1. Our story so far…

Aya is one of the last descendants of a cursed bloodline. The Baneful Blood that flows through her veins ensures that her life will be filled with conflict, heartache, and madness. When blood touches Aya’s skin her Baneful Blood sings out a song of havoc and infuses her body with a terrible power. The power of the Baneful Blood lets Aya fight with rage and ferocity but it slowly destroys her mind. In time, the Baneful Blood may consume her.

Aya, using the powers of the Baneful Blood, made her living as an assassin. She had trouble relating to most normal people. Normal humans tainted by Baneful Blood become zombies. These zombies, in turn, infect other humans also turning them into zombies. Aya still tries to stop the vicious cycle by killing zombies wherever she can find them.

Aya thought that she was alone in the world. After her first zombie incident she found another girl cursed with the Baneful Blood: her half-sister Saki. While they were initially driven by their Baneful Blood to fight one another, Aya and Saki became good friends. Though they still clashed from time to time, they learned to love and care for each other as sisters. Saki even picked up her big sister’s trade: assassination. For awhile it seemed that Aya and Saki might live relatively peaceful lives.

The peace did not last. Another woman with the Baneful Blood, Eva, trapped and abducted Saki. While trying to free her sister from Eva’s clutches, Aya was approached by an agent from a mysterious organization: Reiko. Aya did not trust the organization’s motives, but she needed all the help she could get in order to defeat Eva. Begrudgingly, Aya accepted Reiko’s offer of partnership and together they slew Eva.

After the fight Aya was betrayed. Reiko cut out Eva’s heart and consumed it. By eating Eva’s heart Reiko gained the curse and power of Eva’s Baneful Blood. Horrified by Reiko’s actions, Aya attacked Reiko and struck her down. However, Aya could not bring herself to kill her former ally. Her final strike did not kill Reiko. It only left a ragged wound in her neck. Aya had shown mercy by delivering the last cut with back of her sword. With Saki finally safe, and Eva dead, Aya and her sister returned home.

Once again the peace did not last, for the curse of the Baneful Blood weaves a tangled web. One afternoon while relaxing in their condo, Saki noticed reports on the television of rioters flooding the city streets. However, the so-called rioters were not angry citizens. They were zombies.

2. Saves

Onechanbara has two types of saves: normal and mid-game. At the end of every chapter the player is prompted to save the game. This is a normal save. Normal saves are quite sound and will record any of the dress-up and option changes made since last playing the game. A player can manually save the game with a normal save by going to the “Options” menu from the main menu and selecting “Save.”

If a player quits during gameplay they will be given the option of creating a mid-game save. These saves are temporary. Mid-game saves can easily be lost by simply entering different areas of the

D3Publisher of America, Inc. Page 3

Page 4: Walkthrough Onechanbara XBox 360

Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad – Xbox 360

game. For example, if a player has a mid-game save in Story Mode and they enter Survival Mode, they will be prompted with a text box stating that if they proceed their mid-game save will be erased.

Note that while a mid-game save will record the player’s current position in the level, number of items (including keys), and their character’s health, a mid-game save will not record a boss’s current health level. If a player exits a boss fight, and records their game with a mid-game save, the boss will be at full health when they return.

Counter Stance: To execute this attack press Y and B at the same time. Game time will slow down and the character will make a quick attack. This attack is uninterruptible and while performing this attack the character is invincible. All characters, except Annna, will lose a bit of life when using this attack.

Tip: This attack can be used to kill Mudmen. In the higher difficulties use Counter Stance to avoid attacks. The tradeoff in life is worth it.

Switch Attack: This attack only works if the player has a secondary character. To execute this attack press RT and then X. The second character will come into gameplay already attacking while the primary character leaves play. This attack is uninterruptible.

Tip: This a great attack to use when the character is surrounded and low on life.

Jump Kick: Press A and then press Y while the character is in the air to deliver a standard jump kick.

Spin Kick: Hold down the RB to “Lock On” and press Y while pressing forward on the left analog stick.

Tip: This kick is capable of throwing enemies back a great distance.

Side Kick: To use this kick, “Lock On” by holding down the RB and press Y while pressing left or right on the left analog stick.

Tip: This move is great for creating room to dodge.

Foot Sweep: To perform a Foot Sweep, “Lock On” by holding down the RB and press Y while pressing back on the left analog stick.

Tip: This move is great for hitting enemies that have been knocked down.

Thrust: Only characters with swords can perform this attack. “Lock On” by holding down the RB. Then press X while moving forward with the left analog stick.

Tip: This attack can bypass enemy blocks.

Upward Slash: Only characters with swords can perform this attack. “Lock On” by holding down the RB. Then press X while moving back with the left analog stick.

Tip: This attack is great for clearing the area of zombies attempting to flank the character while she is focused on a boss.

Counter Attack: Normally, only Aya and Saki can perform this attack. First trigger Clear Sight Mode by performing a Dodge just as the character is being attacked. While in Clear Sight Mode, press X to deliver the Counter Attack.

Tip: This attack can kill Mudmen and deals large amounts of damage to bosses.

Taunt: Press up on the D-pad. The character will taunt her enemies causing them to move towards to her.

Tip: Taunting is useful for herding groups of zombies. Keep in mind that the character is vulnerable during the taunt animation.

4. Basic Gameplay Concepts

Baneful Blood

Aya and Saki, being the descendants of a cursed bloodline, have Baneful Blood. Their Baneful Blood allows them to go into Rampage Mode when splattered with enough blood. The character portrait acts as a Splatter Gauge. The portrait will fill with blood as they are splattered with gore. Once their Splatter Gauge is full, it will start flashing and the character will enter Rampage Mode as soon as she is on her feet and not attacking. The portrait fills with a bit of blood every time the character is hit, deals a hit, or every time she collects a Red Orb. Fighting some enemies, such as Mudmen or a Blood Mist Zombies, will fill the gauge faster than others.

Once in Rampage Mode, the character’s health will constantly drain and she will take double damage from all attacks. However, she will also deal double damage, move at double speed, and her attacks will be uninterruptible. She will no longer be subject to knock-back or knockdown effects and her attacks will effect Mudmen. Additionally, while in Rampage Mode, any Red Orbs she picks up will heal her by a small amount. Characters can only leave Rampage Mode by using a Goddess Statue Fragment, visiting a Goddess Statue, dying, or completing the Chapter.

If a character goes into Rampage Mode on the final hit of a Cool Combo, then she will enter Double Rampage Mode. In Double Rampage Mode her health drains at twice the Rampage Mode rate and she takes quadruple damage from all attacks. She also deals quadruple damage and moves at quadruple speed. Just as in Rampage Mode her attacks are uninterruptible, she is not subject to knock-back or knockdown, and her attacks effect Mudmen. In Double Rampage Mode the character’s Ecstasy Attack changes from her normal Ecstasy Attack to an Explosive Ecstasy Attack which is far more potent. Her Counter Stance attack receives an upgrade as well. In Double Rampage Mode it will launch a foe-seeking cloud of Blood Mist.

Switching Characters

Players will often have two characters at a time. To switch between the characters simply press RT. While a character is inactive they cannot take damage, even if they are in Rampage Mode. Inactive characters may even heal over time.

When taking damage, notice that some segments of the Vitality Gauge are empty and some are filled with a light blue color. While inactive, a character will slowly regain any light blue segments on their Vitality Gauge. If a player switches to an inactive character with light blue segments on their Vitality Gauge then those segments will become empty. Thus, it is best to keep wounded characters inactive until all their light blue Vitality Gauge segments have been refilled.

Additionally if the Ecstasy Meter of any character, other than Annna, fills and they do not use an Ecstasy Attack, then the inactive character’s Ecstasy Meter will also begin to fill. The inactive character’s Ecstasy Meter will fall if the active character is not attacking enemies.

D3Publisher of America, Inc. Page 6

Page 7: Walkthrough Onechanbara XBox 360

Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad – Xbox 360

Gore Meter

As Saki and Aya slice through groups of zombies, their swords become tainted with the blood and gore of their foes. This is represented by the sword with the rising Gore Meter on the left side of the screen. As the sword fills with blood, their attacks become slower and deal less damage. If the sword fills completely with blood, then it will become stuck in any humanoid, non-boss enemy they strike. This could prove disastrous if the character is unable to move while in a huge group of zombies. Therefore it is best to keep swords clean and ready at all times by wiping them clean with the LB.

A bloody sword can prove useful in certain situations. When attempting to perform a combo, especially on Blood Mist Zombies, a bloody sword can help by slowing down the timing for the combo. This tactic will not work on lesser zombies as a bloody blade will become stuck when striking them, but Blood Mist Zombies have no such draw back. Blades simply will not stick in their misty bodies. Against Blood Mist Zombies the consistency of combo timing provided by the bloody sword can be an aid in completing a Cool Combo. Note that the “Bloody Sword” Quest requires that you end Chapters with a bloody sword.

Ecstasy Meter

Wrapping around every character’s portrait is her Ecstasy Meter. This meter has three partitions and fills as they attack foes. When a partition fills, the character can perform an Ecstasy Attack. Using an Ecstasy Attack drains a partition’s worth from the meter. Thus a full meter could be used three times. The Ecstasy Meter only fills when the character actually lands her blows. If she stops attacking enemies, her Ecstasy Meter will start to fall. The rate at which her Ecstasy Meter fills and falls is based on her “Skill.” With a high “Skill” the Ecstasy Meter will fill quicker and fall slower.

Ammo Counter

As Annna fires her guns, the Ammo Counter near her portrait will count down. The counter represents the amount of ammo Annna has left in her guns. Annna has two sets of guns and their ammo is tracked separately. Annna can reload her guns by pressing the LB. Annna never truly runs out of ammo, she only needs to pause and reload.

Clear Sight Mode

When executing a Dodge, Aya and Saki have a chance to enter Clear Sight Mode. While in Clear Sight Mode, game speed slows down to a crawl and the character is invincible. To trigger Clear Sight Mode, have the character perform a Dodge just as she is being attacked. Clear Sight Mode lasts for just a few seconds, but it is often more than enough time to allow for an escape or to perform a powerful Counter Attack. The duration of Clear Sight Mode can be lengthened by using the Clear Sight Bracelet.

Standard Combo

When using Aya or Saki pressing X repeatedly will automatically string a series of attacks together based on her “Skill.” With high amounts of “Skill” the sisters can quickly cover a large area with these

D3Publisher of America, Inc. Page 7

Page 8: Walkthrough Onechanbara XBox 360

attacks. Charts detailing the amount and types of attacks each character can perform based on their skill can be found in Characters and Special Moves.

Chaotic Luster Maelstrom

This is also known as the Manual Combo and it can only be performed by Saki and Aya. Aya must be using her Single Sword Style to perform this attack. Each hit in this combo grants a greater gain on the Ecstasy Meter than a hit on the Standard Combo.

To begin this attack, the player must vary the timing on the Standard Combo. Press X three times (thus performing the first three moves of the Standard Combo) then pause for about a half a second and press X again. At this point the character’s animations will start to differ from the Standard Combo. The player can continue to chain attacks by pressing X above and beyond the Standard Combo’s maximum number of attacks. Saki’s Chaotic Luster Maelstrom will continue for an additional nineteen attacks and Aya’s will trail on for an additional twenty five.

The timing for the attacks will become increasingly difficult as player continues. This can also be complicated by increasing amount of blood gathered on the character’s sword as she slays foes. If a player is having difficulty completing this combo, it may be wise for them to practice the combo with a bloody sword or to use the Sparkling Sword Bracelet. Another option would be to use the Special Skill Bracelet. With the Special Skill Bracelet the timing window for the combo is longer, thus the combo is easier to perform.

