What did you throw away today? Today go on a walk with a family member and count the number of trash cans in your home? Story Problems Items Needed: A collection of things such as, pennies, toothpicks or dried beans. Invite the children to explore the collection of small objects. Say: we have 10 pennies in a pile. Let’s move five of the items over here. Now we have 2 piles of pennies. Can you count how many are in each pile? Present various story problems such as: Let’s pretend that we are feeding these pennies to the birds that come to our window. If we see four birds, we need four chips. Uh-Oh! One bird flew away! How many RECAP Talk to your child about ways to calm down when they are upset. Ask them to share strategies they may have learned at school (Tuck like a turtle, smell the flower & blow out the candle, count to 10). Ask your child if they have other ways they can calm down when they are at home (ask for a hug, go to their room, get a drink of water, stomp their feet 3 times, etc.) Story Time Activity: Choice #1- Listen to your teacher read a book over the phone. Day 1 May 26th, 2020 Investigation 1, Day 1

Discuss with the members in your house. What did you throw away today?

Today go on a walk with a family member and count the number of trash cans in your home?

Story Problems

Items Needed: A collection of things such as, pennies, toothpicks or dried beans.

Invite the children to explore the collection of small objects. Say: we have 10 pennies in a pile. Let’s move five of the items over here. Now we have 2 piles of pennies. Can you count how many are in each pile?
