at Batu Pahat

Orphanage House

PARTICIPANTS: ± 60 people

REFLECTION:

The program is continuous from

previous program which is Charity

Sale for Orphanage. The money

collected from the charity sale of

clothes was donated to the Batu

Pahat Orphane House. This

corporate social responsibility

(CSR) program held to show our

concern and extended our

relationship among the society. The

residents in the orphanage also

received “Duit Raya” during this

visit. GSA members get in touch

and share their experiences with

them. Some of the kids willing to

share their experience and

happiness.

In conjunction with the new

postgraduate students registration

held Centre for Graduate Studies

(CGS) UTHM, Graduate Students’

Association (GSA) also took part to

help smoothen the process. In this

session, GSA helped to distribute the

registration kit to the new students

and assist them in all way possible.

GSA representative also gave a brief

presentation about GSA during the

briefing session held in the evening..

UTHM organized "writing workshop for

social science postgraduate students"

on 18/9/2018 (Tuesday), at Bilik Lestari

2, Tunku Tun Aminah Library, UTHM.

Speaker: Prof. Dr. Maizam Bt. Alias gave

a very fruitful talk at that workshop. I

hope this workshop will help to improve

your academic writing skills towards

producing a good manuscript.

Speaker: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zawati gave a

very fruitful talk at that workshop. I

believe that all participants got a lot of

knowledge through this workshop which

may be beneficial for future research

and in thesis/publication writing.

REFLECTION: This talk was presented by

Prof. Dr. Abu Khari bin A’ain, the director

of Institute for Integrated Engineering

(I2E), UTHM. The main objective of this

talk was to guide new postgraduate

students on choosing the right research

topic for their study. The speaker also

inspire the students on reflecting to their

true intention in pursuing postgraduate

study. Besides that, the speaker

encourages the students to choose

research topic that will not only define

their future, but lso help to solve the needs

in the industries. Participating students are

thrilled to have collaboration with the

industry when the speaker suggests for

postgraduate industrial attachment. This

will help the students to get a better input

for their study, use the available facilities

in the industry, and also enhance their job

opportunity after graduating.

This talk was presented by Dr. Faridah Bt Abu Bakar, the coordinator of

postgraduate students, Faculty of Applied Sciences, UTHM. The main objective of

this talk was to guide new postgraduate students on building a healthy, positive

relationship with their supervisor. This is important as a good term between the

student and supervisor helps to smoothen the postgraduate journey of the student.

The speaker highlights the difference between supervisor and academic advisor

and suggests that in postgraduate study, it should be called a research advisor as

the research belongs to the students and therefore the students should have a clear

planning on their research. The speaker also guides the students on the dos and

don’ts of being a good student under the supervision of a research advisor. This talk

is hoped to inspire the students to build a good relationship with their research

advisor and motivate them to give their best in their postgraduate journey.

Semangat Dato' Onn – IKLAS. The

session involved talk and sharing on

knowledge mainly on the current issues

related to the youth. The session was

full of information while visions for

“YOUTH POWER” was presented by YB

Syed Saddiq. The session was joined by

GSA members and undergraduate

member from different faculty. The 3

hours townhall session was filled with

talks, forums, and disposition of question

from the participants.

A talk by Prof. Ts. Dr. Ruzairi bin Abdul Rahim focused on the supervisors and

their postgraduate student. The talk main objective is to expose both the upervisor

and the student to a great working environment. The talk was on the idea of three

main stages which include the foundation, momentum and final stages. The

stages consist of many elements in which each elements is essential in making

sure a development of a great research team.

The forum was organized by Faculty of

Engineering Technology(FTK) UTHM

and also the hardship of becoming

on the postgraduate opportunity includes