Alternatively, the player can begin this combo after every attack of a Standard Combo divisible by three. For example, the player could perform the first six (or even nine) attacks of a Standard Combo, then pause and begin the Chaotic Luster Maelstrom by pressing X. If the player starts the combo later in the Standard Combo, then the speed of the attacks in the Chaotic Luster Maelstrom, as well as the amount of charge added to the Ecstasy Meter, will be increased.

Beyond the first few moves of the Chaotic Luster Maelstrom the effective range diminishes as the character is unable to change the direction she is facing between attacks. This means that unless the player breaks the combo the character will soon be moving in a straight line cutting at empty air. However, this combo is useful for defeating slow moving bosses and works well for clearing confined hallways. It also is required for completing the “Dance of the Empress” Quest.

Cool Combo

The Cool Combo is the toughest combo to perform in the game. The secret to pulling off the Cool Combo is timing. To perform the Cool Combo, the player must press X to trigger the next attack for the Standard Combo just as the previous one hits. This means that when a player walks up to an enemy that they want to perform the Cool Combo on, they start by pressing X to make a standard attack. Then the player presses X just as the first attack lands to trigger the second attack. Just as the second attack hits they press X again to trigger the third attack, and so on… The Cool Combo attack does not have to hit an enemy in order to continue. As long as the timing is correct, even a slash at empty air will count as part of the combo. If the player misses the timing on any of the attacks in the chain then the combo is broken and they must start again.

Page 9: Walkthrough Onechanbara XBox 360

Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad – Xbox 360

A Cool Combo Hit

The game gives several indications that the Cool Combo is being performed correctly. When the player makes a Cool Combo hit, the screen flashes with white X’s, the sword strike makes an odd “whooshing” sound, and the controller vibrates.

Practice Mode can be useful for practicing the Cool Combo. Using the Timing Bar a player can see the timing window for pressing X. The window appears as the yellow portion of the bar. However, players should guard against using the Timing Bar too often. The bar is not available outside of Practice Mode and it is very easy to become overly dependent upon it. Instead, players should consider using the sound of the attack or the motion of the animation to gauge the timing for the Cool Combo. It is suggested that players turn off other sounds and/or watch the animations closely and use the Timing Bar only as an occasional reference.

There are some ways to make performing the Cool Combo easier. The timing for the Cool Combo is based off of “Skill,” so having maxed out “Skill” is very important. The Special Skill Bracelet increases the length of the timing window for performing all combos. This means that with the Special Skill Bracelet, the timing for the Cool Combo is more forgiving, thus the combo is easier to pull off.

It is also important to pay attention to the amount of blood the character has accumulated on her sword. As a sword becomes covered with blood, the timing of attacks will change. This causes the timing to become progressively more difficult as the player attempts to chain attacks together. A good way to deal with this is to either practice the Cool Combo with a bloody sword (useful when trying to defeat Blood Mist Zombies) or use the Sparking Sword Bracelet to reduce the amount of blood gained from attacks.

The Cool Combo deals double damage with each hit. This means that a player could use the Cool Combo to easily complete the “Swift and Beautiful Death” Quest and defeat difficult bosses. The Cool Combo always has a one more attack than the maximum number of attacks in the character's

D3Publisher of America, Inc. Page 9

Page 10: Walkthrough Onechanbara XBox 360

Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad – Xbox 360

Standard Combo. For example, if Aya's current skill grants her six attacks with her Standard Combo, then her Cool Combo will max out at seven attacks.

The Cool Combo is also the only way to unlock many of the items in the game. The “Cool Master” and “Rampaging Baneful Blood” Quests both require mastery of the Cool Combo. Blood Mist Zombies are only affected by Cool Combo hits. This means that unless the Cool Combo is mastered most of the Bracelets and some of the Achievements will remain locked.

5. Characters and Special Moves

Aya

Aya is our beautiful bikini clad heroine. She is a well rounded character capable of mowing down hordes of zombies with the broad, sweeping strokes of her swords. She also has the longest Cool combo. This makes her essential to unlocking Bracelets and completing Quests. Aya starts with the Single Sword Style and gains the Double Sword Style in Chapter 3. Overall she is the easiest character to use to complete Story Mode.

The damage dealt by Aya's attacks is based off of her “Power” stat. The higher her “Power,” the greater the damage. Beginning players should focus on leveling her “Power” and then her “Vitality.” “Skill” should be preferred over “Range” when leveling Aya as she receives extra attacks from her “Skill” fairly often. The higher her “Skill” bar is the easier it is to unlock the Bracelets and complete many of the quests.

Whirlwind Ecstasy Attack

To perform an Ecstasy Attack press X and A at the same time while the Ecstasy Meter is charged. During an Ecstasy Attack, Aya will spin in circles attacking all foes around her except for those directly behind her.

While performing an Ecstasy Attack, Aya is invincible. Aya does not move very far during an Ecstasy Attack, but her direction and facing can be changed by moving the left analog stick. The Ecstasy Attack has a duration based on Aya’s “Skill.” The more “Skill” Aya has the longer the attack lasts.

Aya’s Whirlwind Ecstasy Attack is great for mowing down large groups of enemies. The best approach is to jump into the largest clump of foes and trigger the attack. While the attack continues simply direct Aya into any stragglers. Since it may be hard see what is going on, with Aya making such a wonderful mess, a player’s best option is to watch the mini-map. Then all they have to do is chase down the red dots with their green triangle of doom.

Aya’s Single Sword Style

In general, Aya’s Single Sword Style deals more damage than her Double Sword Style but covers a smaller area. This style allows Aya to make ranged attacks with her throwing knives.

Hand Thrust: To perform this attack, the player must vary the timing on the Standard Combo. Press X three times (thus performing the first three moves of the Standard Combo) then pause for about a half a second and press X again while holding the left analog stick in any direction. Aya will quickly sheath her sword, dash in the direction selected, and make a swift strike/grab motion with her hand.

Tip: This move instantly kills Mudmen and must be mastered to complete the “Zombie Piercer” Quest

Throw Knives: Press B and Aya will toss out small throwing knives. Tip: Aya can “Lock On” to aim her throwing knives with the RB. Aya can equip the

Piercing Bracelet to get more mileage out of the throwing knives. They are really useful for picking off Bird Zombies.

Jumping Knife Toss: Press A and then B while in the air. Aya will jump into the air and throw knives.

Tip: Aya can “Lock On” before starting the jump to aim the knives.

Jump Attack: Press A and then press X while Aya is rising up into the air. Aya will leap into the air and then spin in a circle with her sword.

Tip: This attack allows Aya to move quickly and covers a large amount of ground. Try Jump Attacking in a box shaped pattern around bosses. Aya does not have a chance of

Downward Slash: Press A and then press X while Aya is falling back to the ground. Aya will land with a powerful overhead slash.

Tip: The Downward Slash is a great way to greet a small clump of zombies. Be careful, if a character is hit while jumping they will be knocked down.

Aya’s Double Sword StyleIn general, Aya’s Double Sword Style deals less damage than her Single Sword Style but

covers a larger area. Note that Aya cannot use her Chaotic Luster Maelstrom or Hand Thrust with this style.

Single Whirlwind Attack: To perform this attack, move the left analog stick in a full circle (clockwise or counter-clockwise, either will work) and then press X. When executed, this move resembles a shortened version of Aya’s Whirlwind Ecstasy Attack.

Tip: This move simulates an Ecstasy Attack without using any charge from Aya’s Ecstasy Meter.

Double Sword Slash: Press B to perform this attack. Aya will lunge forward and strike with both blades.

Tip: This move is ideal for moving into a clump of zombies to set up an even bigger attack.

Double Downward Slash: Press A and then press B while Aya is in the air. Aya will come down with an overhead slash using both her swords.

Tip: The Double Downward Slash is a great way to greet a small clump of zombies and it is not as timing intensive and the Downward Slash. Be careful, if a character is hit while jumping they will be knocked down.

Double Sword Jump Attack: To perform this attack, press A and then press X while Aya is in the air. Aya will leap into the air, perform a spin, and then spin in a circle with her swords.

Tip: This is arguably one of the best attacks in the game. This attack works just like Aya’s Single Sword Style Jump Attack but it covers an even larger area and is less timing intensive. Be careful, if a character is hit while jumping they will be knocked down.

Scissor Kick: This move replaces Aya’s standard Spin Kick. Hold down the RB to “Lock On” and press Y while pressing forward on the left analog stick.

Tip: This move covers a much wider area than the normal Spin Kick and can stun an entire group of zombies.

Saki

Saki is Aya’s young, fiery half-sister. She is a melee centered character with access to unique wrestling moves. Most of Saki’s moves lend themselves to focusing on one foe at a time. Saki’s one ranged attack is quite powerful though. When using her Ecstasy Attack Saki throws out waves of energy in a long but narrow range. Unlike Aya and Anna, Saki has only one fighting style. Overall she is the hardest character to use to complete Story Mode.

The damage dealt by Saki's attacks is based off of her “Power” stat. The higher her “Power” the greater the damage. Beginning players should focus on leveling her “Power” and then her “Vitality.” “Range” should be preferred over “Skill” when leveling Saki as she does not receive much payoff for her points in “Skill.”

Energy Wave Ecstasy Attack: To perform an Ecstasy Attack, press X and A at the same time while the Ecstasy Meter is charged. When this attack is triggered, Saki launches a series of Energy Waves. Saki is invincible when performing this attack.

Saki’s Energy Wave Ecstasy Attack is great for mowing down enemies that are lined up in a row. Since Saki remains stationary when performing the Energy Wave Ecstasy Attack, the best approach is to start the attack in a corner or at the end of a long hallway to limit the number of angles that enemies can use to approach Saki. As the attack continues, try to direct Saki to face her foes. While Saki is attacking she will not change her direction. However, between attacks it is possible to turn her.

Due to the “start-stop-start-stop” pattern of the wave tosses, it will be difficult to get Saki to face the correct direction. To make things easier, watch the mini-map. The green triangle points in the direction Saki faces.

Saki’s Fighting Style

In general, Saki’s Fighting Style is melee centered and tends to focus on a single foe at a time. Saki is capable of delivering one hit kills to many types of foes that other characters have problems defeating.

Note: CLM – Chaotic Luster Maelstrom

Tip: This move instantly kills Mudmen and must be mastered to complete the “Zombie Piercer” Quest.

Charge: Pressing B makes Saki perform a quick sprint. Tip: This move is good for closing the gap between an enemy and Saki so she can follow up with one of her many wrestling moves.

Jumping Tackle: Press A and then press B while Saki is in the air. Saki will tackle and throw the zombie she lands on. This attack will only work on non-boss humanoid zombies.

Tip: This attack only targets one zombie at a time. It is very effective for moving zombies out of the way.

Tip: The Downward Slash is a great way to greet a small clump of zombies. Be careful, if a character is hit while jumping they will be knocked down.

Single Energy Wave: To perform this attack move the left analog stick in a Forward Half-Circle (clockwise or counter-clockwise, either will work) and then press X. When executed this move throws out a single wave from Saki’s Energy Wave Ecstasy Attack.

Tip: Saki can aim the wave by “Locking On” before throwing it. Saki can also “hold” the wave by holding down X. She cannot move while holding an Energy Wave.

Single Whirlwind Attack: To perform this attack “Lock On” with RB. Then move the left analog stick in a Backward Half-Circle (clockwise or counter-clockwise, either will work) and press X. When executed this move resembles a shortened version of Aya’s Whirlwind Ecstasy Attack.

Tip: This move strikes all foes around Saki.

Martial Arts: Saki has a large number of martial arts moves. These moves are dependent on the type of enemy she is fighting. For any of these moves to work, Saki must be standing near the enemy. Only Bird Zombies and Blood Mist Zombies are immune to these moves. All martial arts moves damage only one target.

