“Meeting God Early in the Morning” by Pastor Roseanne Oliver

When we receive devastating news, we wish we could change what we have heard, but we can’t. Our minds fight to accept what we know is true, but our emotions hold us back. All that is within us cries out for hope and understanding. We search for an answer to the question that con-sumes our minds; “Will everything Be alright?”

When we face overwhelming situations, the one thing that brings assurance and hope is the fact that God is in control. No matter what we experience or feel, we can know that God loves us and is working to bring out good of every heartache, difficulty or disappointment.

This one fact has encouraged and strengthened countless hearts. No matter where we turn in the Bible, we will never find a moment when God is out of control or out of touch with his creation. Remember God’s power and love are always available to us. Trust God for He is indeed our very present help (Psalm 46:1).

An Old Farmers Prayer

A pastor asked an older farmer, decked out in bib overalls, to say grace for the morning breakfast. "Lord, I hate buttermilk", the farmer began. The visiting pastor opened one eye to glance at the farmer and wonder where this was going.

The farmer loudly proclaimed, "Lord, I hate lard." Now the pastor was growing concerned.

Without missing a beat, the farmer continued, "And Lord, you know I don't much care for raw white flour". The pastor once again opened an eye to glance around the room and saw that he wasn't the only one to feel uncomfortable.

Then the farmer added, "But Lord, when you mix them all together and bake them, I do love warm fresh biscuits. So Lord, when things come up that we don't like, when life gets hard, when we don't understand what you're saying to us, help us to just relax and wait until you are done mixing. It will probably be even better than biscuits. Amen."

Within that prayer there is great wisdom for all when it comes to complicated situations like we are experiencing in the world today.

Stay strong, my friends, because our LORD is mixing several things that we don't really care for, but something even better is going to come when HE is done with it. AMEN!

BE SURE YOU HAVE GODS' HAND ON YOUR STEERING WHEEL OF LIFE, BECAUSE LIVING

RIGHT IS HARD

Thank You

We received this Thank You note for the recent

Erie Gives 2020

Thank you for those who donated to Trinity United Methodist Church through Erie Gives 2020. We had many generous people who gave to Trinity. This will help our mission to continue here at Trinity and in our community.

CROP Walk

CROP Hunger Walks are community-based walk events held in cities and towns across the United States raising funds to support the global mission of Church World Service, a faith-based organization transforming communities around the globe through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement and disaster. Twenty five percent of the funds raised are returned to the host community to support local hunger fighting efforts.

CROP is an international effort to alleviate hunger. Over the past 40 years, over $2 million has been raised for hunger relief in Erie County and is distributed to local relief agencies and food pantries.

Given the uncertainty in our community regarding COVID-19 and the abundance of caution, the 45th Erie County CROP Hunger Walk has been significantly modified. The safety of our walkers and our community, while at the same time trying to address the increase in hungry people, was foremost in mind as we planned. While we may be apart physically, together we can still work to stop hunger.

The walk is still promoted for September 27th. It is not meant to be limited to that specific day; instead it can take place anytime in September that best fits the schedule of our group.

To register or for more information, please visit their website at www.crophungerwalk.org/eriepa/

Pledge forms are also available in the church office. Together, we can help end hunger in our community and around the world.

You can support the CROP Walk

on Sunday, September 27th.

Samaritan's Purse Operation

Christmas Child

Samaritan's Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Samaritan's Purse also organizes Operation Christmas Child which is a mission outreach that sends shoeboxes filled with gifts to children in other countries. Every shoebox gift is an excellent resource for evangelism and discipleship which leads to the multiplication of new believers and churches around the world.

You can support Samaritan’s Purse Operation

Christmas Child on Sunday, October 25th.
