Social Committee Helps Make Paloma Lake A Great Place to Live! The Paloma Lake Social Committee is a group of volunteers that

love their neighborhood! Their goal is to help neighbors get to know one another, and to make Paloma Lake THE place to live. The Social Committee works with the HOA and Lifestyle Director to plan and implement both large and small events for the residents of Paloma Lake. Large events in the past have included movie nights, Easter egg hunts, cook offs and holiday parties. Smaller, more focused activities include book club, game nights, ladies’ nights and poker nights. And, suggestions are always welcome!

If you are interested in volunteering alongside your neighbors and helping with any of these events, or in joining the committee, please contact the Social Committee at [email protected] or the Paloma Lake Lifestyle Director at [email protected].

Does your preschooler like music? Does he or she like to wiggle? Try Kinderdance®!

Kinderdance® is the original worldwide dance, motor development, gymnastics, and fitness program that includes academic readiness skills specifically designed for children ages 2 to 12. The instructors place special emphasis on building self-confidence and self-esteem in all of their young students.

Newly offered at the Paloma Lake amenity center in November, Kinderdance classes have been offered on Monday afternoons for 3- to 5-year-olds. Kindertots, for 2-year-olds, is offered just before the Kinderdance class.

PALOMA LAKE

Last month, we announced the creation of a community group for empty nesters, retirees, and 50+ers, and are pleased to let you know the new group has chosen a name - 2nd Act. The group is now more than 50 members strong, and continues to grow.

Four special interest groups are already active. The Dining Out Group had a fun evening out at Gino's Italian Restaurant early November, and will get together again in January. The Quilting/Sewing Group meets weekly and is currently working on holiday table runners. The Bridge Group also meets weekly. Because several group members were interested in playing Bridge, but didn’t know how to play the game, the group’s leader is now holding Bridge Lessons. The Wine/Beer Group enjoyed a wine-tasting mid-November.

Upcoming Opportunities to Participate in 2nd Act:December 4, 11 and Jan 8, 22 – Coffee Hour at

the Magellan Way amenity center from 9-10am. Visit with neighbors and sign up for interest groups.

December 8 - Holiday party at the Magellan Way amenity center from 6-8pm. Bring an appetizer or dessert to share and your own beverages. Decaf coffee will be provided. This will be an opportunity to visit with neighbors, make new friends and kick off the holiday season!

January 11 – 2nd Act quarterly meeting at 6:30pm at the Magellan Way amenity center. This will be an opportunity to learn about all of our activities, contribute your ideas, and join interest groups.

January 20 – 2nd Act Dining Out at 6:30pm. The location is yet to be determined.

For more information, or to join one of the interest groups, please contact Rene Denham at 512-551-8026 or Sandy Holland at [email protected].

Twinkle Toes Infant Playgroup is now meeting bi-monthly at the Saint Federico Way Amenity Center.

The new playgroup is for children ages 0 to 2. The playgroup met on several Tuesday mornings in November, will break for December, and will begin meeting again in January after the busy holidays.

The organizer of the group, Josslyn Robertson said, "Sometimes as a stay-at-home parent or caregiver, you can feel isolated from other adults and look for ways to get out of the house that are beneficial for you and your child. This playgroup will hopefully give parents and babies a chance to socialize in a low stress, happy environment."

All parents/caregivers and babies are welcome. Feel free to bring a few toys or snacks. A large area rug is provided for the children to play on but bringing an extra blanket for smaller infants to play on is suggested.

If you have any questions regarding the group, please feel free to contact Josslyn Robertson at [email protected].