Annna

Annna is the mysterious gun wielding officer from the ZPF. She focuses on ranged attacks. As the only one of the main characters without Baneful Blood she is not subject to Rampage Mode. This makes her essential for playing through Survival Mode. She is also the only character that can complete the “Rain of Bullets” Quest. Annna is playable in Chapter 4 and is unlocked as a selectable character once the Chapter is completed. Annna represents a good middle ground when it comes to the difficultly of completing Story Mode. Depending on the circumstances, she is either the best or worst character to use.

All of Annna’s ranged attacks deal damage based on her “Gun” stat. Annna’s “Power” is less important for her as it only effects her melee attacks. Unlike other characters Annna’s basic X attack fires a gun, so she does not gain Standard Combo attacks as her “Skill” increases. Instead Annna gains new types of attacks. Overall a beginning player using Annna should focus on increasing her “Gun” and “Vitality” stats first.

Grenade Toss Counter Stance

Unlike other characters, Annna does not lose health when using her Counter Stance (Y and B at the same time). Annna’s Counter Stance move lobs a grenade instead of making a sword attack. The attack is uninterruptible and Annna is invincible while performing the attack. The grenade deals damage in an area on impact and is capable of killing Mudmen. The only drawback to using this Counter Stance is that if Annna is caught by her own grenade she will take damage and be thrown back.

Bullet Fury Ecstasy Attack

To perform an Ecstasy Attack press X and A at the same time while the Ecstasy Meter is charged. When this attack is triggered, Annna will rapidly fire her guns, without using ammo, creating a narrow stream of bullets. Annna is invincible when performing this attack.

Annna’s Bullet Fury Ecstasy Attack is great for mowing down enemies that are lined up in a row. Annna remains stationary during this attack and cannot be turned. The bullets she fires will usually push enemies along and out of the area of the attack. To get the biggest bang out of this Ecstasy Attack it is best to “Lock On” (with RB) to the intended target and unleash the bullets at point blank range.

Annna’s Double Pistol Style

In general, Annna’s Double Pistol Style is a ranged focused style capable of dealing consistent damage over a wide area. Shots from Annna’s pistols pierce through zombies dealing damage to foes behind them. Annna’s pistols are semi-automatic so the faster the player taps X the faster they fire. The player can aim Annna’s pistols by “Locking On” with the RB.

Tip: Annna will end her charge once she strikes a foe. This move may knock some foes down.

Straight Leg Kick: This move replaces Annna’s standard Jump Kick. Press A and then Y while Annna is in the air.

Tip: This move is a great way to get Annna out of crowded situations.

Annna’s Shotgun and Uzi Style

Annna’s Shotgun and Uzi Style strikes an interesting balance. Shots from the Shotgun deal large amounts of damage up close but are very slow. Shots from the Uzi deal small amounts of damage but are very rapid. Using this style the player can fire Annna’s Shotgun by pressing X and fire her Uzi by pressing Y. The Shotgun is semi-automatic but has a slow firing rate. The Uzi is fully automatic. Holding down Y will cause it fire until its ammo is depleted. Both guns can be aimed by “Locking On” with the RB. Note that while using this style Annna cannot kick.

6. Story Mode Walk Through

Chapter 1 – The Third Zombie IncidentSelectable Characters: Aya and Saki

A horde of zombies has been unleashed on the city and it is up to the sisters to defeat them. What better place to start looking for zombies than a cemetery…

Chapter 1 Area 1Church and Graveyard

Area Walkthrough

Welcome to the first Chapter. You begin in a courtyard filled with zombies. Notice the white blade barrier that surrounds the area? That means that you are caged in. Every time you’re caged in, you will not be able to leave the area until you complete some task. Usually the task is to kill zombies. That’s the case this time. Kill all the zombies in the courtyard and the gate will fall.

Exit the courtyard to the west and follow the path until reaching the fountain. Along the way you will come across some trash cans and bottles. Breaking these will net you a few Yellow Orbs and

D3Publisher of America, Inc. Page 20

Page 21: Walkthrough Onechanbara XBox 360

Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad – Xbox 360

the occasional item. If you wish to see a Goddess Statue, though you probably will not need one at this point, follow the path to the east. Otherwise, leave the fountain area by taking the north path.

This path will take you to a large courtyard in front of a church. Before entering the courtyard, take the time to destroy the debris near the courtyard’s entrance. This should gain you at least a few more Yellow Orbs. Enter the courtyard and get ready for your first boss fight!

Chapter 1 Boss – Legion

In this fight you will face Legion and his zombie friends. Legion is not too tough as long as you stay behind him. At the beginning of the fight, Legion will be across the courtyard from you. “Lock On” to Legion with the RB and use the Dodge (A + Any Direction while “Locked On”) to close the gap and get behind him. Attack Legion from behind. Use the Dodge maneuver to stay behind him when he tries to turn and face you.

The biggest issue in this fight will probably be the zombies that spawn to help Legion. For the most part they just get in way and muck up your ability to “Lock On” to Legion. Ignore them, focus on Legion, and remember to periodically wipe your blade and you will prevail.

Chapter 2 – The Reach of EvilSelectable Characters: Aya and Saki

Aya and Saki learn that Lady Himiko is behind the zombie attacks. Yang ambushes the sisters while they interrogate Yin. Aya is knocked out and Saki is abducted.

Chapter 2 Area 1Hillside Park

Area Walkthrough

Upon entering the Chapter, dash up the stairs to the first intersection. Interested in a Rapid Gem? If so destroy the rock at end of the cul-de-sac to the west, it usually contains one. Otherwise, continue to the top of the stairway and enter the courtyard. You will be caged in. Kill all three waves of zombies and the gates will lower. If you are interested in leveling your character, attack the bicycles and bottles in the southeast corner of the courtyard. They will yield a few Yellow Orbs. Once you clear the courtyard, exit the area by taking the tunnel to the west.

Chapter 2 Area 2Flashy City

Area Walkthrough

You will find yourself in a plaza with a fountain in the center. Take note of the Goddess Statue in the alleyway to the east, you may need it if you decide to take on the Blood Mist Zombie in this area. Head to though the narrow alley to the south. As soon as you enter the alley you’ll be caged in. Lower the gates by defeating two waves of Bird Zombies. Good options for taking them out include either “Locking On” to them with Aya and skewering them with throwing knives or watching the mini-map and slicing them as they get close.

Once the gates drop, exit the alleyway to the south. You’ll find yourself standing near a large street. If you feel you are up to it, you can find a Blood Mist Zombie at the far east end of the street. It’ll take six consecutive Cool Combo hits to kill him. After he dies kill all the zombies in the Torture Chamber to collect the Power Bracelet. If you don’t feel like fighting the Blood Mist Zombie just yet, or if you already have the Power Bracelet, run across the street from the alleyway into the fenced-in, empty lot. The entrance is easy to find as there are a few zombies lying around in front of it. Once you enter the empty lot, you’ll be caged in. Defeat the two waves of zombies and you’ll notice that one of them drops a bright glowing orb. This is the first key. As keys are collected the yellow doors shown on your map screen will be unlocked.

Exit the lot the way you came in. Follow the street to the west and continue to follow it as it turns south. Enter the parking garage and get ready for the second boss fight.

Chapter 2 Boss – Yin

In this fight you will face Yin, the lowliest of Himiko’s Aides. All of the Aides have similar fighting styles so this should be good practice. “Lock On” to Yin and start pummeling him. He will soon start trying to block and counter your moves. If Yin gets you backed up into a corner he can dish out quite a bit of damage. Don’t give him the chance. If he blocks, either Thrust (Forward + X while “Locked On” with RB) or Kick (Y) to break his guard. Alternatively, you can use Dodge (A + any direction while “Locked On” with RB) to get behind him. His blocks only protect the front of his body. Remember to use Ecstasy Attacks (X + A while the meter is charged) when you can, and Yin will soon take a fall.

Chapter 3 – Hospital of the DeadSelectable Characters: Aya

Aya wakes up in a morgue feeling confused and weak from the blood she lost to Yin and Yang. A hospital should be just the place for her right now, but this hospital is crawling with zombies. Aya has to escape and find out what happened to Saki.

Chapter 3 Area 1Hospital: Stairs

Area Walkthrough

Aya wakes up in a small room filled with zombies. You will receive a message that states Aya can now switch to her Double Sword Style by pressing LT. Give it a shot. It is one of the best fighting styles in the game. Clear the room of zombies and you will be rewarded with more of the story.

It seems that when Yin and Yang took blood from Aya they got more than just a sample. If you go to the Status Screen (D-pad Down) you will notice that Aya has lost a whopping ten levels. This can make the coming fight a little difficult.

Exit the room and run to the door at the north end of the hallway. Did you notice that the hallways are crowded with zombies? You don’t have to kill every zombie you come across, so save your strength for the caged in battles. Enter the door at the north end of the hallway. Did I mention caged in battles? Well you’re now in one. Kill the waves of zombies and the last one will drop a key. Take the key and you will be free to leave the room.

If you would like to fight a few more zombies enter the room on the east side of the hallway. Otherwise, follow the hall south and run up the stairs to the east. Enter the door at the top of the stairs and you are done with this area.

Chapter 3 Area 2Hospital: East Block

Area Walkthrough

As you enter this area take note of the bars to north. This is actually a door. You’ll be going through it later, but first you will need a key. Follow the hallway south until you reach the T-intersection. Take the branch that leads east and enter the door at the east end of the hall. This room contains zombies and boxes. Ignore the zombies and break the boxes, one of them contains a key. Take the key and head back to the bars at the area’s entrance.

Use the key to go through the bars. There are three doors in this section of the hall. The one to the west contains some breakable items that will give you Yellow Orbs. The one to east leads to a Blood Mist Zombie. This Blood Mist Zombie takes seven consecutive Cool Combo hits to kill. Clear his Torture Chamber and you will receive the Sparkling Sword Bracelet. The door to the north leads to a caged in fight and an encounter with Mudmen.

You will need to defeat all of the Mudmen in order to collect the key and leave this room. The Mudmen are shy and will not make an appearance until you kill a few zombies. Once the Mudmen

D3Publisher of America, Inc. Page 23

Page 24: Walkthrough Onechanbara XBox 360

Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad – Xbox 360

show themselves, slay them. This is a tricky proposition. Mudmen cannot be killed with normal attacks. To beat the Mudmen attack them with the Counter Stance (Y + B) or put away your second sword and use the Hand Thrust (X, X, X, Pause half a second, Any Direction + X). Alternatively, you could attack the Mudmen and collect Red Orbs until Aya enters Rampage Mode. Keep an eye on Aya’s life though, and use a Cure Gem if necessary. Remember that you can use a Goddess Statue Fragment to take Aya out of Rampage mode if you need to, but keep in mind that there are more Mudmen left to fight in this Chapter.

Once you have killed the Mudmen and collected the key, leave the room and head south towards the bars. Go back through the bars and south to the T-intersection. This time take the west branch of the “T” and head to door at the end of the hall. If you’d like enter room on the south side of the hall. It contains several breakable objects that contain Yellow Orbs. Once you’re done, exit the area by using the door at the west end of the hall.

Chapter 3 Area 3Hospital: West Block

Area Walkthrough

To clear this Chapter, run west down the hallway and turn north at the pillars. Run north through the waiting room to the glass double doors that serve as the entrance to the hospital. Just before you reach the doors you will be caged in. In this fight you will face lots of Mudmen and zombies in a small, cramped space. Use Ecstasy Attacks, Counter Stance moves, and Hand Thrusts as necessary. You do not have to defeat all of the zombies, but you must kill all of the Mudmen. After the gate drops, run for the door again and this Chapter will end.

If you wish to explore some more before running for the door there are rooms on the north and

south sides of the hall, near the entrance to this area, that usually contain zombies. The room at the west end of hall contains more Mudmen and finally, right before you exit the Chapter, there is a room to the south of the glass double doors. This room contains a few breakable items.

