VOLUME 8, ISSUE 9 ANCHORED IN EXCELLENCE, UNITED IN PRIDE APRIL 2010 Gulf High Gazette A Bi-Monthly Newsletter www.gulfhigh.org Steve Knobl, Principal Assistant Principals: Florie Buono, Doug Elias, Dr. Judy Gallagher, Gwen Gideon, Dr. Deborah Lepley Message from the Captain Hello Buccaneers! As we head into the home stretch of the school year, I want to encourage all of our students to con:nue to make academics a high priority in their lives. Hard work and dedica:on are learned skills that transfer to the workplace and/or college. Such skills provide a significant edge to our students, leaving them feeling prepared and confident and ready to succeed in their post‐secondary pursuits. We received some outstanding news recently regarding our JROTC Unit. Under the direc:on and leadership of Commander Nesthus and Chief Rodriguez, our cadets have the dis:nc:on as repea:ng Na:onal Academic Champions! There are over 1600 units throughout the United States that par:cipate in this compe::on, so this championship is quite an achievement! We also want to recognize and congratulate Cody Boyet, who placed first overall in the en:re na:on! We’re so proud of the unit and how well they represented Gulf High School. As we approach the end of the year and Seniors an:cipate and prepare for Grad Bash, Prom, and gradua:on, I would like to thank the class of 2010 for their help in leading the posi:ve changes made here at Gulf High School. The Class of 2010 will always have a special place in my heart. While they prepare for the honor of walking across the stage, as 87 gradua:ng classes have done before them, I would like to thank them, in par:cular, for the many ways they have helped lead our school. In the two years that I have been Principal of GHS, our school has grown in posi:ve ways through the efforts of our student body, faculty, and staff. In closing, I challenge each one of you to close out the school year by being on :me, aXending all of your classes, avoiding disciplinary referrals, and working up to your poten:al in your classes. High school is a snapshot in :me and flies by faster than we realize. Make it count and do your best each day! Thank you for all that you do to keep up “Anchored in Excellence, United in Pride.” Buccaneer Pride is Alive!
