Walking for the Cause  

  Across Florida and Ohio, our associates have been busy making strides for breast cancer, remembering those suffering from Alzheimer’s, and raising awareness of heart disease at various walks and runs across the na on. Breast cancer awareness month took place in October. November marks Alzheimer’s awareness month. Both causes affect our friends, families and our residents. Many of our associates took part in events in their communi es with the support of the Greystone Health Network.              In Ohio, the Mount Vernon Health and Rehabilita on Center team called the Guardians of Memory walked to support Alzheimer’s Awareness in honor of their residents affected by the disease.              Many of our Florida loca ons joined in the effort, walking in Port Charlo e and Gainesville Alzheimer’s Associa on Memory Walks. In Gainesville, the network received an award for their support and sponsorship including our Riverwood Health and Rehabilita on Center, Greystone Home Health and Park Meadows Health and Rehabilita on Center teams. Park Meadows represented with the largest walking team at the event.  In Port Charlo e, Village Place Health and Rehabilita on Center 

represented the network in support and awareness of the Alzheimer’s cause.              Our home office in Tampa, FL joined breast cancer awareness efforts by running or walking in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Treasure Chests 5K. Par cipa ng for the second year, center’s as far as The Club Health and Rehabilita on Center at The Villages and The Lodge Health and Rehabilita on Center in Ocala, FL joined in to double the company’s par cipants from 2014. Congratula ons to Tori Couch, who placed third in her division during the 5K race.              Suppor ng our own health as well as the awareness, support and health of others affected by these diseases con nues into November as Greystone Health Network centers throughout Florida and Ohio par cipate in upcoming Alzheimer’s walks and American Heart Associa on Heart Walk’s.

Le er from the CEO    The holidays are one of my favorite  mes of the year. Families and friends gather together, we each celebrate another year of successes and growth, and the an cipa on of a new year brings new possibili es and excitement for the future.    I am so thankful to each of you for allowing the Greystone Health Network to be a part of your holiday season, and for the joy we each share in our communi es. The smiling faces I see year‐round are evidence of the sense of family and care that we provide our residents, families and friends.    Each year I see our Greystone families rise to the holiday occasion and I know this year we will be no different. Across Ohio and Florida, our centers are busy planning holiday meals and celebra ons. We hope you will join us to ring in the season with our upcoming fes vi es.    While the holiday’s bring so much joy, they may also bring stress. Adding the various celebra ons, par es and events to an already busy life can some mes be overwhelming. Don’t forget to take  me for yourself this season, and make your own health a priority. Get plenty of rest, make healthy dining choices and make a mee ng with yourself for regular exercise.     From our family to yours, I wish you a warm and happy holiday season!

Resident of the Month

Jose J. Lichilin 

  Jose was born in Weehawken, New Jersey on June 1 of 1965. He resided there un l he moved to Miami in 1977. Jose  loves the community here due to the diverse culture and the beau ful beaches.    Before joining the Unity Health and Rehabilita on Center family, Jose was a lunch truck driver. The job was perfect for his personality. He has an uncanny ability to make people laugh. The staff has already grown a ached to him in his short  me with us.    Jose’s advice to the younger genera on is “to be be er, not bi er in life!” Jose has been nothing short of amazing since his arrival.

Associate of the Month

Maria Gonzalez 

  Maria Gonzalez was born in Nicaragua on October 12, 1967. She moved to Miami years ago to be with her family. She has been working with Unity Health and Rehabilita on Center for five and a half years as a housekeeping aide.    Maria loves the ability to get to know and assist all of the residents while also comple ng her assignments. She does a great job of lending herself  to anyone who needs her help without complaint.   If she won the lo ery, Maria would help her own family 

and her Unity family, but eventually she would re re. In 10 years she sees herself con nuing to enjoy life and con nuing to help her residents.  Thank you for sharing your story!   Congratula ons on being selected as our associate of the month!
