GHAYR RUKN – If left out or added intentionally makes salaa batil, but if left out or added in error, then salaa is correct.

• Qira’a

• Zhikr – recitations in ruku & sujood

• Tashahhud

• Salaam

• Tarteeb

• Muwalat

NIYYA

In obedience to Allah ( to get closer to

Him).

Niyya means the reason (intention) to

do something. All actions depend on

the reason.

TAKBEERATUL IHRAM

• Takbeer - To glorify Allah by saying

• Ihram – An act which makes certain things haram (all things which make salaa

batil)

• By reciting Takbeeratul Ihram, we enter a sacred area where all attention must be

on Allah.

QIRA’A

Recitation of Suratul Fatiha and

another sura in the first and second

rakaat of salaa and tasbihate ‘arba

in the third and fourth rakaat of

salaa.

QIRA’A

• One must remain still during

recitation.

• There should be continuity of

recitation without breaks.

• Wajib for men to recite Qira’a

in the first two rakaat of Fajr,

Maghrib & Isha loud enough for

someone present to hear.

• Wajib for all to recite Qira’a in

the first two rakaat of Dhuhr &

Asr in a low voice.

To recite quietly in the first rakaat

To stop momentarily between recitations of the first and second sura;

and between second sura & qunoot

To recite

after recitation of Suratul Fatiha and after Suratul Ikhlas

MUSTAHAB QIRA’A

Not to recite Suratul Ikhlas in any one of the 5 daily salawat

To recite the same sura in both the first and second rakaat – except Suratul Ikhlas

QIYAM

Standing upright

• Whilst reciting Takbeeratul Ihram and during Qira’a

• Just before ruku (qiyam muttas’il ba ruku’)

• After ruku’

RUKU’

• In every rakaat after Qira’a, it is wajib to bend from the

waist until fingers rest on the knee for men and just above

the knee for women

• Zhikr for ruku

SUJOOD

• Sajda is the most important part of salaa.

• Two sajdas wajib in every rakaat of salaa

• Zhikr for sujood

• Zhikr must be in Arabic

That seven parts of the body rest on the ground. Forehead must rest on either the earth or

anything that grows from the earth not used for food or clothing

To get up between the two sajdas into a sitting position

To recite takbeer before going into sajda

That the complete forehead and the nose touch the ground and to look towards one’s nose

Salaam is wajib after the tashahhud of the last rakaat

TARTEEB & MUWALAT

TarteebIt is necessary that every part of salaa

be performed in the prescribed order

MuwalatAll actions of salaa must follow one

another without any unusual interval
