07RULEZ! W JUNE 2016 #MARKYOURCALENDARNOW: HOMECOMING Sat, October 8 (Oberlin) MONON BELL GAME Sat, November 12 (Home) 10 YEAR REUNION June 2-4, 2017 CLASSMATE TRAVEL BRETT GANN In October, I took a three week sabbatical to Australia and New Zealand. My adventures in- cluded diving at the Great Barrier Reef, jump- ing off of Sky Tower in Auckland, bumming around Melbourne and Sydney, surfing, and wine tours in both countries. I suppose year 30 has been pretty good to me so far. JOHN MEARA This year was perfect timing for a vacation themed update! My wife and I were lucky and went on a safari in Tanzania. We visited Serengeti, Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Parks. We also visited N’gorongoro Cra- ter Conservation Area. If you have ever thought that you would like to go on a safari, I would implore you to make it happen. Words can’t describe seeing the animals in their natural habitat. A hot air balloon ride on the 4th of July isn’t too shabby either. Next up, China 2016! Hope all is well for all the fellow 2007 graduates. Hope to see a big turnout at the 2017 Big Bash! AROUND THE WORLD From Australia to Tanzania, our classmates have been exploring the world this past year. Just remember to mark your calendars for a quick return to Crawfords- ville, Indiana, for the 2017 Big Bash and the Class of 2007’s Ten Year Reunion! For those who are able to make some additional trips back to Dear Old Wabash next year, Homecoming will be Saturday, October 8, and the 123rd Monon Bell Classic will be at home on Saturday, November 12. Considering staying local? Participate with your regional alumni association by cheering on the Little Giants at the Monon Bell Tele- cast or volunteering in your community on Wabash Day (October 1-2). www.wabash.edu/alumni has all the details or e-mail us anytime at wabash07@gmail. com!

My adventures in-cluded diving at the Great Barrier Reef, jump-ing off of Sky Tower in Auckland, bumming around Melbourne and Sydney, surfing, and wine tours in both countries. I suppose year 30 has been pretty good to me so far.

Classmate Joshua Wade Paul, 30, of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away on Sunday December 13, 2015.

“Joshua was a man of many interests. He loved to read, travel, cook, play and watch tennis. He had an incredible sense of humor and embraced all of life’s opportunities. He was a kind and lov-ing husband, son, brother, and friend. He will be incredibly missed. Joshua was born in Columbus, Indiana and grew up in Bloomington and Indianapolis Indiana. He graduated from Bloomington High School North and attended Wabash College with a degree in Psychology. During his time at Wabash he was on the tennis team, traveled to South Africa, and made lifelong friends. On Au-gust 9, 2008 Josh married Holly Burton of Dubois, Indiana. Following their wedding he graduated from Valparaiso University with a Master in Psychology and his MBA in 2015. Upon completing his masters he was the Executive Director of AccessAbilities, INC in Bloomington Indiana. His most recent position was at Meadows Hospital as Director of Development and Partial Hospital Programs. Joshua excelled in his advocacy for those who were suffering. His compassion and willingness to help others made him a leader in the community and helped push the boundaries to meet unmet needs in the community.”

Classmate Reflections

“Josh was the glue that kept the tennis team fun and competitive at all times. Sometimes playing as an athlete, you don’t remember to have fun playing the sport you love, but Josh’s personality reminded us everyday to enjoy playing. He truly lived by our less than serious team motto of “We try hard and all remain dear friends.” He will be deeply missed, but always remembered.”

-Adam Van Zee ‘07

“Josh ‘La Quinta’ Paul was one of a kind. He could keep you laughing with clever jokes but bal-anced his comedic talents with a sincere care for others. As one of Josh’s tennis teammates dur-ing our four years at wabash, I was fortunate to get to know this well-rounded character. JP was a light hearted tennis player, keeping our mediocre match play in perspective and teaching us all that lobs are a very important part of the game. Of course he also knew when to be a listening ear and a thoughtful friend. I’m grateful to have known Josh and will always remember him as a hilarious, brilliant, and caring guy. We tried hard and are all still dear friends. May he finally have found the records room...”

STEPHEN HOWE WEBB ‘83Former Wabash College Professor of Philosophy and Religion, Stephen Howe Webb, 54, of Brownsburg, Indiana, passed away on Saturday March 5, 2016.

“Dr. Webb single-handedly influenced my decision to pursue graduate work in religion/theology. Despite his every effort to dissuade me from applying to PhD programs, without knowing for cer-tain that I wanted to dedicate my life to academia, he wrote some of the best recommendations I could have requested. I greatly appreciated his candor in both teaching and advice. I often joke that I graduated with a degree in Webbisms, many of which I ought not share in this newsletter, but I will forever remember the humor he injected into his lectures, full of eccentricity and brilliance. While living in Scotland in 2008, I had the great pleasure of hearing him speak on providence at the University of Aberdeen. It was an unforgettable experience for my wife and me to connect with him abroad. Sadly his greatest fear for my career has come true, as Southern California has perhaps made me into, as he stated, “a good little liberal.” Regardless of our disagreements, I owe Dr. Webb a great deal of respect and gratitude for pushing me to be a better scholar and person.”

GARRETT PINOFirst daddy daughter dance at Promise Road el-ementary with my daughter Isabella.

TONY CALDWELLMy wife Whitney and I moved back to Indianapolis in August 2015. I am working as a healthcare technology attorney at Hall Render and Whitney is working as a labor & employment attorney at Littler Men-delson. We have enjoyed reconnecting with friends and fellow alums, and look forward to getting more involved in on-campus events. We bought a house downtown in the Fletcher Place neighborhood and love the neighborhood. We are also having fun being Airbnb hosts. Check us out if you have family/friends visiting - https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/11943576.

ZACH FOUGHTYOn December 29, Dana and I welcomed a future Little Giant, Addison David Foughty. I’ve already given warning to our newest classmate, Kay Wid-dows, that she can’t retire until she has seen him through Wabash! In other news, right now I’m fin-ishing up my 3rd year at IU School of Medicine. I’m planning on starting a residency in Pediatrics in July 2017 with the goal of ultimately doing a fellow-ship in Pediatric Cardiology.

CHARLIE HOOGLANDI have had an eventful year. I will be completing my PhD in Social Psy-chology at UK this summer, and starting a job as a Full-Time Instructor at Missouri State University in August. My wife, Aasha, and I now have a vibrant 4-month old daughter, who seems to be mere weeks away from crawling already--time flies! I was shocked and saddened to hear of the passing [of classmate Josh Paul], but I believe he will live on in the memories of his friends and family. Despite a little bit of competi-tion between the two of us, Josh and I always had a cordial relation-ship with each other, and he was truly one of the friendliest people I had the pleasure of getting to know at Wabash.

SETH NUNANMy family and I have moved back to Crawfordsville from Rancho Cu-camonga, CA. As of February, I have advanced to doctoral candidacy in religion at Claremont Graduate University and have begun the dis-sertation. More importantly, though, Jennifer, Elizabeth, and I wel-comed the newest member of our family the day before my birthday. On February 16, Michael Matthew Nunan graced us with his pres-ence. As soon as the doctor gave her the green light, Jennifer and I got back to training for another half marathon scheduled for Septem-ber and a 4-day, 48.6 mile challenge next January, including our first full marathon.
