- exercises power RIGHTEOUSLY.

•The king God wants:

- Depends upon God and can be trusted with power

•The king God wants:

- full obedience to God

• Although Saul was Israel’s choice, God would still BLESS if the people would OBEY.

Saul’s character

David

* God chooses David as king to succeed Saul. In choosing David God illustrates another spiritual principle: God looks at the HEART.

* David and Goliath – David TRUSTS God

* God’s makes an everlasting COVENANT with David

* David’s two great SINS

* David made mistakes but his heart BELONGS to God
