MENDELEY FOR NOOBS

Mendeley for Noobs is a course
organized by CGS and GSA for all newly
registered postgraduate students. The
course was a one day course which
started at 8.30 am and ended at 4.00pm.
The course was held at Bilik Lestari 2,
Perpustakaan Tunku Tun Aminah, UTHM
at 29th November 2017. The course main
objective was to help students to learn
and apply mendeley within their paper
and thesis writing. Mendeley was a
referencing tools which help simplify and
organize the writing flow of the students.
The course also consist of basic
introduction in making thesis and
publication template. Overall, the course
was a success with the students manage
to benefit significantly.
GSA ANNUAL GRAND
MEETING (AGM) 2017

GSA’s AGM 2017 was held on the 27th
November 2017 at Lestari 2,
Perpustakaan Tunku Tun Aminah. This
event was attended by more than 100
postgraduates student to select new
committees for the GSA’s new term
2017/2018. After fair voting was done,
Anbia Adam was selected as the
President, Faheem as the Vice President,
Rabiatul Adawiyah as the Secretary and
Anis Ayuni as the Treasury. A numbers of
students was also pick as Head and
Bureau and “Rakan Biro “. The future was
believed to e bright will all this great
members.

NO OF PARTICIPANT: ± 100 peoples
Be Cara Johor (BCJ) is a corporate
social responsibility (CSR) program jointly
organized by Graduate Students’
Association (GSA) with Institut Integriti
Kepimpinan dan Latihan Semangat Dato’
Onn (IKLAS) and Johor Inspire
Organization (JIO). This program was
held in rural area, targeting the youths in
the village to take part in community
program. The aim of this program was to
engage with village folks, especially the
youths and inspire them to get involve in
healthy activities. In the evening, the
organizers and the participants had a fun
time playing traditional games including
tug of war. The program resumed at night
with a forum. In the forum, the youths
were inspired by success stories of
village youths who were invited as the
panel. This program allows GSA to
engage with the community and spread
positive vibes to the youngsters.

PARTICIPANTS: 20 people
Program Pimpinan Siswazah (PPS) is
an annual team building event held by
Graduate Students’ Association (GSA)
aiming to create and strengthen the bond
between newly recruited GSA committee
members.
This program consisted of six
modules which are Ice Breaking,
Riadah Challenge, Night Walk, Neuro
Language Programming, I Love GSA,
and Boss vs Leader. PPS managed to
break the barrier between the new
members as they were required to
work in a group in solving each tasks.
This program also enhances the soft
skills of the participants including
communication, critical thinking and
problem solving, leadership, teamwork,
and entrepreneurship. The closing
ceremony was attended by the dean
and deputy dean of CGS which truly
boost the spirit of the participants to
give their best in manoeuvring GSA
activities this year.

REFLECTION: In conjunction with the
new postgraduate students registration
held Centre for Graduate Studies (CGS)
UTHM, Graduate Students’ Association
(GSA) also took part to help smoothen
the process. In this session, GSA helped
to distribute the registration kit to the
new students and assist them in all way
possible. GSA representative also gave
a brief presentation about GSA during
the briefing session held in the evening.

GSA ROAD TOUR

GSA road tour was held at all faculties
within UTHM. The road tour aims to gain
new GSA members and exposed them to
upcoming GSA activities. The road tour
main focus was to build up interpersonal
skills within committee and train them to
interact with lecturers, staffs, and students
(undergraduate and postgraduate). The
road tour consist of two main session,
which the first session was to walk around
UTHM and pass flyers containing
information on GSA while the second
session involve giving a brief presentation
on GSA for all new students. The road
tour was held for 3 days in the following
order (1) FKAAS; (2) FKEE; (3) FSKTM;
(4) FAST; (5) FTK; (6) FKMP; (7) FPTV
and (8) FPTP. The program was a
success with great increment (>20%) in
followers for GSA@UTHM Facebook
group. The program also manages to
improve GSA member interpersonal skills
and spreading positive vibes to all UTHM
members.