Chapter 4 – A Mysterious Woman Selectable Characters: Saki

While Aya fights her way out of the hospital Saki is saved by the mysterious Annna. Working together, Saki and Annna aim to rid the streets of zombies. Chapter 4 Area 1Station Square

Area Walkthrough

Note that while only Saki was selectable for this Chapter you now have Annna as your inactive character. Just like her big sister, Saki has lost ten levels since her abduction. You begin in a zombie infested plaza. It is not necessary to kill any of the zombies in this area. Run past them to the west exit of the plaza. Follow the street north and enter the tunnel.

Chapter 4 Area 2Lower Connection Passage

Area Walkthrough

Run down the tunnel and you will be caged in. In this fight you only have the kill the Mudmen. Remember that Annna can throw grenades by using her Counter Stance (Y + B) to take them out. After the gates drop, continue to the end of the tunnel and exit it.

Chapter 4 Area 3Flashy City

Area Walkthrough

This area should look familiar. It was the second area in Chapter 2. This time, run west down the street. Stop in front of the alleyway. If you are not interested in killing a Blood Mist Zombie, then skip ahead to Chapter 4 Area 5. If you are interested in killing a Blood Mist Zombie run down the street to its west end and follow it as it turns south. Enter the parking garage.

Chapter 4 Area 4Underground Parking

Area Walkthrough

Run to the northwest corner of the parking garage. The Blood Mist Zombie there will take eight consecutive Cool Combo hits to kill. Clean out his Torture Chamber and you will receive the Splatter Control Bracelet. Once you acquire the bracelet backtrack to the alleyway where you stopped in the previous area.

Chapter 4 Area 5Flashy City

Area Walkthrough

Turn north into the alleyway. Enter the plaza with the fountain in the center. You will be caged in. Wipe out the waves of zombies and last one will drop a key. Take the key and exit the plaza by backtracking though the alley at the south exit. Return to the street. Follow the street to the west but do not turn south towards the parking garage. Instead, enter the small door in the gate at the west end of the street.

Chapter 4 Boss – Two Legions

In this fight you will face two Legions with a good bit of space between them. This can be problematic since one Legion can attack you while you stand behind the other Legion. This solution is Annna. Using Annna, walk around both Legions in a wide oval. “Lock On” to the nearest Legion and fire your pistols as you go. Don’t forget to reload. Use Annna’s slow walking pace to keep in the blind spot of both Legions. The Legions will either continuously attempt turn and face you or attack areas where you are not. Be sure to Dodge if it looks like they are going to catch you, and use Annna’s Bullet Fury Ecstasy Attack (X + A when the meter is charged) when the Legions are lined up. Remember that Annna’s bullets travel through enemies and this fight should be rather easy.

Chapter 5 – Flight and Fight Motorcycle ControlsSelectable Characters: Aya

Aya sees explosions in the distance and assumes that it is probably Saki causing a ruckus. Charging to the rescue, Aya leaps on a motorcycle zooms through the city. This Chapter is unique. To complete Chapter 5 simply drive the motorcycle north, running over zombies. The motorcycle has its own set of controls. Aya deals more damage to zombies when popping a wheelie. Use the LT and RT if you become stuck on a wall. The U-Turn is great for taking out an entire mob of zombies. However, there are more than just zombies to worry about.

The Hound Zombies will chase you but you can attack them with your sword or run them over with the motorcycle. The Hound Zombies will follow you in a straight line, so you can even run them into the walls by swerving back and forth. Be careful not to run into the walls yourself though. It is easy to get stuck and surrounded. Remember that you can still use items, so use a Cure Gem if Aya’s health gets low or a Rapid Gem if she needs a boost of speed.

Chapter 6 – Reunion (and a Meeting with a New Foe)Selectable Characters: Any two.

A lot happens in this Chapter. Aya and Saki are finally reunited. Annna is revealed to be a member of the ZPF and the trio learns that there is yet another person seeking the Baneful Blood of the sisters: Misery.

Chapter 6 Area 1Flashy City

garage. This time you are caged in with a mixed group of zombies and some Mudmen. Kill all the zombies and Mudmen and the gate will fall. Enter the small door at north end of the garage and it’s on to Sewers.

Chapter 6 Area 3Sewer System

Area Walkthrough

Welcome to the Sewers. Let me remind you that you do not have to kill every zombie you come across. In the Sewers it is easy to get mobbed by swarms of Beast Zombies. Your best option is to run from them. They are not very good at chasing you and you can escape while taking minimal damage. If you must pick off Beast Zombies, Annna’s pistols are quite handy for the job. Just remember to “Lock On” using RB to aim them.

The corridors of the Sewers are narrow and confusing, so consult your Map (left on the D-Pad) when in doubt. Your first goal is to collect a key. It is located in the large room on the west side of the Map. Get there by following the corridor north. When you come to the fence at the end of hall, turn west. Follow the tunnel as it turns to the south.

Enter the large room and you will be caged in. In this fight, concentrate on killing the Mudmen. Eventually one will drop the key. Grab the key and the gates will drop. Your next goal is to delve deeper into the Sewers and find another key. It is located in a large room to the north.

To get there, backtrack through the tunnel to the fence. See that door on the other side of fence? That is were you need to go. Turn south and walk down the hall. Go around the fence by using the first east passage you come to. Enter the door and you will find yourself in another hall. Across the hall, and a little to the east, is a short passage. Enter the room through this passage.

You will be caged in again. Just as last time, concentrate on killing the Mudmen and one will drop a key. This time though, you may need to kill a few more zombies before the gates drop. Once you are released, your next goal is the north-most door on the map.

To get there, exit the room through its north passage and enter the hall. If you need to end your Rampage Mode, just to the east is a dead-end corridor that contains a Goddess Statue. Otherwise follow this hall to the west. The hall will turn south, follow it, and turn west at the first available chance. Follow this corridor north and enter the door at its end. Once past the door, head north and turn east following the corridor. Run to second door enter it. Phew! You’re out of the Sewers.

Chapter 6 Area 4Subway Entrance

Area Walkthrough

It’s nice to be out of the Sewers. Walk to the north end of the hall and you will be caged in. Kill all the zombies. Once the gates drop, start heading up the stairs to the east. Halfway up the stairs there is a little corridor offshoot that leads to a room with a Blood Mist Zombie. It takes nine Cool Combo hits to kill this Blood Mist Zombie. Once his Torture Chamber is cleared, you will be rewarded with the Piercing Bracelet. If you don’t feel like killing a Blood Mist Zombie or if you already have the Splatter Control Bracelet then continue to top of the stairs and walk into the large circular room. It’s time to meet Misery.

Chapter 6 Boss – Misery

Fighting Misery can be tough. In this first fight with Misery, most of her attacks are thrown out in a straight line in front of her. She will toss out energy waves and pummel you with her wicked looking sword from a distance if given a chance.

If using one of the sisters, get close and stay close to Misery by “Locking On” and Dodging. Try attacking her from the side. Using Aya’s Jump Attack or Double Sword Jump Attack in a box shaped pattern around her also works. It is best not to go toe-to-toe with Misery unless you are in Rampage Mode.

Using Annna works rather well in this fight. As Annna, keep your distance and walk around Misery in a wide circle while shooting her. Move out of her line of attack before reloading and Dodge when necessary. Keep in mind that Misery is unable to block bullets.

Selectable Characters: Any two.

Himiko orders her Aides to flood the city with even more zombies. Aya, Saki, and Annna get to work killing them off, but an old friend returns, at the request of Himiko, to ruin Aya’s day: Reiko. Chapter 7 Area 1City District

Area Walkthrough

You begin in a courtyard. Run forward and you will be caged in. Kill off the two waves of mixed zombies and the gates will fall. Go to the northeast corner of the map and you will find two doors. One is the entrance to a parking garage and the other is covered by a gate. Make note of the doorway that is covered with a gate. It has a light blue threshold. You’ll be coming back to this door soon. Check out the alleyway for some breakable objects. When you’re ready, duck into the parking garage.

Chapter 7 Area 2Underground Parking Exit

Area Walkthrough

As you walk into the parking garage you will be caged in. Kill zombies until the Mudmen make an appearance. Then turn your focus on the Mudmen. Kill all of them and one will drop a key. Grab the key and the gates will drop. Out next goal is that gate covered door you noted earlier; however, if you would like to kill a Blood Mist Zombie go through the small door in the back of the parking garage. This door will lead to a small room that contains a Blood Mist Zombie that takes ten consecutive Cool Combo hits to kill. After you clear his Torture Chamber you will receive the Item Bracelet. Once you have the Item Bracelet or if you don’t want to kill a Blood Mist Zombie exit the parking garage and enter the gate covered doorway.

Welcome back to the Sewers. This time the goal is to collect the third sewer key. The key is not in the Sewers, but to get to the key you will need to pass through the Sewers. You need to get to the east-most door in the sewers. Follow the corridor south to a door. Enter the door and follow the corridor until you come to a T-intersection. Take the south branch and follow it until you come to another T-intersection. Take the west branch and enter the door at the end of the hall. Follow this corridor and you will find an exit from the Sewers.

Chapter 7 Area 5Station Square

Chapter 7 Boss – Reiko

Regardless of which characters you used to navigate Chapter 7 you must fight Reiko with Aya. Reiko is a three stage boss. Her first stage is just a vanilla fight between Reiko and Aya. In her second stage, she will call in clones to help fight Aya. In her final stage she goes into Rampage Mode. Keep these stages in mind as you fight Reiko. Ration out your Cure Gems accordingly.

In Reiko’s first stage, she will fire slugs from her shotgun when she is at

a distance. Her gun makes a distinctive cocking sound before firing. Use this to your advantage and Dodge. Up close, Reiko will attack Aya with a vicious slap and sword combo. This combo can deal quite a bit of damage if

she pushes Aya against a wall. Counter this by not going toe-to-toe with Reiko unless Aya is in Rampage Mode. Instead, Dodge around Reiko and strike her from the sides. Using Aya’s Jump Attack or Double Sword Jump Attack in a box shaped pattern around her also works. Try to save Cure Gems for the next round with Reiko.

After Reiko is beaten for the first time, she will call in the clones. Reiko’s clones look and fight just like Reiko; however, they do not carry guns and they have less vitality than the real Reiko. Fighting Reiko and her clones is the toughest part of this battle. The clones will swarm you.

If Aya has enough “Power” she may be able to kill the clones in one or two hits. If this is the case, try killing the clones. Each clone killed will drop either an item or a large Yellow Orb. Regardless of what Reiko might say, her clones are endless. Eventually they will stop spawning.

If Aya cannot kill the clones fast enough, you will need a different approach. Watch the mini-map, the real Reiko is usually the only one that is moving away from Aya. Likewise, watch for shotgun shots, only the real Reiko carries a gun. Remember to use your items. Bloody Lumps are great, as being in Rampage Mode will make this battle a lot easier. If you have one, try using a Mystic Necklace, it will make you temporarily immune to the clones’ attacks. Using a Rapid Gem can allow you to outmaneuver the clones and get closer to Reiko. A Power Gem might give you just enough of a damage boost to turn the tide.

If you manage to get around the clones and damage Reiko until she drops to about one third of her vitality, she will enter her next stage. When entering Reiko’s final stage all of her clones will drop dead. Reiko will enter Rampage Mode and her attacks will change. Reiko will now perform lots of melee attacks. She will also toss out clouds of Blood Mist and flood the floor with blood. Keep on her, after taking on her clones, this will seem like a cakewalk. She will still only have one third of her life. Chip this away and she’s finished.

Chapter 8 – Two Men

Selectable Characters: Saki and Annna

While Aya is battling Reiko, Annna and Saki decide to go on a zombie killing rampage. After mopping up most of the zombies in the area they run into two of Himiko’s Aides: Yang and Flegge.

