Our vision is to create a world of possibility for kids with disability. We pioneer treatments, technologies, therapies and real-world programs that give children with disabilities the tools to participate fully in life. Holland Bloorview serves about 7,000 children each year, with about 600 inpatient admissions and 58,000 outpatient visits. Holland Bloorview is a world-class teaching hospital fully affiliated with the University of Toronto. We train future health- care specialists in the field of childhood disability. The Bloorview Research Institute is located onsite, allowing us to integrate cutting-edge research and teaching with frontline care to improve children’s quality of life. Volunteering at Holland Bloorview Volunteers assist in a wide range of activities with children and young adults at Holland Bloorview. There are many exciting opportunities offered seven days a week, year-round, including: • Aquatics • Bloorview School • Centre for the Arts Dance Drama Music Visual Arts • Fundraising • Greeter/Reception Volunteers • March Break Camps • Nursery Schools • Special Events • Summer Camps • Therapeutic Playroom • Therapeutic Recreation Activities Sensory Play Arts & Crafts Baking Games Pet Visiting

How can YOU become a volunteer?• Be at least 16 years of age or older.

• Contact Volunteer Resources at: 416-422-7031 [email protected]

• Attend an Orientation Session, a Screening Interview, and a Training Session

• Provide two professional Letters of Reference

• Complete Holland Bloorview Police Check

• September – June: Make a commitment of 1 shift a week for a minimum total of 40 hours

• July – August: Make a commitment of 5 – 10 shiftsa week

Community PartnershipsVolunteer Resources is pleased to offer corporate volunteer opportunities at Holland Bloorview.

Corporate volunteerism is a great way to promoteteam building and have fun while supporting programs and services for children and youth with disabilities.

Various corporations also provide support annuallyat special events, e.g. IBM, Pricewaterhouse Coopers,CIBC, Unilever, Sales Force, Direct Energy and Capital One.

Volunteer Resources ProfileVolunteer Resources recruits, screens and trains qualified and caring volunteers from the communityto support staff in enabling children with disabilitiesto participate in life to the fullest.

Volunteers are an integral part of the team. Volunteers augment but do not replace the servicesof staff by enhancing the quality of life for the clientsof Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital.

• Approximately 1000 people volunteer throughoutthe year.

• Volunteers are active on a weekly basis from 8:30am to 8:30 pm seven days a week.

• In addition to English, in an average year, Volunteers are able to speak over 60 different languages and come from across the GTA.

• Volunteers represent over 140 educational facilities.

• Volunteers contribute over 46,000 hours annually.

• 99.5 % of Volunteers report that they would referothers to volunteer at Holland Bloorview.
