The NFEC strategically organises an array of events and activities to reach out to various target groups to promote fire and civil emergency preparedness. These include seminars and workshops for industrial and commercial enterprises, interactive and educational performances for schools and fire safety and emergency preparedness events for grassroots bodies. Various fund raising projects were therefore executed each year to support these activities.
One of the key vehicles of NFEC in raising funds is the annual NFEC Charity Golf Tournament. Apart from raising funds, the event also serves to further expand the NFEC family and garner support from corporate partners who are keen in spreading fire safety and civil emergency preparedness messages.
This year, the event was held at Laguna National Golf and Country Club on 27 September 2011. Guest-of-Honour, Mr Masagos Zulkifli, Minister of State for Home Affairs and Foreign Affairs flagged off the game at 1.30pm and it continued till 6.30pm. A total of 128 golfers participated in the event.
On the same day, a dinner cum prize-giving ceremony was also held and the top 20 golfers and 6 winners for the novelty games (Nearest-to-Pin and Nearest-to-Line) received the prizes from Minister Masagos. A total of 45 lucky draw prizes were also given out. The day-long exciting NFEC Golf Charity Tournament came to a close at 9pm.
Thanks to sponsors who donated generously in support of NFEC, over $80, 000 was successfully raised from the event.

Fire Safety Tips for the Festive Season
Never leave cooking unattended. Turn off the gas supply and cooking appliances whenever they are not in use.
After parties or gatherings, check for smouldering cigarette butts around and under the sofa, chair cushions and carpets.
Ensure that all unwanted furniture and items which are combustible in nature, are discarded properly. Contact your local Town Councils or Management Office if you require assistance in the disposal of unwanted bulky items
Use decorative lighting fixtures which carry the SAFETY Mark.
Keep matches, lighters and candles out of children’s reach.
Children playing with sparklers must be supervised by parents/adults. Sparklers should be kept in a closed box and away from flames.
Escape passageways should be free of obstruction and fire exit doors should be kept unlocked for use during emergencies.
If you are in any public premises, ensure that you look out for the nearest exit door or staircase, in the event that you need to evacuate during an emergency.
Members of public who notice fire hazards, may report them to SCDF at 1800-280 0000