Chapter 8 Area 1Wharf Storage

Area Walkthrough

You begin in an empty square. Run forward and you will be caged in. Mow down all the zombies and the gates will drop. Move to the northeast corner of the map and you will be caged in again. Kill all the zombies and you will receive a message stating that your character feels that they have killed all of the zombies in the area. Exit the area by entering the street in the northwest corner of the map.

Chapter 8 Boss – Yang and Flegge

Yang and Flegge are Aides. They fight just like Yin from Chapter 2. This means that they will block and counter most frontal attacks. To take them out, you will have to either break their guard or attack them from behind. Be careful not to get trapped between the two them.

Since you have Annna, the easiest way to defeat Yang and Flegge is to simply walk in a circle around them firing your pistols. Remember to “Lock On.” They will

block your pistol shots but they will not turn to face you as they continue blocking. To keep them on the defensive, slow down your rate of fire. Once you maneuver behind one of them, fire all of your remaining shots as quickly as possible. To reload, run as far away from them as possible. Watch out, though. They will try to close the gap with you by sliding along the ground. Note that you can shoot them while they slide.

If you must fight them with Saki, try keep them far away from each other. Otherwise they will team up on you. Remember to Dodge around them and strike from the sides. Don't go for a frontal assault unless Saki is in Rampage Mode.

Chapter 9 Area 1Sewer System

Area Walkthrough

Now that her battle with Reiko is over, Aya needs to catch up with Saki and Annna. You begin on the train platform from Chapter 7. The first order of business is to get out of the Sewers. Your goal is the door in the southwest corner of the map. Jump off the platform and follow the corridor north. Take the west passage into the large room and you will be caged in. Defeat all the zombies and the gates will drop. Take the south passage exit from the room. Follow the corridor until you come to the ledge. Jump down the ledge to the Sewers below. Follow this corridor until it ends in a T-intersection. Take the south branch and follow it until reaching the door at the end of the hall. Enter the door to exit the Sewers.

Chapter 9 Boss – David

In this fight you will have to face David with Aya and Saki. David is Annna’s brother. He was kidnapped by Himiko’s Organization and turned into her zombie Aide. David exists only to serve Himiko. He has lost the memories of his former life.

Don’t expect any mercy from David. His fighting style is similar to that of the other Aides, but David has a few more tricks up his sleeves. He hits harder than other Aides and his combos are longer. Additionally, if you get him down to half his vitality, then he will start teleporting and throwing out energy waves.

Attack David from the side by Dodging or use Aya’s Double Sword Jump Attack. Keep moving. If you stay in one place too long, David will move in with one of his devastating combos. You can make a frontal assault on David while in Rampage Mode, but watch your vitality. Remember that you also take double damage while in

Rampage Mode.

David will usually teleport right behind you and immediately go into one of his combos. He makes a distinctive sound when he teleports. Whenever you hear that sound, Dodge. This will get you out of the way and set you up for a Counter Attack. If David stands still and raises a fist into the air, be warned that he is about to throw an energy wave. Do not stand in the direction he is facing while he does this. Using Dodge, you can maneuver behind him while he throws energy wave. Keep on him and he will soon fall.

Chapter 10 Area 6Airship Port Side: Upper Level

Area Walkthrough

You are now on the port side of the aircraft. These areas will look similar to the ones you just ran through but there are some slight differences. Your first goal is to collect a key. It is located in the northwest corner of the map. Run north down the hall, past the first intersection. Continue north until you come across two small doors flanking the hall. The one to the east is locked and the oneto the west is wide open. Make note of the locked door, you will be returning here in just a moment.

Chapter 10 Area 8Airship Port Side: Lower Level

Your next goal is the large room on the south side of the map.

If you are interested in killing a Blood Mist Zombie there is one nearby. From the area entrance, head east into the dark, seemingly empty area. Walk near the far, east wall of this room and the Blood Mist Zombie will spawn. It takes twelve consecutive Cool Combo hits to kill him, so you must use Aya’s Double Sword Style. Once his Torture Chamber is clear, you will receive the Special Skill Bracelet.

To continue through the Chapter, take the north exit from the room. Take the east exit from the next room and follow the large hallway south and then to the east. Enter the next hall and follow it to the south until you come to the stairs. Do not go up the stairs just yet. Instead, go into the room to the south under the stairs. Break the boxes in the room and grab the key. Then go up the stairs.

Chapter 10 Area 9Airship Port Side: Central Area

Area Walkthrough

Soon as you enter this area turn to the south and enter the door on the stairway landing. The door takes you to a room that is packed with zombies. Cut your way to the boxes in the south east corner. Break them and take the key.

Exit the room and run straight up the hall to the north. The hall splits into two halls that run parallel to each other. It does not matter which one you take, your goal is the wooden double doors at the far, north end of the hall. Enter the doors and this Chapter is clear.

Chapter 11 – Guardian of the Lonely Isle

Selectable Characters: Any two.

Chapter 11 Boss – Olga

This Chapter is one long boss fight. Olga is a zombified killer whale that jumps in and out of the water to bite at the girls. She also occasionally beaches herself on the bridge. While beached, Olga has three basic attacks. She charges forward to bite, she spins around to slap with her tail, and she throws up a baby killer whale attached to a bit of her intestines. The baby killer whale will grab a hold of you and beat you senseless if you get too close to it.

The easy way to beat Olga is by using Annna. Have Annna stand as close as she can to the south side of the bridge. There is a small spot where Annna can remain without being hit. Now watch the mini-map. When Olga jumps out of the water “Lock On” to her with RB and shoot her with your pistols. Do not move from your safe spot. Readjust your position and reload as needed. In time, you will prevail. Annna can also hit Olga while she is in the water by tossing grenades at her. It is difficult to aim the grenades, but killing the whale with grenades is possible.

If you are up for a bit of a challenge, you can try to beat Olga using Aya or Saki. The best way to do this is to run back and forth across the bridge. Olga will have a hard time hitting the sisters while they are running. Wait for Olga to beach herself and then strike. Deal as much damage to her as possible and she will soon return to the water. With precise timing, Saki and Aya can hit Olga just has she leaps over them.

Either way you play the battle it can take some time to beat Olga. If you are attempting to complete the “Swift and Beautiful Death” Quest, fight Olga on Easy difficulty and enter Rampage Mode by using two Bloody Lumps. You should be able to kill Olga within the first few seconds of the fight.

Chapter 12 Area 2Solitary Isle

Area Walkthrough

With two one-way ledges to jump down, you need to move through this area in a large clockwise circle. Follow the path to the west and you will be caged in. Kill all the zombies and you will be free to continue along the path to the west. Continue following the path up the hill to pool of water being feed by a waterfall. Run to the far, east side of this area and jump off of the ledge. You will fall into a small area with a ruined column and be caged in. Kill all the zombies in this area and the last one will drop a key.

Jump off of the southeast ledge and follow the path again in a clockwise fashion. If you would like to kill a Blood Mist Zombie, go back along the path to where you first entered the area. This Blood Mist Zombie takes thirteen consecutive Cool Combo hits to kill, so you’ll have to use Aya’s Double Sword Style. By clearing out his Torture Chamber, you will receive the Bullet Bracelet. Note that Blood Mist Zombie will only appear after you collect the key.

Otherwise, continue along the path until you reach the waterfall once more. You will be caged in. Kill all of the zombies and the Chapter will clear.

To continue progressing through the Chapter, take the south branch and follow it to the small room. You will be caged in. Kill all of the zombies in the room and exit the room using the south tunnel. Follow the south tunnel until it stops at the second intersection. Take the south branch of the “T” and run to the center of the large room. You will be caged in. Defeat all of the zombies to clear the chapter.

Chapter 14 – Endless Propagation

Selectable Characters: Annna

Aya, Saki, and Annna are swallowed by a pit trap and end up in three different parts of the complex. In this Chapter you follow Annna’s route as she fights her way past the Reiko clones to join up with the sisters. Chapter 14 Area 1Reasearch Facility: Lower Passage

Area Walkthrough

This Chapter consists of Annna facing lots of zombies in very tight hallways. To keep Annna alive: run. Do not engage any zombies you can avoid. Use Annna’s Straight Leg Kick (A and then Y while Annna is in the air) to get past any zombies in your way.

You start in room with some breakable boxes. Go ahead and destroy the boxes. They sometimes contain useful items. Exit the room and follow the hallway to the first intersection. Take the north branch and follow it north. This hall ends in a T-intersection. Take the east branch. Follow the hall east until you come across some rocks. The rocks will be on the north side of the hall. Break them with a kick and collect the key.

D3Publisher of America, Inc. Page 42

Page 43: Walkthrough Onechanbara XBox 360

Now you need to get to the room with two pillars in it. Back-track west and then south down the hall. Run south down the hall until it dead ends at a T-intersection and take the east branch. Enter the door at the end of the hall and you will be greeted by a small army of Reiko clones.

You must defeat all of the clones to progress. Try running from one end of the room to another, shooting the clones as you go. Do not let them swarm you. Pay attention to the mini-map and wait until you can hide behind a pillar before reloading. Be patient and keep moving. Try to avoid using your Ecstasy Attack as the clones can easily surround you if you are not moving. The last clone will drop a key once she is dead.

Grab the key and head back out the door. Your goal is now the door in the northeast corner of the map. Follow the hall and turn north. Run to the end of the hall and turn east. Pass through the door and the Chapter will clear.

Chapter 15 – Searching for Saki

Selectable Characters: Saki

This Chapter follows Saki’s journey to be reunited with her sister and Annna. Chapter 15 Area 1Reasearch Facility: Command Center

Area Walkthrough

In this Chapter Saki will have to face two Legions in a small enclosed space. This fight is tough. You may want revisit other Chapters to stock up on items or level up Saki before taking on the Legions.

Try to ignore and run past the zombies in this Chapter. You will need all of your vitality for the main event. Run north to the T-intersection. Take the east branch and follow it. It will turn north and then turn west. As you come around the west turn you will be caged in. You will have to defeat two Legions in order to continue.

The biggest problem here is the lack of space. “Lock On” with the RB as soon as the battle begins and Dodge roll up (by pressing A and any direction while “Locked On”) to the Legions to close the gap. Try to get behind the Legions, but do not get between a Legion and a gate. The Legion will pin you against the wall and make short work of you. The area is longer than it is wide so stick to long portions.

Try to keep both Legions facing in the same direction and use hit-and-run tactics. To do this Dodge roll until you are behind the Legions. Attack until one of the Legions starts to turn to face you. Then Dodge roll away from the Legions. Continue to Dodge roll around in the empty space until both of them face you and then Dodge roll back up to them. Dodge roll behind them again and repeat the

process. Remember, if you enter Clear Sight Mode (that’s when the game goes into slow motion while Dodging) press X to cause a Counter Attack.

Use Bloody Lumps if you have any. The speed and power of Rampage Mode will be really useful in this fight. Use Rapid Gems to give yourself more speed for Dodging. A Mystic Necklace will make you temporarily invincible and be sure to use Cure Gems when you're low on vitality. Once one of the Legions dies, the other should be rather easy to finish off. Just remember to keep behind the Legion as you attack.

After the fight is over, exit the area using the south tunnel. Follow the tunnel as it turns to the west. Walk to the center of the room and the Chapter will clear.

Chapter 16 – Clash of Baneful Blood

Selectable Characters: Aya

This Chapter follows Aya as she battles Misery on her way to rejoin Saki and Annna. Chapter 16 Area 1Reasearch Facility: Command Center

Area Walkthrough

In this Chapter you will have to face Misery once again. Ration your items accordingly. The room you begin in has a rock in its southwest corner. You can destroy the rock to reveal a Goddess Statue.

