Timelines COFFEY COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY & MUSEUM Chili Feed, last Saturday in January 2010 This year’s Ham and Bean Feed has been changed to the Chili Feed. The museum will be serving chili, cornbread, hot dogs, chips, and cobbler from 11:00 am– 2:00 pm. The museum will sell any remaining food or cobbler after 2:00 pm. So come in out of the cold and warm up to a nice bowl of chili! We encourage members to bring family and friends with you. We hope to see you there! The museum also has made a “wish list” that is located on page 11 for items that we need to make this event possible. We will not be asking for people to make pies this year. All food is going to be prepared by the museum staff. Items on the list is what is needed to make and prepare the food. All donations will be greatly appreciated. Website: www.coffeycountymuseum.org Phone: 620-364-2653 Toll Free: 888-877-2653 Fax: 620-364-8933 Email: [email protected] It is that time of year again when schools are booking tours. The staff loves having young inquiring minds to teach about our artifacts we have on display. Recently, a group of Westphalia kindergarteners and first graders came in for a tour. The group also included some parents and teachers. They spent their time touring the museum and doing activities. Our staff really enjoyed the kids and their interesting stories and questions about the artifacts. To end their time at the museum, the children made teepees and headbands. It was a great time shared by all. The museum offers many activities to choose from for school students during their time at the museum. This list includes apple peeling, candle dipping, butter churning, silhouettes, paper teepees, Indian headbands, paper quilts, yarn dolls, and basket weaving. Renew Your Membership!

Once again it is that time of the year to renew your membership to the Coffey County Historical Society. Did you know that your Membership dues are used to send these quarterly newsletters as well as other updates? Membership dues are put in the Endowment Fund to help support the museum and its projects. Your $5 per year/per person is very much needed and put to good use. This past year we offered the Cowgirl Exhibit that expanded over four months, offered the Ham and Bean Feed as well as many other activities. With all of the budget cuts around the state, your membership dollars are becoming more and more important to us every year! We can’t do this without you! So as you are making you membership payments for this year, please send us a donation. Your membership dues and donations are greatly appreciated!
