShow.MyfriendsShirleyandSelenaafterclassaskedmeifIwantedtojointhemintheTalentShow.IwassohappyIscreamed“YES!”

WhenwewenttorecessIsaid“WhatarewegoingtodofortheTalentShow?”Theysaid“Sing.”Isaid“Whatsong?”Theysaid“FlashlightbyJessieJ.”Iwassohappy,likeaponyinarainbow.

WhenIgottomyhouseIwasnonstoppracticingfortheTalentShow.Iwasthinkingthisisgoingtobethebestdayofmylife.Itwasmynewfavoritesong.

ThenextdaySelenaandShirleysaidthatwearegoingtowearwhiteandgold. Wewaitedweeks,andIwasstartingtogetimpatient.Thenthedaycame.Iwasfeelingbutterfliesinmy

stomach.Theteachergaveusaflashlight.Iwassonervous,likeabunnygettingchasedbyakid.Thenitwasourturn.WesangandIwassohappy,likeabirdgettinganewhome.

TeachersBy:OliveStrike Therearelotsofdifferentopinionsonteachers.Somepeopledespisethem,whileothersthinktheworldofthem.Butalotblameteachersfortheplanoftheday.Theyblamethemforwhattheyaresupposedtoteach.Hereisthetruth,TEACHERSCANNOTCHOOSE!!!Ofcourse,theycanchoosewhattypeofteachertheyare,likeascienceteacheroranartteacher,butitallisfocusedonwhattheDistrict[andtheStateofMinnesota]choosesisimportanttoteachforthatgrade.Sodon’tblameteacherswhogivepartoftheirdaytohelpYOU!

WhenIgotmynewdogweneededtotalktomydadaboutitbecauseourolddogranaway,andwecouldnotfindhim,sowereallygothurtbythat,andmydaddidnotwantanotherdogbecausehedidnotwanttogethurtagain.Soblablablawetalkedwithourdadforacoupleofmonthstillhefinallysaidyes.Wewentfullonbeastmodetofindournewdoganditsnameandgender.Acoupleofweekslaterwefoundit.Itwasgoingtobeaboy,andhisnamewasLevi,andhewasachihuahuamixedwithwienerdog.Hispicturesweresocute.Ourdadgaveusthemoney,andoffwewent.Ithinkthatiswhatmydadneededtobehappyagain.

Icamehomewithexcitingnewsandpersonstandingbymymomanddad:myniece.Myniecehasbrowncurlyhair,andshelookslikemydad.IhadnotseenmyniecesinceherlastbirthdayandwhenmymomanddadtoldmeIwasgoingtoDisneylandwithher.Iwasreallyexcited.ThenIfoundoutthatmyniecewasgoingtostaywithmethewholetime,withmeandmysisters.

Thenextmorningwegotupatalmostfiveinthemorning,andIdidnotwanttogetup.Whenwegottotheairportweweresoexcited,butittookliketwodaystogettoDisneyland.Thenwewerethere.Thelandoffun.Wesaweverybodyontherides.WesawDisneycharacters,andwesawabunchofstoresandrestaurants.IwantedmyniecetohavefunbecauseIdidnotseeherinalongwhile,andshewasoneyearyoungerthanme,soIdidnotwanthertobebored.Ifeltreallynervous,butwhenweplayedalldayIgotoverit.Whenwewenttoourroomatnightwewereknockedout.

Iwasjustsittingatlunchmindingmyownbusinesswhenilookacrossthetable.Mytablemate,Zara,wasjusteatingaclementine.Therewasalittlebrownspotonthefruitbuteveryonejustfiguredthatitwasbruised.WekeptontalkingasZaraatetheclementine.Then,outoftheblue,Zarapeeledbackoneofthewedgesandthere,nestledbetweenthem,wasabigjuicyfly!WeallscreamedinterrorasZaradroppedtheclementineonthetable.Wethensattherestaringatthebeast.Zarabuiltupthecouragetopickupthecontaminatedobjectandtossitinthetrash.Somedriftersstoppedbytoseewhatallthecommotionwas,andtheyweresurprisedtoknowwhathappened.Zarawasshakenup,andweallrealizedthatshealreadyatehalfoftheclementine,andtherecouldbebabyflymaggotswaitingtoburstoutofZara’sstomach!Thiswashorriblenews.Ididn’twanttosearchupapictureofaflyinaclementine,soI’lldrawone.