Take the tunnel to the south and follow it to the metal gate. Destroy the gate with a sword slash and walk into the room. You will be caged in. Kill all the zombies in the area and one will drop a key. Grab the key and the gates will drop.

If you are interested in killing a Blood Mist Zombie, exit the room using the west tunnel. Follow the tunnel to the locked door. The Blood Mist Zombie there will take fifteen consecutive Cool Combo hits to kill. Aya will have to use both swords to kill him. You will receive the Red Orb Bracelet if you clear his Torture Chamber. However, even if you don’t want to kill him you can still use him to send Aya into Rampage Mode. Attack him normally and your Splatter Gauge will rise.

To continue with the Chapter, return to the starting room with the Goddess Statue. Exit the room to the north. Follow the tunnel and enter the water filled room. Misery will come out for round two. Misery fights much as she did in Chapter 6 but she should give you less trouble. Simply go head-to-head with her in Rampage Mode and she should quickly fall. Watch your vitality though, and remember that you take double damage in Rampage Mode. After Misery is defeated, she drops a key. Grab it and head for the Goddess Statue. This time take the east branch from the starting room and follow it to the door. Enter the door and the Chapter will clear.

Chapter 17 – A Sad Parting

Selectable Characters: Any two.

Reunited once again, our trio delves deeper into Himiko’s underground base. Aya, Saki, and Annna have their final face-off with the Yin, Yang, Flegge, and Annna’s brother: David. Chapter 17 Area 1Reasearch Facility: Command Center

Area Walkthrough

This Chapter picks up in the area where the last three left off. First things first, you need a key that is hidden near the beginning of the Chapter. Take the narrow tunnel to the south of the starting room. Destroy the rocks that block your way and make your way to the dead end. Break the rock there and take the key. Work your way back to the starting room.

If you are interested in killing a Blood Mist Zombie, exit the starting room to the north. Follow the tunnel as it turns to west and enter the room. This area should look familiar: this is the starting room from Chapter 16. Take the north exit from this room and head towards the water filled room you fought Misery in. Go to the back northwest corner of the room and the Blood Mist Zombie will spawn. It will take sixteen consecutive Cool Combo hits to kill, so use Aya’s Double Sword Style. Once his Torture Chamber is emptied of zombies, you will receive the Shield Bracelet. Then return to the starting room for Chapter 17.

Once you are ready to continue, take the tunnel to the east. Follow it as it turns north and you will be caged in as you enter a small room. Start killing zombies. Once you have killed enough of them, the gates will fall. Exit the room using the east tunnel. Follow the tunnel as it turns south. Continue to follow it as it turns west, but turn south as soon as possible. As you enter the room you will be caged in again. Kill all the zombies and you will be free to leave via the west door and enter the next area.

Chapter 17 Boss – The Aides

In this two stage boss fight you will face Yin, Yang, and Flegge at the same time and then have a final showdown with David.

The Aides use the same tactics as before, but this time there are three of them. As long as you do not charge into the middle of the three, this should be a rather easy fight. As Aya or Saki use Dodge to out maneuver the three men in black and break one off from the group. Use your favorite anti-Aide tactics on the isolated one and then pick off the other two. Do not let them surround you or they will combo you back and forth between them. As Annna this fight is even easier. Just “Lock On” and walk in circles around the Aides. Slowly fire your guns to pin them in place. Once you are behind them, fire your guns as fast as you can. When reloading, run to one of the far corners of the room.

Fighting David can be a bit trickier. David is even stronger than before, but you should be able to defeat him using the same tactics as last time as all his moves are the same. Ironically, Annna is the best character to use against David. Shoot him like you would any other Aide until half his life is gone, then watch out for his teleports and energy waves. Dodge roll away when he teleports and keep out of the way as he throws his energy waves. You can shoot him as he poses before and after his attacks.

Chapter 18 – The Final Path

Selectable Characters: Any two.

David dies in Annna’s arms. He seemed to remember his sister right before the end. Eager to put an end to Himiko’s evil, our heroines venture deeper into the base.

Chapter 18 Area 1Reasearch Facility: Lower Passage

Area Walkthrough

In this Chapter you will be fighting a ton of zombies, so save your items and avoid as many fights as possible. You begin in the area where the boss fight occurred in Chapter 17. The first order of business is to collect your prize from the Aides: a key that will lead to Himiko. The key is located in some boxes on the south side of the starting room. Collect the key and take the room’s west exit.

Follow the hallway as it turns north and then east. Enter the door at the end of the hall. The door leads to another hall. Follow it east to the T-intersection. Take the north branch and follow it to the next T-intersection. Take the east branch and follow it to the door at the end of the hall. Enter the door to proceed to the next area.

Chapter 18 Area 2Reasearch Facility: Command Center

Area Walkthrough

As soon as you enter this area you will be caged in. Slay all of the Mudmen and the gates will drop. After the fight, if you wish to kill a Blood Mist Zombie enter the narrow tunnel to the south and follow it to its end. It will take seventeen Cool Combo hits to kill the zombie so you must use Aya’s Double Sword Style and have her “Skill” bar completely full. If you clean out the zombie’s Torture Chamber then you will receive the Ecstasy-In-Pain Bracelet.

Otherwise exit through the door to the north. Your next goal is the west-most door on the map. Follow the hall to the north and then to the west as it turns. You will come to a large room, take the south tunnel. Follow the tunnel as it turns west and expands into a room. Cross the room to the west exit. Follow the hall as it turns south and then west again. Exit the area through the western door.

Chapter 18 Area 3Reasearch Facility: Central Area

Area Walkthrough

In this area your first goal is the southern room. Follow the hall as it turns south and continue to follow it until the ground slopes down and the hall becomes a large room. Walk to the center of the room and you will be caged in. Start killing zombies. Focus on the zombies lying on the ground. Try using Foot Sweeps (use RB to “Lock On,” press Back on the left analog stick, and press Y) to hit them. Keep clearing zombies and one of them will drop a key. Collect the key and the gates will drop.

Your next goal is the north-most room on the map. Run back up the ramp to the north and turn west at the first intersection. Run down the hall and turn north at the second intersection. Follow the hall north into the small rectangular room. Exit the room to the east. Follow this hallway north and turn west at the first intersection. Follow the hall to the west and take the door to the north.

From the door, follow the hall as it turns east and run into the small room. Take the north exit from the small room and run into the large room at the end of the corridor. You will be caged in. You must defeat several waves of zombies in this room. Use Ecstasy Attacks as often as possible. Zombies with ranged attacks, like Zombie Cops and Murders, will spawn along the edges of the room. Concentrate on killing those first. Rampage Mode is useful here and remember to use items, such as Cure Gems, as the zombies drop replacements for you. Once all of the zombies are dead, the gates will drop. Exit to the west and follow the hall to the door at its end. Enter the door to clear this Chapter.

Chapter 19 – Evil’s Source

Selectable Characters: Any two.

The aged Himiko awaits our trio on her dark throne… and just when Saki, Aya, and Annna think they have her defeated, Himiko drinks a vial of Saki’s Baneful Blood and transforms into her younger, more powerful self.

Chapter 19 Boss – Himiko

Himiko is a three stage boss. In her older form, Himiko is powerful but immobile. In her younger form, she is a blood wielding force of destruction. When things look desperate for her, she will fly into the air and summon minions in a bid to finish you off.

Himiko starts as a withered old crone. She has three basic attacks: throws out a vertical energy wave made of blood, she throws out a short range Blood Mist cloud, and she summons a huge hand made of blood that grapples and squeezes. She will usually throw the blood energy wave when you are distant. To avoid the blood energy wave either duck behind one of the many columns in the room or

Dodge while “Locked On” to Himiko. She will throw the Blood Mist cloud when you engage her at close range. Avoid the cloud by Dodge rolling to the other side of Himiko. She will summon the hand whenever you stop moving. With precise timing you can Dodge the hand, but it is easiest to avoid it by staying in constant motion.

With the sisters, defeat the older version of Himiko by getting close, attacking her from multiple angles, and by using Ecstasy Attacks as often as possible. To get close, use the many pillars in the room as cover and charge her using dodge. Change your angle of attack often by rolling or jumping around her as much as possible. This keeps her from targeting you with attacks.

Using Annna can make fighting the older version of Himiko a lot simpler. The older Himiko will not move and is an easy target for Annna’s bullets. “Lock On” to Himiko with Annna and start firing. Keep in constant motion by walking and Himiko’s hands of blood cannot reach you. When Himiko throws out a blood energy wave have Annna Dodge roll to the left or right. Do not get close to the old lady and reload while hiding behind pillars. Be sure to Dodge as soon as the reload is finished, a blood hand will probably be waiting for you.

After her transformation Himiko is buxom young woman. Don’t let her cute girlish laughs fool you, though. She is still evil and now her eldritch blood powers are stronger than before. No longer is she immobile. She will now charge and dance around the battlefield. In addition to her previous attacks, she will now form swords made of blood and take the fight to you directly. She will also flood the floor with blood, throw her blades through the air, and send out explosive shockwaves of force.

At this point using Annna is mostly futile. Himiko will simply close the gap with the ZPF officer and make short work of her. Instead try

D3Publisher of America, Inc. Page 48

Page 49: Walkthrough Onechanbara XBox 360

Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad – Xbox 360

using one of the sisters. Dodge or run out of Himiko’s way when she charges. Use Aya’s Double Sword Jump attack or Saki’s Backstab. Try to stay away from her front and attack her from the side.

When she falls to about one third of her vitality, Himiko will rise into the air and begin flying over the battlefield. At the same time she will summon her dreaded Blood Mist Dolls. These dolls look a lot like Blood Mist Zombies, however they are really low vitality clones of Yin, Yang, Flegge, David, and Reiko. The Blood Mist Dolls will try to swarm you. Defeat them by breaking up the group. Run in and out of the pillars to slow them down and pick them off one at a time. Thankfully the Reiko Doll does not have a gun but the David Doll can teleport and throw energy wave.

A good alternative to fighting the Blood Mist Dolls is going after Himiko. Himiko can be harmed while in the air. Annna can shoot Himiko and if Aya’s “Reach” is high she can strike Himiko with her Double Swords Jump Attack. If the Dolls are destroyed, Himiko will land and fight for a few seconds. Thereafter she will then re-summon the Dolls and fly back up into the air. This cycle will continue until Himiko is dead.

Chapter 20 – Cutting the Serpent’s Head Selectable Characters: Any two.

With Himiko dead it seems that the day is won for Aya, Saki, and Annna but, on their way out of Himiko’s base, they are ambushed by an old foe…

Chapter 20 Boss – Misery

Misery is seething with an overdose of Baneful Blood. It appears that she drank the corpses of Himiko and her Aides dry and now she wants the sisters for dessert. This is easily the toughest fight in the game. This fight takes place in a small area and Misery’s starting position is random relative to your own. She could even start behind you.

Misery is in Rampage Mode. She can take even level one hundred characters down in just a few swipes of her sword and her energy waves will now home-in on you, making them almost impossible to Dodge. Even the playing field by going into Rampage Mode yourself. Use two Bloody Lumps, a Rapid Gem, and a Power Gem. While Rampaging, try attacking Misery with a combo. The Standard Combo will do, but Chaotic Luster Maelstrom is better. Of course, the Cool Combo is best. Use your Ecstasy Attack as often as possible, you will be invincible while it executes. Pay attention to your vitality. Remember that your character will take double damage in

Rampage Mode.

