dB measurement is its’ log-linear scale. While it is useful to represent very large differences in a more user-friendly scale, it also compresses the scale. Sound is defined as any pressure variation that be be heard by the human ear. Threshold of Hearing is defined as 0 dB; the threshold for pain is around 130 dB — both readily understood, notes the guide.
However, as the power of difference between the two levels is 1013:1 or “ten million million to one,” expressing it in terms becomes challenging. The guide sets sounder output levels in context with everyday examples. Single string production packers set on electric line or hydraulicallyAs a modification of ASI-X Packer, VSI-X single string double-
grip production packer can be set on electric line or hydrauli-cally.
An on-off tool stinger with wireline plug installed can be at-tached to the top of this packer, which can then be lubricated in the hole and set under pressure. Once set, casing pressure can be bled off and the tubing with an on-off tool overshot can be run and latched onto the packer. The wireline plug can then be removed.
VSI-X converts to a mechanically set ASI-X by removing the shear screws and installing drag blocks. The packer sets and re-leases with quarter right-hand rotation. It can be left in tension, compression, or neutral.
