Once again, we had a great day, thanks to Ms Sand’s expert organisation skills. A big thank you to our FoTs parents also for running the refreshments stall $617.50 was raised on the day. Production This year’s school production was another huge success. We are all very proud of the students’ acting, singing and dancing skills. Our back stage, and sound and lighting crew also did a great job. Thanks to all the staff and parents who helped make this year’s show spectacular. A ‘Production Memories’ notice accompanies this newsletter. If you would like to purchase the DVD or photos, please complete and pay for orders by next Tuesday 22 nd November. See form attached. Reports and Portfolios Reports will be sent home with all Year 4 – 6 students and Year 1 – 3 students who are due for a six-month anniversary or end of year report on Thursday 15 th December. Portfolios will be sent home with all students on the same day. Information about your child’s 2017 class will accompany the report/portfolio. All portfolios must be returned to school by Monday 19 th December unless your child is not returning to Waikowhai Primary School at the beginning of 2017. 2016 Year Book We have been unable to secure a sponsor for this year’s Yearbook. However, the school will pay 50% of the cost of the book and we are asking families to pay $5. One Yearbook per family will be available to purchase. If you would like to order a 2016 Yearbook, please complete the attached notice and return by this Friday. The Zone Athletics were held at Three Kings Park yesterday and our students did extremely well. Congratulations to: Max Munro, Richmond Marsters, Kobe Phillip, Caroline Reopoamo, Katelyn Rutland, our Senior Boys Relay and Junior Boys Relay Teams and a very special thanks to Dave McKee for helping with the High Jump. Room  5  Wrote  About  Their  Favourite  Part  In    Our  School  Production.  

 

We had our school production. The best part was when Mrs Jones, Mr Ross and the guards were dancing. Josef Kupu

 My favourite part was when Room 10 danced on the stage. Their song was Pussy Cat.

They were wearing stripy t-shirts and pants. It was very funny and awesome too. Peitynn Faa’tea  

My favourite part was when the rabbits were dancing. Every class danced really well. Abdul Hadi Bilal

 My favourite part was when the queen said, “Off with her head.”

Mahan Khanzadeh The best part was when the queen and Alice were playing croquet with the hedgehogs and the flamingos. TJ Noa

 My favourite part was when the pigeons came gliding down

MERIT CERTIFICATES…… Classroom teachers award merit certificates to students who have made an exceptional effort or have improved in a particular curriculum area. We would like to congratulate the following students who have received merit certificates in the last week: Alexandra Marshall, Temana Nepia, Faith Mausia, Vivien Phang, Logan Liang, Rael Noa, Rudy Levao, Kenny Zhen, Leo Chen, Skye Perry, Ricky Li, Tayeb Omeri, Jamal Hamid, Nikhil Govind, Toby Simpson, Kowhai Wihapi, Reegan Hall and Sylvia Huang. DUFFY CERTIFICATES…… Duffy certificates are values based and are awarded by classroom teachers to students who have demonstrated a key value such as kindness, respect, responsibility, empathy or honesty towards others. We would like to congratulate the following students who received Duffy certificates in the last week: Lewis Kennedy, Eloise Brown, Bronson Hall, Mahan Khanzadeh, Sam Hughes, Bailey Brown, Cruise Raftstrand-Subritsky, Antonio Mata, Emelio Tongia, Ben Lee, Hame Palelei

STUDENT  OF  THE  WEEK  Congratulations to Kalana Longopoa from Room 8 for being selected as

Student of the Week last week……..Well done!    

 

POSTCARDS… Teachers send postcards to children’s homes when they notice something extra special that a child has done, either in the classroom or in the playground. Congratulations to the following children who were sent postcards in the last couple of weeks: Josie Noa, Benjamin Schumacher, Maddison Brown, Bella Brown, Jonathon McLellan, Abdul Hadi Bilal, Charlotte Nagle and Maanov Bali.

Better Funding, Better Schools Our Board of Trustees and staff are supporting the NZEI’s initiative on the ‘Better Funding, Better Learning’ campaign. Please read the information attached to this newsletter. There are also postage-paid postcards available in the Office.

Christmas Hampers Once again, we are asking for donations of dried or tinned food and Christmas gifts to fill Christmas Hampers for families in our local community. If you are able to contribute please drop your donations into the school office. If possible, please wrap Christmas gifts and label whether they are for a boy/girl and the age. Thank you for your support!

COMMUNITY NOTICES  

Come on down to Three Kings Reserve for a fun family Christmas celebration. Enjoy the festival atmosphere with market stalls, a bouncy castle and a beautiful Santa’s grotto. There’ll be plenty of delicious food on offer, so have an early tea while you enjoy the stage performances from local schools and community groups.