If you must fight Misery without Rampage Mode, then remember to Dodge, Dodge, Dodge, and Dodge. Counter Attacks delivered while in Clear Sight Mode will deal lots of damage to Misery and charge your Ecstasy Meter. You can activate your Ecstasy Attack while you finish your Dodge and

D3Publisher of America, Inc. Page 49

Page 50: Walkthrough Onechanbara XBox 360

Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad – Xbox 360

your character will attack as soon as she finishes her roll. Misery’s attacks will knock-back and knock down characters that are not in Rampage Mode. Attack her from behind and from the sides. Do not go head-to-head with her, she will combo you into the wall. If she is about to hit you, use the Counter Stance move. Sure, you will lose some life, but it is an almost automatic hit and you will be invincible will performing it. Also use a Mystic Necklace if you have one and keep a Recovery Gem handy.

When Misery drops to one third of her life, she will start using explosive shockwave attacks. These attacks will cover most of the fighting area and kick up rocks that can deal additional damage to you. This attack can be Dodged, but it requires precise timing. Start your Dodge just before the wave hits you. The wave will hit multiple times so continue to Dodge until it passes and watch out for the rocks. Finish off Misery as soon as possible to put an end to the attacks.

If you are still having difficulty defeating Misery, consider fighting her using Tag Play. Misery tends to focus on one particular player at a time. The player who has Misery’s attention should Dodge while the other player attacks her from the sides and back. If Misery switches her focus then switch roles. Use a Recovery Gem as soon as a character is downed. If you are having trouble orienting yourselves, due to the fast pace of the battle and the split screens, then have one of the players attack repeatedly using Counter Stance to slow down the game and give you time to get your bearings. With a little help from a friend, Misery will easily fall.

Quests and Achievements

Quests are optional challenges available to the player when playing through Story Mode. Quests do not have to be completed in any particular order. Each quest has three different levels. Completing a level in a quest will unlock either Dress Up Mode options or wallpapers. Once all three levels of a quest have been completed, then an Achievement will be unlocked.

You can complete only one level of each quest per Chapter. You can then reenter the Chapter, after completing it, to complete the next level of the quest. Quests can be completed on any difficulty. Twenty of the twenty seven Achievements in Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad are linked to completing the quests. Four are linked to beating the Normal, Hard, Violent, and Berserk difficulties in Story Mode. The remaining three are linked to unlocking all of the content for Aya, Saki, and Annna.

Items and Bracelets

Consumable Items List

Consumable items are one use items that are commonly found throughout the game. These items appear in the item menu. With the exception of the Bloody Lump, all of these items randomly drop, along with Yellow and Red Orbs, when killing zombies or destroying breakable objects. Some items drop more often then others.

D3Publisher of America, Inc. Page 62

Page 63: Walkthrough Onechanbara XBox 360

Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad – Xbox 360

While they are consumable items Bloody Lumps are a little different. A Bloody Lump can only be collected if you use a Hand Thrust or a One-Hit-Kill Martial Arts move on a Mudman.

Cure Gem: “A holy gem infused with healing power. Max 3 held. Recovers some VITALITY.” The amount of vitality recovered varies with the character’s “Vitality” stat bar. With an empty “Vitality” stat bar this item will completely refill a character’s Vitality Gauge. With a full “Vitality” stat bar the character will recover one quarter of their Vitality Gauge.

Tip: Try to hold onto Cure Gems and use them during boss battles. If you are holding three Cure Gems and an enemy drops another one then use a Cure Gem before picking up the new one.

Power Gem: “A holy gem infused with destructive power. Max 3 held. Attack power temporarily increases 1.5 times.” This item only affects a character’s melee attacks. Bullet and knives do not receive a boost from this item. This boost lasts about thirty seconds.

Tip: The damage boost from this item will stack with the damage increase from Rampage Mode and Double Rampage Mode.

Rapid Gem: “A holy gem infused with the power of a gale. Max 3 held. Speed temporarily increases 1.5 times.” This item only affects the character’s movement speed. The boost lasts about thirty seconds.

Tip: The speed boost from this item will stack with the speed increase from Rampage Mode and Double Rampage Mode.

Bloody Lump: “A congealed lump of undead blood. Max 3 held. Raises Splatter gauge when normal, and recovers vitality during Rampage.” This item will fill your Splatter Gauge halfway up. By using two of them you can instantly go into Rampage Mode.

Tip: You can also use this item to heal a character that is in Rampage Mode. Bloody Lumps are great for defeating bosses. These can only be collected by using a Hand Thrust or a One-Hit-Kill Martial Arts move on a Mudman.

Page 64: Walkthrough Onechanbara XBox 360

Goddess Statue Fragment: “A fragment of a Goddess statue. Max 3 held. Reduces the Splatter gauge, bringing an end to Rampage.” A Goddess Statue Fragment will bring a character out of Rampage Mode and reduce her Splatter Gauge to half-full.

Tip: This item is often the only way to bring you character out of Rampage Mode. They drop regularly so use them if necessary.

Mystic Necklace: “An ancient mystic necklace sealed with destructive force. Max 1 held. Temporarily protects from enemy attacks and life loss during Rampage.” This item will make you invincible for about thirty seconds. It also negates knock-back and knockdown.

Tip: The Mystic Necklace drops only rarely. Save it for a special occasion like a tough boss fight.

Recovery Gem: “A holy gem infused with the power of revival. Max 1 held. Revives a character who falls close to death.” This item completely recovers a fallen character. They will return to inactive status with a full Vitality Gauge and an empty Splatter Gauge. Unfortunately, the revived character will be returned to normal status if they where in Rampage Mode. Recovery Gems are useless if you only have one character.

Tip: Recovery Gems also drop rarely. Save them for when you really need them.

Item Pickups

Along with consumable items zombies also drop some items that work on pick up.

Yellow Orb: These items are the most common drop in the game. Picking one up will increase your Orb Points for the Chapter and move your Character closer to leveling. The size of the Yellow Orb denotes its worth.

Red Orb: These items will fill in a bit of Aya and Saki’s Splatter Gauge on pick up. If the character is already in Rampage Mode then they will regain a bit of vitality instead.

Power Tablet: This rare pick up appears as a glowing red pill. This will permanently increase the character’s “Power” stat by one point.

Skill Tablet: This rare pick up appears as a glowing purple pill. This will permanently increase the character’s “Skill” stat by one point.

Vitality Tablet: This rare pick up appears as a glowing green pill. This will permanently increase the character’s “Vitality” stat by one point.

Reach/Gun Tablet: This rare pick up appears as a glowing blue pill. This will permanently increase the character’s “Reach” or “Gun” stat by one point.

Bracelets

Bracelets are special items that can be equipped in the item menu. A character can only equip one Bracelet at a time. Their effects are very potent and can change the nature of gameplay. Unlike other items, Bracelets are not consumed when they are used. Instead Bracelets have levels (one to three) and they increase in level and power as they are used.

There are sixteen Bracelets. Twelve of them are obtained by killing the Blood Mist Zombies that are hidden through out the Story Mode Chapters. Three Bracelets are awarded for completing the game difficulties Hard, Violent, and Berserk. The last Bracelet is awarded once all the other Bracelets have been obtained and leveled up to level three.

These Blood Mist Zombies can only be killed by dealing consecutive Cool Combo hits to them. As you land Cool Combo hits the Blood Mist Zombie will start shrinking. If you mess up and miss one of the hits it will return to its normal size and you will have to start the Cool Combo over from the beginning. Each Blood Mist Zombie is mentioned in its respective Chapter Walk Through.

Once it is killed, the Blood Mist Zombie will turn into a cloud of Blood Mist that will transport you to the Torture Chamber. The Torture Chamber is an area filled with traps and zombies. Kill all of the zombies in the chamber and one will drop a key. Collect the key and you will receive one of the Bracelets. Hurry through because the longer it takes you to kill the zombies the more intense the traps become.

Survival Mode

Survival Mode is an alternate style of play where the player dives into a series of small arenas filled with progressively tougher zombies and bosses. There are no retries in Survival Mode. If both characters die then the player must restart Survival Mode from the beginning.

Survival Mode is linked to Story Mode. Every time a player encounters a boss in Story Mode that boss is then added to Survival Mode. The only boss the player will not encounter in Survival Mode is Himiko. Additionally the player will have only the options that they have unlocked in Story Mode when they play in Survival Mode. This means that unless the player has completed Chapter 3 they will not be able to use Aya’s Double Sword Style or if they have not completed Chapter 4 they will not be able to select Annna. Likewise, the levels of the characters gained in Story Mode are present in Survival Mode and vice versa. Thus if Aya is level 50 from her battles in Story Mode then she will be level 50 when she plays in Survival Mode.

Survival Mode goes through at least 42 Chapters before restarting at a higher difficulty. A

player starting Survival Mode with no Chapters in Story Mode completed will begin at Chapter 01 – 01 and then progress to 01 – 42 before restarting the cycle at 02 – 01. Since bosses are added if the player completes Chapters in Story Mode, Survival Mode can have a total of 56 Chapters (that is 01 – 01 to 01 – 56, then rolling over to 02 – 01). Indeed, if the player wishes to complete the “Arrival in the Abyss” quest then they will have to beat the game in Story Mode to unlock all 56 Chapters.

D3Publisher of America, Inc. Page 69

Page 70: Walkthrough Onechanbara XBox 360

Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad – Xbox 360

Survival Mode has four different arenas in which the 56 Chapters occur. A western style graveyard, an eastern style graveyard, a western style water temple, and an eastern style water temple. With all 56 Chapters unlocked, Survival Mode switches arenas every four Chapters and every fourth Chapter is a boss battle.

To survive Survival Mode pair Annna with one of the sisters. Allow Aya or Saki to enter Rampage Mode and then switch her to the inactive character slot. Have Annna pick off the crowds of zombies with her pistols. Remember to flank the large groups: Annna’s bullets will pass through zombies and hit those hiding behind others. Stay “Locked On” and keep firing, Annna will automatically switch to another foe when one is downed. Remember that if one of the girls is downed, you can use a Recovery Gem to revive them.

Switch to the rampaging Aya or Saki to quickly finish most boss fights or dispatch groups of Mudmen. Use Cure Gems often and if you have three when one drops use a Cure Gem before picking up the new one. Have Aya or Saki collect the Red Orbs as they will heal the sisters while they are in Rampage Mode. Finally, use Annna to kill Reiko (not her clones) and Olga. Annna can easily dispatch Reiko since she cannot block Annna’s bullets. Remember that Annna can out last Olga by standing near the end of the bridge and firing her guns as Olga leaps into the air.

Enemies

Note that some enemies will appear to be glowing red. These foes are on fire. If they strike a character she will also catch on fire and take some additional damage for a short amount of time.

Zombies

These zombies are the most common foes our trio will come across. They are slow and not very aggressive. Zombies have three basic attacks: they slam the girls with their limbs, they pin the girls and drain their health, and they throw their arms out in a knock-back attack. They are easy to kill and dealing less than lethal damage will remove their body parts in the following order: head, arms, and then torso.

Occasionally Zombies carry extra weapons such as umbrellas, crowbars, cleavers, and wood saws. The Zombies will throw these items at

your character from a distance. Zombies may also be equipped with chainsaws. Thankfully they do not throw them but they will attack you with them, dealing more damage than normal.

Bird Zombies

Bird Zombies are annoying. They have little vitality and do not deal much damage, but they are hard to hit. They will often interrupt your attacks while you are in a large group of zombies. One easy way to take them out is to “Lock On” to them and make a ranged attack.

D3Publisher of America, Inc. Page 72

Page 73: Walkthrough Onechanbara XBox 360

Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad – Xbox 360

Mudmen

These are not your typical zombies. Mudmen are often found guarding keys or doors throughout Story Mode. While they are slow and un-aggressive, Mudmen are immune to most forms of attack. Attacking them with a Standard Combo will result in a very bloody sword and a few more ticks on the Splatter Gauge. Likewise, bullets have no effect on them.

