Message from the CaptainHelloBuccaneers!
Asweheadintothehomestretchoftheschoolyear,Iwanttoencourageallofourstudentstocon:nuetomakeacademicsahighpriorityintheirlives.Hardworkanddedica:onarelearnedskillsthattransfertotheworkplaceand/orcollege.Suchskillsprovideasignificantedgetoourstudents,leavingthemfeelingpreparedandconfidentandreadytosucceedintheirpost‐secondarypursuits.
WereceivedsomeoutstandingnewsrecentlyregardingourJROTCUnit.Underthedirec:onandleadershipofCommanderNesthusandChiefRodriguez,ourcadetshavethedis:nc:onasrepea:ngNa:onalAcademicChampions!Thereareover1600unitsthroughouttheUnitedStatesthatpar:cipateinthiscompe::on,sothischampionshipisquiteanachievement!WealsowanttorecognizeandcongratulateCodyBoyet,whoplacedfirstoverallintheen:rena:on!We’resoproudoftheunitandhowwelltheyrepresentedGulfHighSchool.
AsweapproachtheendoftheyearandSeniorsan:cipateandprepareforGradBash,Prom,andgradua:on,Iwouldliketothanktheclassof2010fortheirhelpinleadingtheposi:vechangesmadehereatGulfHigh
School.TheClassof2010willalwayshaveaspecialplaceinmyheart.Whiletheyprepareforthehonorofwalkingacrossthestage,as87gradua:ngclasseshavedonebeforethem,Iwouldliketothankthem,inpar:cular,forthemanywaystheyhavehelpedleadourschool.InthetwoyearsthatIhavebeenPrincipalofGHS,ourschoolhasgrowninposi:vewaysthroughtheeffortsofourstudentbody,faculty,andstaff.
Inclosing,Ichallengeeachoneofyoutocloseouttheschoolyearbybeingon:me,aXendingallofyourclasses,avoidingdisciplinaryreferrals,andworkinguptoyourpoten:alinyourclasses.Highschoolisasnapshotin:meandfliesbyfasterthanwerealize.Makeitcountanddoyourbesteachday!

childrentomakeandtake:springbracelets,
bunnymasks,facepain:ng,bunnypuppets,
bunnyearheadbands.

Wintersportsfinishedwell.WrestlingstoletheshowwinningtheSACConferenceChampionshipforthe7th:me,6thConsecu:veDistrictChampionship,RegionalChampionshipandaschoolfirstStateChampionship.TheBucshadfourmedalists:StateChampionAnthonyAyers,StateChampionLadariousJackson,StateRunnerUpRJO’ConnorandthirdplacefinisherJeffKruse.AnthonyAyerswasnamedSACandNorthSuncoastwrestleroftheyear.
GirlsBasketballdidextremelywell,winningboththeSACConferenceWestSideChampionshipandaDistrictChampionship.NicoleAdamswasSACandNorthSuncoastplayeroftheyear.BoysBasketballfinishedcompe::vewithahugeupsetwinoverMitchellHSinoneofthelastgamesoftheseason.DavidRamirezwasnamedSACPlayeroftheyear.
TheBoysandGirlssoccerteamswereextremelycompe::vefallingshortoftheplayoffsbyonlyonegameeach.
TheLadyBucsweightlidingteamfinished7thintheSACConferenceandwasextremely
toughthroughouttheseason,winningnumerousmeets.
Thespringsportshavebeenonthesamesuccessfulpace,withbothtennisteamsboas:ngwinningrecords.Theboystennisteamiscurrently7‐4,whilethegirlsteamisanamazing9‐2.Bothteamsarefavoredtoadvancetotheplayoffs.
Baseballisinareloadingphasewithmanynewfaces,whileSodballhasbeendoingincrediblywell,earninganumberthreeseedfortheirupcomingDistrictTournament.
Boysweightlidinghasbeenvictorious,winningmul:plemeets,andwillbesendinganen:resquadtotheSec:onalMeetinhopesofadvancingtotheStateSeries.
BothBoysandGirlsTrackteamshavebeenperformingwell.ThegirlsandboysteamsfinishedinthetophalfoftheSACConferenceandarepreparingfortheupcomingdistrictmeet.
Springfootballisrightaroundthecorner.TheBucswillbeplayingAncloteHighSchoolinaClassiconMay27that7:00pm.

Senior Project
•Twogenerousdona:onshavebeenmadetoGulfHighSchooltobenefitthestudentsonbehalfoftheStudentCouncil.$2,000wasgiventogotowardsthequarterlyHonorRollCelebra:onsand$1,500wasgidedtotheScholarshipFund.•OnMarch4,2010membersoftheStudentCouncilhadaveryenjoyable
dayjudgingtheYoungInventorsProjectsatCoteeRiverElementarySchool.Wehopeweareinvitedbacknextyear.•AcoffeeanddessertsocialisplannedforTeacherApprecia:onWeekandtheStudentCouncilhasalsopaidfor50%ofthecostforat‐shirtforeachteacher.Wearesurethefacultywillwearthemwithpride,plusenjoythedeliciousgoodies.•Mr.RutherfordhasvolunteeredtoDJthe2010Homecomingdance.WiththemoneywesavebynotpayingforaprofessionalDJwewillbeabletopurchaseamuchneededsoundsystemfortheac:vitycenter.•ThefirstAdopt‐A‐RoadClean‐UptookplaceonApril15,2010.TheStudentCouncilmembersdidaterrificjobofcleaningupMadisonStreetfromCeceliaDrivetoGulfDrive.Weareveryproudofthesignsthatarepostedon
