Gorutha can now provide educational scholarships for deserving farm workers’ children to attend private school in Hoedspruit. The funding from SA Lotto will also cover three recreational outings for the children this year. As the first of these three recreational outings, 72 children from the greater Hoedspruit community are attending a three day/two night outing at the Blyde Adventure Camp. After stowing away their gear in the dorms; the group divided for soccer and volleyball. This relieved some of the initial anxiety and they started to enjoy themselves. HOESPRUIT – On December 2 last year, the DA Hoedspruit cleaned and removed 40 bags of rubbish from the picnic rest stop on the way to the reptile park from Hoedspruit. The refuse removal at and maintenance of this rest stop is apparently not the responsibility of Maruleng Municipality. Little or no maintenance has been done for the past several years, making the above clean- up session something of an occasion. According to Christine du Preez of the DA Hoedspruit, the site was clean right up until after Christmas day. From Christmas present wrappings found amongst the rubbish, it seems that someone just drove up to the rest stop (not a dump site) and disposed of the leftovers of their Christmas festivities. As seen here, there were quite a few names in the heap. Do you know any of these people? Let K2C know at [email protected].
