THEORY

• In this circuit, for finding the voltage across resistors R1 and R2, we can use the expression:

• For V1, V1=VR1/(R1 +R2)• And for V2, V2=VR2/(R1 +R2)

• In this circuit, for finding the current across resistors R1 and R2, we can use the expression:

• For I1, I1=IR2/(R1+R2)• And for I2, I2=IR2/(R1+R2)

COMPONENTS USED

• Resistors• Voltmeter• Ammeter

Resistors

• Resistors are used to reduce the voltage.• If they are used in series they cause voltage division• And if they are used in parallel they cause current division

Voltmeter

• Voltmeter is used to measure the voltage across two terminals• It is always connected in parallel because it contains resistance which can

reduce the voltage

AMMETER

• Ammeter is used in measuring the current across the circuit• It is connected in series because it does not contain its own resistance

How circuit works• When the switch is on, the voltage starts flowing through the circuit• mA measures its current, then voltage goes through the resistor R1• And the divided voltage can be seen in the voltmeter• The same is applied on R2• After that the mA measures the current again so that we can measure the

current division through the mA on each wire.• Then current flows across the two more resistors which are connected in

parallel. In this ways we can calculated the divided current.• If R2 is greater, then I1 will be greater, and when R1 is greater, then I2 will

be greater.
