BRITTANY: THE GRANITE COAST A colourful walk through the heart of Brittany; pink granite rocks sculpted by the wind and tides, pristine white sandy beaches and a turquoise sea together form an amazingly vibrant landscape. The Cote de Granit Rose (pink granite coast) runs from Plestin-les-Greves to Louannec in the Cotes d'Armor region of Brittany and is one of the most outstanding coastlines in Europe. This thirty kilometre stretch of rocky coast has an incredible pink colour edge, complimented by turquoise sea and white sandy beaches. Your holiday begins in Lannion; a historic town located on the estuary of the River Léguer which has stunning panoramic views. Your walk then takes you to Trèbeurden, Perros-Guirec, Pointe du Cháteau and finally Brèhat; a small island affectionately known as the 'Island of Flowers'. Throughout the trail you will find purple heather, blue flax flowers and golden boom flowers. Brittany is also full of local specialties but it is, above all, well known for its beautiful seafood and pancakes and when it comes to drinks you must sample Brittany’s cider which is typically served with pancakes and crèpes. Brittany is the second largest cider producing region in France and renowned for its full bodied, sweet ciders. Your holiday is a 6 day and 6 night itinerary, which incorporates 6 days of easy to moderate walking. pristine white sandy beaches and a turquoise sea together form an amazingly vibrant landscape.

DAY 1

Arrive in Lannion

Arrive in the town of Lannion and spend time

exploring this traditional town. Lannion has

something for everyone from the old town centre

with is narrow cobbled alleys and preserved

historic heritage to the quintessential slate and

timber facades of the typical houses. This free

afternoon gives you the chance to discover

beautiful manors and chateaus, along with

countless chapels.

Overnight: Hotel Ibis Lannion

Lannion is a little short on charming hotels so

you will overnight in the comfortable Ibis hotel, it

is located close to the historic town centre and

only 10 minutes from the beach. You can relax in

either the hotel bar or outside on the garden

terrace. The rooms are modern with a bath or

shower and have all the amenities you will need.

DAY 2

Walk Lannion to Trèbeurden - 11

miles / 18km

The day begins with a walk along the river

Lèguer out of Lannion, you will soon reach the

coastline where you will find yourself surrounded

by pristine white sandy beaches. As you walk

along the coast you will come to Trèbeuden; a

quaint seafront village with its own marina and

sailing school, the perfect place to relax with the

sea air and welcoming seafront restaurants. Your

day finishes with a short transfer to the Gulf of

Kerenoc for your overnight stay.

Dinner & overnight: Hotel Golf de Saint

Samson, Pleumeur-Bodou

This hotel is located in the picturesque town of

Pleumeur-Bodou and offers panoramic views of

the crystal clear blue sea and across the 18 hole

golf course. It has a great restaurant offering

local produce and the best fresh seafood in the

area.

DAY 3

‘Ile Grande’ Great Island circle walk -

12 miles / 20km

The ’Ile Grande’ is connected to the mainland by

a stone bridge; the perfect start to discovering

the charm of the island with its narrow and

winding streets and its carefully maintained

gardens and small houses immersed in flowers.

You will encounter many points of interest as you

follow the small paths and trails along the sea,

the small port of Saint Sauveur, the pebble

beaches and sand dunes or even the

ornithological station to learn all about the

seabirds.

Dinner & overnight: Hotel Golf de Saint

Samson, Pleumeur-Bodou

DAY 4

Walk Pleumeur-Bodou to Perros-

Guirec - 14 miles / 24km

Landrellec and Bringuiller form small peninsulas

which are protected natural sites of exceptional

beauty. The unusual landscapes where land and

sea collide are dotted with pink granite rocks.

You will find yourself walking along the long

white sandy beaches of Trègastel which are in

stark contrast to the pink rocks of Ploumanac’h.

You will stay overnight in Perros-Guirec which

enjoys panoramic views over the archipelago of

seven islands.

Dinner & overnight: Hotel Hermitage, Perros-

Guirec

Hotel Hermitage is close to the beach and

surrounded by a large private garden, this hotel

offers peace, tranquillity and friendliness. All the

rooms have recently been refurbished and the

hotel also has a guest lounge, bar and spa.

DAY 5

Little cruise to the 7 islands - 7

miles / 11.5km

This day sees you cruising around the

archipelago of seven islands that you were

admiring the previous night. It is home to one of

the largest bird sanctuaries in France, you will

find thousands of gannets, puffins and auks all

nesting across the islands. In the afternoon you

can walk through the Trauiros valley or spend

your free time in Perros-Guirec.

Guirec

DAY 6

Walk Port-Blanc to Pointe du

Chàteau - Brèhat - 9 miles / 15km

Short transfer to Port Blanc, where you will

discover a coast of jagged peaks and small

islands with rocky shores. You walk to Pointe du

Chàteau which overlooks the Jaudy estuary, at

the site of ‘Le Gouffe’, the amazing house

between two rocks stands in the middle of a

small island. In the afternoon you transfer to

Arcouest point and cross to Brèhat Island.

Overnight: Men Joliguet guest house, Brèhat

A warm welcome awaits you at this quaint guest

house, it is located opposite the harbour and has

immaculate gardens filled with a wide variety of

flowers and shrubs, your room will either have

views over this amazing garden and harbour or

you will have a private terrace.

DAY 7

Explore Brèhat & depart - 9 miles /

15km

Brehat; the island of flowers and the first place in

France to be classified as a site of outstanding

natural beauty. Your last day is at leisure and

allows you to explore at your own pace. You can

climb to the highest point, marked by the chapel

of St Michael which is just 26 metres high but

does allow you to marvel in the richly tinted

orange and pink rocks along the sea. Your day

finishes with a transfer to Paimpol for your

onward journey.

along the walk.

Grade & Fitness

This walking tour is graded easy to moderate.

Long walking routes, but very little ascent /

descent. The route follows well-marked walking

paths and the average day is between of 3-6

hours.

Navigation

Most of the walks on this trip are way marked

and you will be supplied with route notes and

maps to navigate your way.

Accommodation

We specifically select your accommodation in

comfortable hotels to ensure that you enjoy every

minute of your stay in France. They all offer a

warm welcome to walkers, traditional hospitality

and delicious local food.

Rail - Eurostar from London St Pancras to Brest

(approx. 9 hrs) TVG train from Brest to Lannion

(approx. 1 hr)

Car - Eurotunnel –Folkstone to Calais (approx.

35 mins) Drive from Calais to Lannion (approx.

6hrs)

Ferry - Portsmouth is the closest ferry port to

London and with direct access from the

motorway, it is also easily reached from the

Midlands and Southern England.

Cruise to St Malo in just under 11 hours

overnight and sail back on a daytime crossing.

You can drive from St Malo to Lannion in under 2

hours.

Getting from Paimpol

Air - Paris Orly West is the closest international

Lannion is the closest regional airport and is

serviced by Airlinair from Paris Orly West airport.
