Placement tasks The main activity of the student will be to provide support in the projects of the
department. Normally those projects are related to design of new vehicles or
components based on simulation results. During the first months the student
will be trained in the tools used for such projects (mainly software of model
generation, simulations and analysis). After that, he/she will participate in the
tasks of model generation and analysis in collaboration with our senior
engineers. In the department, there are different areas of development
(Passive Safety, Stiffness & Fatigue, NVH, CFD, ...) At present, the preferred area
for the collaboration is Passive Safety, participating in a project of structure
vehicle development and possibly also in pedestrian protection. In this area, the
tools where the student will be trained are mainly LS-Dyna and Pamcrash.

Placement tasks The Japanese student holder of the Vulcanus internship will be part of the
Braking Systems department of IDIADA (Testing integrated in the complete
vehicle and Engineering Development Division), giving support to the expert
engineers in different technical domains and projects:
- Brake NVH troubleshooting, measuring all the different brake noise typologies
detected during the test and analysing the main parameters of the noises and
causes influencing such noises.
- Brake testing activities; being part of the testing development group analysing
the braking performances and working close to the expert engineers to improve
braking performances for the different development projects.e student will be
part of the team, learning how the project is managed, learning technical
issues... and she/he will support the engineers to make feasibility analysis,
collecting technical requirements from the clients, supporting the preparation
and the execution of the tests, analysing data and making proposals of
improvement (etc).

Placement tasks The student will support his/her tutor as well as the Project Engineers of Body
& Components department of IDIADA in the activities related to ongoing
projects we are performing for our clients worldwide. Our field of activity is
mainly focussed on validation projects of body parts and vehicle components.
After an initial period of training the student will become familiar with our
working procedures and will be able to support the Project Engineers in a wide
range of activities: understanding technical requirement, preparing timing
schedules, collaborating in the test preparation, collecting & analysing data,
preparing the reporting, etc. At the end of the collaboration the student will
have obtained a complete visioin about the state of the art related to the
