Vocational Education and Training (VET) is a catch word now. All Ministries

are projecting their future need of skilled manpower. National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) is promoting all to achieve the goals set by Government - 500 million trained youth by 2020.

For the world’s demand of skilled youth, surely, India is a resource centre. The technological developments already in practice globally are not reflected in the academic curriculum of our vocational training institutions. The opportunity for the educators and planners to witness, feel & know what is the latest in skill training is highly remote. WorldSkills International hold international competition in more than 50 skills. Over its 60 year history, WorldSkills International (formerly known as the “Skill Olympics”) has come to

symbolise the pinnacle of excellence in vocational training. Every two years hundreds of young skilled people, accompanied by their teachers and trainers, gather together from around the world to compete before the public in the skills of their various trades and test themselves against demanding international standards. They represent the best of their peers drawn from regional and national skill competitions held currently in 66 countries/regions.

NTTF can sponsor candidates in the following skills:

•CNC Turning & Milling, Electronics,Mechanical CAD, Mobile Robotics, Mould Tech, Welding, Poly Mechanics & Automation and Mechatronics

•GraphicsDesigns

•ITsoftwareapplication&WebDesign

This year, the global talent search and recognition in 46 skills covering all the avenues listed above can be witnessed at WSI competitions 2013, to be held in Leipzig - Germany during 2-7, July’13. Industry & institutional representatives and bureaucrats need to

Opportunity to participate in Worldskills International (WSI) Competition - Brazil 2015

witness the same and gain knowledge for the futuristic growth of our nation.

Next WorldSkills International competitions will be at Brazil during August 2015 and national selection for the same will be by August 2014. NTTF is ready to sponsor and extend all support to our bright & skilled trainees. It is a great chance for our trainees to prepare and compete at National level tests in any of skills listed above. As a strategy, 1st year rank holders can be earmarked, prompted and trained to take up tests during their 2nd year of training. Grab this opportunity and demonstrate your hidden skills to the world!

WSI competitions, a pinnacle of skill excellence can support to raise the image of Technical Education. The global bench marking of skill standards, if witnessed can bring in life changing effects for the country as well as the individuals.

Today’s employees are expected to assume greater responsibility for developing their

own careers. This includes ensuring that the goal of career development transcends job acquisition and more broadly focuses on attaining the knowledge, skills and experience required to be a relevant 21st century employee. It also assumes that valued employees have a firm understanding of organizational needs and that maintaining relevant skills requires continuous learning and skills improvement. Realizing ones’ career dreams requires one to follow a five step process.

Step 1: Aspirations

To carve out a career path, an individual needs to begin with understanding what really are his interests, skills and qualifications.

Step 2: Suitability

Once the aspirations have been recognized, the next step is to understand what job suits the individual’s personality. Preparation for the right job has to be done with the right set of expectations to ensure maximum job satisfaction and productivity.

Step 3: Capability

Preparing for the dream job also means knowing more about it, its domain, its demands, and its deliverables. There is a need to benchmark functional skills required for the job, compare it with one’s skills and take relevant certifications as required.

Step 4: Employability

In a competitive scenario, success depends upon how well prepared one is as compared to others. Job readiness is a function of an excellent resume coupled with attitude and adequate preparation for the interview.

Step 5: Employment

Finding the right job which is perfectly matched to skills, qualifications and experience is a resultant of all of the above.

Aspirations - Dare to dream

Suitability - Matching yourself to the job that fits you

Capability - Preparing for your dream

Employability - Preparing and equipping for selection

Employment - Get the right job

Recognizing the ground realities, NTTF has been involved in supporting every single student associated with them to nurture their personalities and help them climb the ladder of success. Here is how. The fundamental building blocks of career development “Knowledge-Skills-Attitude” are imbibed into the curriculum in all trades to make the student a good citizen. Students develop their personalities and are encouraged to develop a sense of social responsibility through participation in blood donation camps, village camps and rural outreach programs. Today, execution of skills on the job carries more weightage than just attaining knowledge and thus NTTF develops the hands-on skills of their students throughout the course with 65% practical training and 35% theory sessions. Students are provided multiple opportunities to demonstrate their linguistic skills through participation in national and international level competitions like the WorldSkills Competition, the All India Skills Test etc. Cultural and sports meets organized by NTTF annually enable students to demonstrate their kinesthetic skills. The students are also encouraged to take up challenging project

work during in-plant training at the industries. Students who aspire to pursue further studies can opt for lateral entries to certain universities based on successful completion of the NTTF Diploma course. They also have the provision to join Post Diploma programs conducted by NTTF.

NTTF’s incubation & entrepreneur cell at Electronic City campus, Bangalore also prepares interested students for entrepreneurship by honing specific skills which prepare them for the challenges of setting up their own venture. The holistic approach of training being practiced in NTTF over the past five decades has significantly benefited the students in career development. The diversity of the program and the rigour of the training process have enabled many students to further their career aspirations with reputed organizations, both in India and abroad. Some students have also chosen to further their career in the education sector by accepting faculty level positions with NTTF, thereby contributing directly to the nation building process through skill development.

“We secure your future. With your own hands.” is truly the mantra at NTTF!

The principle of this process is that nitrogen gas is injected, during the moulding cycle, either

through the sprue or directly into the mould tool. At a controlled high pressure this has the benefit of overcoming sink marks or introducing a cavity without the requirement of a core.

Benefits of Gas Assisted Injection Moulding•Reducedmaterialrequirements•Reducedcycletimes•Reducedwearonmoulds•Improvedcomponentquality

In the gas assist molding process, the plastic material is melted and injected into the mold cavities via the conventional plastic injection molding process. Plastic material in contact with the mold walls begins to solidify first. As this happens, nitrogen gas is injected into the mold through strategically designed and placed gas channels, providing pressure that pushes the plastic material into the mold extremities.

Stages in Gas Injection Moulding

Stage 1 : Injection of the melt

Stage 2 : Gas Injection & subsequent Follow-up Pressure

Stage 3 : Venting and part release

Applications for Gas Assist Injection Molded Plastics

Some applications benefiting from gas assist plastic injection molding include:•Appliancehandles•Medicalequipmenthousings•Interiorandexteriorautomotivehandles•Largecoversandpanelsforofficeequipment•Lawnmowerhandles

Think of a thick plastic component with surprisingly lighter weight as compared to its volume and the size, you will be amazed to make out that how it is such a light weighing component? Thanks to the technology; it happens from an interesting process called Gas assisted Injection moulding! Normally, the injection moulding of thick sections are difficult due to visible shrinkage marks. Also cost of thick section parts will be very high. The solution to this is the gas-assisted injection moulded parts.

Those we love don’t go away. They walk beside us every day.

NTTF staff condoles the sudden demise of Mr. K Varaprasad Rao, Principal of Gannavaram Centre.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.
