The challenge The logistics of transporting ex-pensive fine art, including art by

Pablo Picasso, from USA to the University of Tasmania was the challenge International Cargo Solutions (ICS) Melbourne recently

undertook. The solution The prec ious cargo was

airfreighted to Melbourne’s Tulla-marine Airport after considered freight planning and management.

ICS then performed customs clearance and arranged quarantine inspection where borers were found in some of the timber frames!

A FINE ART SUCCESS STORY

In order to broad-

en its range of services and to increase its opera-tional efficiency,

ACS (Associated Container Services) an entity of Velogic Ltd. has acquired MTL (Mechanical Transport Ltd) in May 2013. Velogic saw this acquisition as a way to penetrate new markets not yet explored, such as the transportation of heavy goods and transportation service to the Sugar Industry (transport of sugar canes and charcoal). Therefore, this is a new challenge for the internal strategy of Ve-logic. Today Velogic holds: Lorries – 55, Fork-lifts – 11, Trailers -64, Side lifters -14.

MAURITIUS VELOGIC LTD.

THE ACQUISITION OF MTL BY VELOGIC LTD.

The results The expertise of the team at ICS Melbourne shone through as they worked closely with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries & Forestry (DAFF) to treat the effected paintings by less convention-al methods such as Ethylene Oxide and Gamma Radiation to mini-

mise the risk of damage to the delicate pieces. Following the successful treatment of the art, ICS arranged a 20’

seafreight delivery to the very grateful University of Tasmania.

QUARANTINE MATTERS! Australia has strict quarantine controls backed up by strong pen-alties for breaking the law. To help minimise the risk to Australia's unique environment, please

do not hesitate to contact International Cargo Solutions for pro-fessional advice from qualified accredited quarantine personnel.

AUSTRALIA INTERNATIONAL CARGO EXPRESS

OUR TARA IN BRISBANE RUN FOR A GOOD CAUSE!

Peter and Hazel Timmermann, founder of International Cargo Ex-press and Ronald and Diane Spahr meeting John Howard , Austral-

ia's longest serving Prime Minister. We had a chance to say thank you for the great number of years of good and honourable gov-ernment. It Is only in Australia you get so close to the leaders of your country. A great privilege and a great place to live.

The first relay lap, a lap of honour, was taken by cancer survivors and carers. All participants joined in on the next lap, and for eight-een hours overnight, relay teams marched on, passing the team

baton - be this in the shape of a maraca, a glowing skull, a rolling pin, or something stranger - between their members in a continuous effort echoing the very first relay. The origin of the Relay For Life lies in the United States of America

where, in 1985, Dr Grody Klatt ran and walked around an oval for 24 hours straight to raise money for his local cancer charity, and to raise awareness of cancer in the community. Today, Relay For Life events are held in 20 countries worldwide. Whilst the occasion was marked by a solemn reminder of continued suffering and loss, themes of hope, remembrance and maintaining

the will fight back lay at the centre of the relay. Entertainment and activities throughout the night kept the walker’s spirits high. The Relay's Got Talent show inspired a number locals to perform vari-ous live stage acts, although perhaps Relay's Got Enthusiasm would

have been a more accurate title for the show. The Miss Relay pageant gave the gentlemen of the area a chance to strut their stuff in the prettiest dresses they could be bullied into. A number of raffles, competitions, and a community breakfast for

the tired and aching trekkers after having walked through the night to watch the sun rise the next day brought a sense of fun and to-getherness to the event. Wynnum will be holding another Relay For Life again next year. This first relay was considered a great success, however, it is hoped that this year's event will be eclipsed by the eager participation and support of the community in future events. Cancer is such a prevalent disease, with an appalling mortality rate. Every little donation given helps organisations such as the Cancer Council Queensland on the path to finding a cure. Next time

an event like this is held near you, like Tara, step in - you will be contributing to a fantastic cause, and helping to spread hope to those greatly in need of it.

A hush fell over the crowd as heads

bowed in a minute's silence. The darkness was illuminated by a sea of candles lit in

tribute to those souls who had been lost, and as a beacon of

hope to those struggling on in the fight against cancer. Survivors,

carers, family and friends of those affected, and members of the community stood together on the evening of Saturday October 12 on the grassed oval of the Wynnum Vikings AFL Club in a ceremony of remembrance and hope. These were the participants

of the first Wynnum Relay For Life. It is hard to find a single person who has not been affected by some form of this terrible disease - everyone knows someone who

has suffered or is still suffering from it. 12.7 million new cancer cases were diagnosed worldwide in 2008; 7.6 million people lost their lives in the battle against cancer in the same year.* The Cancer Council Queensland, organisers of the Wynnum relay, are

a non-government organisation that hold fundraisers such as this one to help finance their vital services. These include medical re-search directed at ultimately finding a cure, support services for those afflicted, education and cancer prevention campaigns

amongst the community, and an advocacy program aiming to improve cancer control via legislation, policy and government funding reforms. This year, for the first time, a Relay For Life was held in Wynnum, a sleepy bayside suburb of Brisbane, Australia. In support of its participating employee Tara Ford, International Cargo Express made a generous donation of $500 towards this worthy cause.

With further donations, including assistance from other members of the ICE family, Tara's team were in fact the highest fundraisers of the Wynnum relay, collecting donations of $5,358. A total of $24,862 was raised in the event to contribute to the Cancer

Council Queensland's efforts.

our relationship with Trans-net Freight Rail, SA’s Na-tional rail service provider,

this morning – please see the attached press release. We signed a

Memorandum of Understanding aimed at exploring and collaborat-ing with TFR to offer multi-modal (road to rail) opportunities and solutions to our clients and the wider SA market. We have engaged Transnet for many years trying to find ways to work with them to

create smart solutions for our clients and we are delighted that these efforts have now been bedded down into a structured agreement. With transportation making up over 60% of the total supply chain

cost in South Africa, it is imperative for us to work closer with service providers like Transnet, to find more optimised and cost effective ways of transporting customers’ goods. Barloworld Logistics has had huge success in building long-term part-

nerships with clients and suppliers in the past and we look forward to growing our relationship with TFR and the wider Transnet Group with more focus and alacrity going forward. Our businesses have very complementary services and we see this smart partnership as a
