As the end of Term 3 approaches I would like to thank Mrs Ange-la Buxton for all her work as the Acting Principal of our school since the beginning of 2015. We appreciate her care of our school and for helping us to maintain our high reputation. We wish her all the best in her future career in education. At the be-ginning of Term 4 we will welcome back Mr Rob McCartney who is returning to his Principal role. Rob has enjoyed his work with the Hawthorn Football Club and is bringing back many new ide-as. He is looking forward to catching up with the Guthrie Street PS community. End of Term 3 I would like to remind parents that Term 3 finishes this Friday, September 16. On this day children will be dismissed at 2.15pm. To coincide with the early finish buses will run one hour earlier than normal. School resumes on Monday, October 3. VSSS (Victorian State Schools Spectacular) Well done to our students who performed in the Victorian State Schools Spectacular on the weekend. Parent Requests for 2017 Student Placements – final call As has been mentioned in past newsletters, early next term we will start the process of planning for the 2017 school year. Part of this complex process includes the placement of current students into classes for 2017. When placing students into new classes, parents may have academic, social and/or emotional information regarding their child they would like us to consider. I ask that these requests are made either in writing or in person to Maureen Munro or myself. In fairness to all we do not accept requests for a specific teacher; however, we make every attempt to accommodate requests based on academic, social and emo-tional needs. These requests need to be shared with us by the end of the first week of next term. Comedy Night – Friday 21st October The Comedy Night is fast approaching – 3rd Friday of Term 4. To avoid missing what promises to be a wonderful social event and ‘Cool the Stadium’ fundraiser, I encourage groups to organ-ise their tables over the holidays and purchase their tickets early in Term 4! Terrific Kids is a student recognition program that promotes character development, self-esteem, and perseverance. Stu-dents work with their classroom teacher and establish goals to improve behaviour, peer relationships, attendance, or school-work. Students then work toward achieving the goal during a specific time period. The teachers and principal determine the best schedule for recognition. Some schools recognize Terrific Kids during each grading period; others recognize students more often.
Prep Annie Birchall Abhenoor Dhaliwal Year 1 Charli Martin Tylan Hunt
Year 2 Sabiha Jafari Ashton Mellington
Year 3 Maya Byrne Callum Willing
Year 4 Reyhaneh Hosseini Jack Jamieson
Years 5/6 Olive McKenzie Ryley Marshall
At the end of the designated time period all students who achieved their goals are recognized as Terrific Kids. Recognition includes presentation of certificate and a giveaway. Shepparton Kiwanis help support the Terrific Kids pro-gram at our school. The Terrific Kids program provides teachers with a tool to reward students for special achievements that may otherwise go unnoticed. TERRIFIC is an acronym meaning: Thoughtful Enthusiastic Respectful Responsible Inclu-sive Friendly Inquisitive Capable