There are five ways on damage Mudmen: using Counter Stance moves (including Annna’s Grenade Toss), Hand Thrusts, Saki’s Martial Arts One-Hit-Kill move, using a Counter Attack in Clear Sight Mode, or attacking while in Rampage Mode. Mudmen are also the only source of Bloody Lumps in the game. If you kill a Mudman with a Hand Thrust or Saki’s Martial Arts One-Hit-Kill move then you will receive a Bloody

Lump.

Cop Zombies

Cop Zombies can be deadly. Their slam attacks deal more damage than those of normal zombies and they are often equipped with guns. Cop Zombies can carry shotguns and pistols. Their accuracy with their firearms depends on the difficultly you are playing in. In Easy, they will be lucky to shoot in your general direction. In Berserk, they will try to “lead” their shots to hit your moving character and they will wait until you finish your Ecstasy Attacks to fire. Remember that you can deflect bullets with well timed sword attacks.

In higher difficulties Cop Zombies’ shotguns can be devastating. The damage the shotguns deal scales with their distance from your character. At close range in Violent difficulty you would be lucky to walk away from a shotgun blast with half of your vitality. Cop Zombies can aim and fire their guns even when they are headless and will often use their guns to block your attacks. Break their guard with a kick or a thrust and disarm them by lopping off their arms.

Hounds

These zombified dogs will give you a run for your money in Chapter 5. In other Chapters, these dogs are less of a threat but do not underestimate them. There small size can sometimes make them hard to hit. Additionally, if there is a Cop Zombie or a Murder nearby, the Hounds gain the ability to deal a wicked charging combo. They can perform this attack even if they are headless so be sure to finish them off while you have the chance.

D3Publisher of America, Inc. Page 73

Page 74: Walkthrough Onechanbara XBox 360

Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad – Xbox 360

Beast Zombies

These little devils are tough to hit and can move rather fast. They have a nasty leap attack and will often attack your character from behind, in groups. Put an end to them by either “Locking On” and shooting them or performing a combo around them. It is tough to single one out without guns but if you attack in the general area they will usually leap on your blades.

Exorcists

These spider-like zombies can be tough to beat. They can leap great distances and have quick charging attacks. They also have a good deal of vitality and can block most attacks. To beat them with Aya, break their guard and attack them with a quick combo. Aya’s Ecstasy Attack is great for mowing down groups of these creepy things. To beat them with Saki, use her One-Hit-Kill move. The others in the group will not be able to harm Saki while she performs this attack. As Annna, keep your distance and shoot them. They will take quite a number of rounds to kill, but it can be done. Just don’t get too far away from them or they will leap to close the gap.

Gigants

Gigants are giant slow moving zombies. Their huge bodies make great targets and can take a lot of punishment. However do not drop your guard around these zombies. They can make some surprisingly quick attacks that can knock you back or knock you down. All of a Gigant’s attacks deal massive amounts of damage so keep your distance. Outmaneuver the Gigant and attack him from the side or behind to remain safe.

Murders

Murders are soldier zombies and they are much tougher that normal zombies. They come in three flavors: knife specialists, machine-gunners, and grenadiers. Knife specialists carry knives and have a three hit combo that will make short work of any of the girls. Machine-gunners carry a machine gun and can mow you down from a distance. Grenadiers throw grenades which hurt both you and their fellow zombies. Since it may take a few hits to kill a Murder strike him just enough times to get rid of his arms and move to the next one. Without arms Murders cannot use their weapons.

D3Publisher of America, Inc. Page 74

Page 75: Walkthrough Onechanbara XBox 360

Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad – Xbox 360

Blobs

Blobs are short, round zombies that can be hard to hit due to their stature. Blobs generally block attacks and make a nuisance of themselves, but they do occasionally roll into balls and charge. A Blob rolling at you in ball form can do quite a bit of damage and knock you back. Blobs tend not to roll when they are close to you, so close the gap with them as soon as possible.

Returners

Returners are tall lanky zombies that regenerate. Bullets and knives are not much use against these zombies as they tend to regenerate faster than such attacks can damage them. Use sword attacks against them whenever possible and do not leave a wounded Returner wandering around. True to their name they will only come back just as strong as before. Returners do have one attack worth noting: they can stretch their limbs and attack from a distance. Try to finish off Returners early in a fight or they will hang out around the edge of the group occasionally interrupting your attacks.

Blood Mist Zombie

Blood Mist Zombies are hidden throughout the Chapters. Each of these zombies has a Bracelet that is associated with it. If you manage to defeat a Blood Mist Zombie you will be transported to the Torture Chamber. Clear the Torture Chamber of zombies and you will be award a Bracelet. They are not very aggressive and tend to move slowly but that are immune to all attacks except Cool Combo hits. To kill a Blood Mist Zombie you must perform a certain number of Cool Combo hits on it in secession, without missing the timing on a single one. The zombie will start to shrink in size as it takes damage from the Cool Combo hits. A detailed listing of the Blood Mist Zombie locations and the number of hits needed to kill each one can be found in the Story Mode Chapter Walk Through and in the Items and Bracelets section of this document.

Downloadable Content

Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad has two types of Downloadable Content: Characters and Costumes. Aya, Saki, and Annna each have two additional costumes. These costumes cannot be edited in Dress Up Mode. These costumes work much like the Standard costume that each of these characters already possess. You can select the pre-made costume or select a custom costume from Dress Up Mode, but not both.

Each of the Characters added with the downloadable content can only be selected in Free Play, Practice, View, or Survival Mode. These characters are not available in Dress Up or Story Mode. The three downloadable characters are Reiko, Misery, and Himiko.

Reiko

Reiko is a sword and shotgun wielding villainess. She is a well rounded character with powerful sword attacks and an excellent ranged attack. Her shotgun is capable of throwing zombies back even from a distance and it never needs reloading. Reiko is capable of performing her own versions of the Chaotic Luster Maelstrom and the Cool Combo. She can enter Rampage Mode just like Saki and Aya. Also like Saki and Aya, Reiko can enter Clear Sight Mode and perform Counter Attacks. Like all of the downloadable characters she is unable to perform any of the “Lock On” Kick maneuvers. Of the three downloadable characters she is the weakest.

Sword and Shotgun Ecstasy Attack

To perform an Ecstasy Attack press X and A at the same time while the Ecstasy Meter is charged. During an Ecstasy Attack, Reiko slashes the area in front of her repeatedly and then attack several times with her shotgun.

While performing an Ecstasy Attack, Reiko is invincible. Reiko does not move very far during an Ecstasy Attack, but her direction and facing can be changed by moving the left analog stick during the sword portion of the attack. During the shotgun portion of the attack Reiko cannot move and will fire all of her shots in the same direction. The Ecstasy Attack fires a number of shotgun shots based on Reiko’s “Skill.” The more “Skill” Reiko has, the more shots she will fire.

Reiko’s Sword and Shotgun Ecstasy Attack is a strange mix of Aya’s Whirlwind and Annna’s Bullet Fury. To get the most out of the attack, use it at point blank range so that the shotgun shots are sure to connect. Alternatively, you could trigger the attack in a group of foes, but try to aim the shotgun before its portion of the attack starts.

Charging Strike Counter Stance

Unlike the sisters Reiko makes a short charge and strikes through her foes when using her Counter Stance (that is, pressing Y and B at the same time). This attack still drains some of Reiko’s vitality. The attack is uninterruptible and Reiko is invincible while performing the attack. The charging strike deals damage in the area that she passes through and is capable of killing Mudmen.

Reiko’s Sword and Shotgun Style

In general, Reiko’s Sword and Shotgun Style resembles Saki’s Fighting Style. However, Reiko has a few tricks that are all her own.

Misery

Misery is the blood drinking psycho that just won’t die. She is a powerful melee focused character. Her spiky sword can dish out tons of damage and she is the only character that can use “Lock On” attacks without locking on. Like Saki and Aya, Misery can enter Rampage Mode. She has her own version of the Cool Combo and she can enter Clear Sight Mode to perform Counter Attacks.

Like all of the downloadable characters she is unable to perform any of the “Lock On” Kick maneuvers. Of the three downloadable characters, she is the second strongest.

Energy Wave Burst Ecstasy Attack

To perform an Ecstasy Attack press X and A at the same time while the Ecstasy Meter is charged. During an Ecstasy Attack, Misery will launch a burst of energy waves. These waves start as a line, similar to Saki’s Energy Wave Ecstasy Attack, but as they continue they expand into a spread.

While performing an Ecstasy Attack Misery is invincible. Misery’s attack does not last very long as she throws all of the energy waves at the same time. Misery does not move during an Ecstasy Attack. The number of energy waves thrown out is based on Misery’s “Skill.” The more “Skill” Misery has, the more waves she will throw.

Misery’s Energy Wave Burst Ecstasy Attack is great for mowing down large groups of enemies that are lined up. Treat this attack like you would Saki’s, but remember that it covers a larger spread. Be sure to lock on before delivering the attack to aim it and watch the mini-map to line up your shot.

Explosive Counter Stance

Misery’s Counter Stance (that is, pressing Y and B at the same time) resembles the upgraded Counter Stance from Double Rampage Mode. It unleashes an explosion that damages everything around Misery. This attack still drains some of Misery’s vitality. The attack is uninterruptible and Misery is invincible while performing the attack. The explosion is capable of killing Mudmen. Misery’s Spiky Sword Style

In general, Misery’s Spiky Sword Style resembles Aya’s Single Sword Style. Misery gains no extra attacks from locking on, but can perform the “Lock On” attacks without locking on.

Upward Slash: To perform Misery’s version of this basic move, press B while moving back with the left analog stick.

Tip: This attack is great for clearing the area of zombies attempting to flank Misery while she is focused on a boss.

Single Whirlwind Attack: To perform this attack, press left or right on the left analog stick while pressing B. When executed, this move resembles a shortened version of Aya’s Whirlwind Ecstasy Attack.

Downward Slash: Press A and then press X while Misery is in the air. Misery will land with a powerful overhead slash.

Tip: The Downward Slash a great way to greet a small clump of zombies.

Himiko

Himiko is the leader of the evil organization. She wields swords made of blood. The downloadable version of Himiko is her youthful form. She is an overly powerful character. Much like Aya, she has two different sword styles. Unlike other characters she does not ever have to clean her swords and she cannot enter Rampage Mode. She also cannot enter Clear Sight Mode or make any of the basic “Lock On” attacks. That being said, she is still the strongest of the downloadable characters.

Double Sword Vortex Ecstasy Attack

To perform an Ecstasy Attack, press X and A at the same time while the Ecstasy Meter is charged. During an Ecstasy Attack, Himiko will throw out several blood blades that spin and return to her.

While performing an Ecstasy Attack, Himiko is invincible. Himkio does not move during an Ecstasy Attack, but her direction and facing can be changed by moving the left analog stick. The Ecstasy Attack has a duration based on Himiko's “Skill.” The more “Skill” Himiko has the longer the attack lasts.

Himiko’s Double Sword Vortex Ecstasy Attack is great for mowing down whole areas of enemies. This is easily the most powerful Ecstasy Attack in the game. The best approach is to move into the largest clump of foes and trigger the attack. While the attack continues simply spin Himiko in

circles and direct her whirling blades into foes. Since it may be hard see what is going on watch the mini-map. Simply turn the green triangle towards the red dots and they will vanish.

Explosive Counter Stance

This attack still drains some of Himiko’s vitality. The attack is uninterruptible and Himiko is invincible while performing the attack. The explosion is capable of killing Mudmen.

Himiko’s Single Sword Style

Himiko’s Single Sword Style is a lot like Aya’s Single Sword Style, but it has a lower number of moves. Himiko also lacks ranged attacks when using this style.

Tip: This attack allows Himiko to move quickly and covers a large amount of ground. Try Jump Attacking in a box shaped pattern around bosses.

moves but one particularly powerful addition.
